Okay dining experience

Had shrimp and grits and my husband had the shrimp pasta. Should have had their fried chicken which they're known for. Wine, fried green tomato appetizer, the two entrees and key lime pie for dessert was around $78. Food was just okay. One thing they really need to address is the scent of moth... read more

While travelling to New Orleans, we planned a side trip to Vicksburg. Instead of eating at the chain restaurants, I was looking for a local place. After reviewing several places, Walnut Hills was selected. When we arrived at Walnut Hills, we could tell it was what we were looking for. You go up a one lane driveway to a parking... More

Saw the sign on the highway on our way home. We were starving but didn't want just anything. I can't understand bad reviews. Food is excellent. Pies are the best you've ever eaten. Service is great. No soggy anything. I don't know what these people are talking about. It's a four to five star dinner. Just don't go for lunch.... More

Okay, this place is not cheap but it is so worth it. 1880s home, unbelievable catfish, onion rings made to order, grilled seafood platter (sooooo good) and service by Kenny. We loved it.

House was beautiful, service was excellent. The fried chicken was out of this world. The dessert case has an amazing selection. I had the German Chocolate Cake and Oh My Word!!!! Be ready to eat, you will not be disappointed! !!

This is a house renovated into a restaurant. The staff is so warm and welcoming. The food is amazing!! They have a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The southern fried chicken was the best chicken I've ever tasted, even my 5 year old agreed. They have a wide variety of pies for dessert. This is a one of... More

We wanted to experience southern food and Walnut Hills was recommended to us. We enjoyed great food at a reasonable price. Our waitress was very friendly and very helpful. On the outside the restaurant doesn't look like much but it was very roomy inside and nicely updated. We would recommend this restaurant as we enjoyed good food and great southern... More

We went to Walnut Hills Restaurant in August, 2015 while we were in downtown Vicksburg, MS. The parking in back seemed a little tight so we parked on the street and had no problem at all. The restaurant sets on a hill so we had to walk up a driveway with a big incline. One inside the restaurant we were... More

This place is in a old Victorian home with a great interior. When we told our hotel staff we wanted southern food (we're from the Midwest) they said we HAD to one here. My husband had the fried chicken and he loved it. I had a seafood plate with blackened catfish, shrimp, and crab cakes. The catfish was very good,... More

Recommended by our B and B propietor but extremely disappointed. Arrived 8:00 pm week-night, few people, readily apparent that the wait staff were keen to get out of there. Wife's soup was evidently delicious but everything else ordered was below par, Have never seem such limp salads. How they made their way out of the kitchen beats me. Ate our... More
