Very Good Overall...despite some blemishes

The lanai dining area is just two or three tables beyond cozy. A few premium tables boast an unobstructed ocean view. Most of the other tables' views are compromised due to the guests at other tables or the very low hanging glorious branches of the two Hau Trees ( sea hibiscus,Hibiscus... read more

I spent my honeymoon here-- 45 years ago--and the Hau Tree Lanai at the Kaimana hotel continues to be a classic, quiet oasis of sensory delight for beach-watching lunches and spectacular sunset diners.. Always the best place to take visitors and kamaaina for a "time-out" respite. Note: leave the children at home or watch them play on the beach from... More

It has been almost 25 years since I was last in Hawaii. Grew up there in the 50's, stationed for 2 yrs in the late 60's in Kaneohe MCAS, and spent alot of time swiming, fishing, surfing on the New Otani Beach, so this was like "coming home." Reservations were a "breeze;" getting to the New Otani from Waikiki Beach... More

It has a good menu and a great view for breakfast and for watching the sun set over Barber's Point in the evening. I like the croissant and the macadamia nut French toast. The continental with fruit and muffins is also good. I haven't had a bad meal there. Be sure to make reservations so you don't have to wait.... More

Our concierge at our Hotel recommended this for a beautiful breakfast unfortunately she didn't tell us we needed reservations. We walked in and were told if we didn't have reservations or were staying at the hotel it would be an hour or more wait. We left but word to the wise if you want to eat here make reservations even... We had the best local fish of any restaurant in Honolulu. Perfectly prepared. Ask the wait staff for the fish that came in that day and you will enjoy a wonderful dinner. Very simply prepared as good fish should be. Service is outstanding with the wait staff helping each other when restaurant is busy. Don't miss this special place. Reservations... More

We ate here many years ago during a flight layover. it was a great lunch. We came back to Honolulu in January 2015 and wondered if they were still in business and whether it was still good. They did not disappoint! We had dinner on the lanai and it had to be one of the best meals we ever ate.... More

If you want a relaxing and inspiring breakfast choose the hau tree lanai on Kalakaua close to the aquarium. The experience of looking at the ocean while eating pancakes or an omelette is transformative. You'll remember this meal.

We reserved through opentable for the first seating so we were able to get a table near the water. Husband had the Super Kaimana Benedict, wife had the Croissant Breakfast. Both were delicious. Kaimana was very unique - filet was cooked perfectly. We would definitely return.

We lived on Oahu for several years, and discovered the Hau Tree Lanai then; it was a hidden local gem. It is located on the beach, on the east end of Waikiki, at the foot of Diamond Head. We always went here for special occasions and I have recommended it to friends many times over the years; they have all... More
