Great view, OK food

We chose Hau Tree for it's view. We requested an ocean front table at sunset, and you're practically sitting on the beach with a fantastic view of the sun setting over Waikiki beach. After the sun comes down, the place is lit with lamps and has a nice glow. The food was OK - we felt like we were... read more

A beachside table at sunset under the Hau tree can't be beat for romance and a taste of an earlier, less frantic Honolulu. The local staff are relaxed and competent, ready to let you dine at your own pace without push or pressure. The menu offers numerous choices, but has its strength in fresh, local fish. Enjoyed the opakapaka, while... More

I ate with my group at this restaurant as a celebration. It was one of the absolute best-prepared meals I have ever had traveling on business. I don't usually order fish while traveling as I find it can sometimes be a bit spotty in the preparation, but how could I not order the fresh catch of the evening? And I... More

We had a breakfast that was so good we booked a dinner at the Hau Tree Lanai -- in the park at the Diamond Head end of Waikiki Beach. It was a pretty stroll of about a mile each way from our hotel in Waikiki. The food was excellent! So was the service. The Hau Tree sits in a beautiful,... More

Views match the cuisine. Delightful menus and personal service. We shared a three course dinner and it had lobster and steak. Very tasty and nicely presented. It is expensive. Breakfast again can't be beat for the beach front views. Need reservations. We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights but only ate at the Hau Tree twice since there are... More

We have dined at the Hau Tree for many years and each time it is as good as we recall. First, its locale, right on Sans Souci beach is unique. You can watch the swimmers and have a panoramic view of Waikiki and the Pacific Ocean. Secondly, the breakfast is very good. The Hawaiian breakfast platter is ample...3 pancakes, eggs,... More

Excellent service. Coffee cups always filled with hot coffee. Breakfast food is outstanding. Served hot and fresh. Wonderful fresh fish for dinner. Prepared several ways. Well worth trying all the fish preparations. Love the warm bread. You must try the Bean soup prepared fresh daily. We like to sit towards the back of the restaurant and enjoy the beautiful Hau... OK. Best breakfast of our stay. Local friend wanted us to have a nice final breakfast for this stay. Crab Hollandais, salmon hollandaise, seafood omlettes, chicken fried rice, and fresh fruit were all excellent. You will need reservations so call ahead as far ahead as they will allow. We called over a week ahead to get a 0700 reservation. Bon... More
