While the food and parings are excellent, the staff and setting under the trees on the beach make it an over the top pleasurable dining experience away from the noise of Waikiki.

Service and foor excellent. Right on the beach. Beautiful sunsets. Lamb chops the best I ever had. Not a lot of tables so you should make reservations.

My husband and I went to the Hau Tree on recommendations from a local. There had been an article in the paper recently stating that it was one of the original restaurants in the area. The banyan tree on the beach adds to the charm. The food and service were great. Our waiter made a very enjoyable experience. He offered... More

The view from this restaurant cannot be beat. It is exquisite. Unfortunately, the food is on the other end of the spectrum. Fried, gravy, and not a lot of taste. My favorite part of the Price Fixe menu was the sorbet which was a cleanse for our palet between courses. Prices were high too.

Went for lunch while going to Diamond Head. Look close at the address, this restaurant is actually located in a historic hotel. The Kaimana Beach Hotel is 50 years old. Located in the Waikiki beach area at the end. My friend and I had salads that were a meal. Both delicious and with the view, it is paradise. Staff is... More

We have been to the Hau Tree Lanai often. It is right on the beach and has a view of the entire Waikiki scenery and the ocean of many shades of blue and its reef. There is an old Hau Tree with its branches reaching out over the lanai for a beautiful shade where Robert Louis Stevenson used to sit... More

We went to the Hau Tree on our first night in Oahu to celebrate our anniversary. We made reservations the same day and they were very accommodating and we went after sunset. I am sure sunset there would be incredible. We had ahi sashimi for an appetizer, steamed ahi and island garlic ahi for our entrees. Everything was delicious and... More

Papaya chicken salad and pommegranite tea...just about the perfect lunch, overlooking the gorgeous beach and under the pretty Hau tree that inspired Robert Louis Stevenson.

I was a little overwhelmed by the choices on the menu here (so many options) and our waiter was extremely helpful in assisting with decisions. He was even honest enough to NOT recommend the special! The atmostphere was fantastic, a beautiful beachfront view with intertwining trees. However - beware of mice living in the trees and running under your table.... More

Aloha and thank you for your recent visit to the Hau Tree Lanai Restaurant and taking the time to comment your experience on Trip Advisor. Good housekeeping practices are a must at this dining establishment, especially maintaining a retaurant that is outdoor. Being on a beach can be challenge since rodents are notorious for finding their way indoors. However, we... More
