Fried rice was average at best. Tonkatsu sandwich was good. Quick service. Staff looks sad. Standard local Japanese food. Will return next year maybe.
We just went to dinner tonight. wow after all the raving reviews on their oxtail soup, i have to say it was not good. Honestly Zippy's oxtail soup is better even though it is salty at times. Also tried their much touted Spicy Ahi Don. To bland for me, just a zig zag squirt if the spicy sauce not enough... More
I've been to more than 3 places to have Oxtail Soup and Asahi is the best. It is right around the corner from Ward Centre, one of my favorite places....I like the T-shirts the waitresses wear and even though I went there close to 2:30 pm there were still lots of people eating. I was lucky because normally it is... More
Known for their oxtail soup but Asahi grill has a cute little bar in the back with karaoke and nice pupus. The bar is small but they actually have quite a selection. Everyone is super friendly and very generous. We went in for happy hour at 4:30 which is from I think 2:30 and the regular bartender wasn't in yet... More
Just stopped by for quick bite; I ordered a Tuna Melt and husband ordered Grilled Cheese. A little confusing about ordering the Deluxe. I wanted fries with my sandwich, but my husband didn't want any sides. He got forced into ordering one. Anyway, both sandwichs were toasted well, and both meals totaled $10. Saw lots of others ordering Ramen; think... More
Two words... Oxtail Ramen. Awesome! The Asahi Grill is a little restaurant that most out-of-towners would never notice and I doubt it's in any guidebooks. Located just a few minutes from Waikiki, it's super clean, the staff is very friendly and the food there is simply great! Lots of stuff you're probably familiar with and many local foods too. From... They serve the best oxtail soup in Honolulu after the coffee shop at Kalihi Bowl was closed. Nice place to eat after landing in Honolulu. Make sure to order large size. You can finish it easily.
After arriving in Honolulu and checking in at the Pagoda Hotel during the noon hour, it was time for lunch! A local recommended the Asahi Grill across the street. We ordered one of the daily specials, Adobo Chicken and Pork which came with 2 scoop rice and mac salad and the other order was the house special of the Oxtail... More
The oxtail soup was very good. We also had the kalbi, chicken curry katsu and we asked if they can make a spam and eggs fried rice. They did make it for us and everything was delicious. They was also karaoke, free entertainment i guess. The experience was good and fairly cheap.
We went on a Saturday night at 7:30, parking was tight but we went around the block and found a stall right up front. Ordered the oxtail soup (12.95) which comes quickly and is hot and delicious! Friends ordered the fresh corned beef special - looked a little fatty, but they said it was tasty. You can also order broth... More
