I've heard about this place for some time, plus the fact that there's usually a wait. We went on a early Saturday afternoon and just got seated at the bar - it's not a large place, and it felt somewhat crowded sitting there until things cleared out a bit. The food was terrific. I had a outstanding Chicago dog that... More

Senate is my favorite restaurant in Cincinnati. Delicious, gourmet hot dogs, fantastic drinks, poutine, beignets - yes, please! Always find myself here with friends when I'm in town. The Lindsay Lohan is my usual choice if I'm not feeling the daily special. Love the ambiance and always fantastic service. The only issue is that it is a smaller restaurant, very... More

This is a restaurant a lot of people are talking about and it was a fun place. Not fancy food, if that is what you are looking for. Specialty is hot dogs with a variety of different toppings in the revamped Over the Rhine area of town. We went early to avoid the crowds. It is a small place and... More

Well we wanted to try one of their hotdogs but the were on a "dark hour" at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon in the summer. ....seriously? ? A word to the wise....half the new restaurants in OTR are either closed or PACKED ( a 2 hour wait for chicken at the Eagle...also seriously? ). Cincinnati has come a long way... More

Went for lunch on our way to a concert. This place is in a great location, food and service was tops!!! Everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing!! I had the Nick Lachey dog and truffle fries!! Get the fries no matter what you order! Bartender was great! He shared so much information about the city and local attractions.... More

Creative approach to American classics. If you food with a twist go there. If you prefer a classic burger or hot dog -> don't go there. Tried a lot of stuff, even the pig tails. The dishes taste absolutely amazing. The portions aren't too big and a bit on the pricey side.

$80 for 3 hotdogs, fries and a beer, a glass of wine and a cocktail, which was possibly the weakest drink i've ever had served to me. When i emailed the restaurant with my concerns, no response. Not worth the money.

Lets get real here. They claim to serve gourmet hot dogs! Am I the only person who sees this an an oxymoron? My overpriced dog was okay but nothing worth making a special trip for. Save your money and go to a good burger joint.

Senate Restaurant, brother to Abigail Street, was a pioneer in the OTR redevelopment process and deserves credit in helping to revitalize this vibrant Cincinnati neighborhood. Yet, calling Senate a great restaurant and including it in a top ten list, is misguided and naive. It's a simple bar with a unique small plates menu specializing in hot dogs. A frankfurter does... I usually will never eat a hot dog but they make them so delicious! It is a very unique dining experience. I got the Lindsey Lohan, it was amazing!
