Local Flavor--A Secret to Tourists

This is the old Side Street Inn--not the new one near Waikiki. One reviewer noted that the table and chairs were cheap--no question that is true BUT the food selections are all local and fantastic. Service by Jill (who looks like she is 18 but has worked there for 9 years) was a 10+. I had the... read more

We went here based on trip advisor reviews, but the area was not very nice, and when we went in to the restaurant, the tables and chairs were cheap and there was a really bad smell. The prices were not cheap, and didn't match the decor.

My family loved the Side Street Inn! We wandered in on a Friday night, and sat next to a few locals...good thing cause the coached us on what to order. We enjoyed the garlic edamame, and the house salad and an amazing fried rice! Then we all share the beef short ribs and the coconut fish. Everything was delicious.....for desert... More

This is a must dine here when we are in Honolulu. There is almost always a wait but it is worth it. We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. This time we had two of the house specialties: the Fried Rice and the Housin Ribs. Both were excellent. There were two of us and we left... More

Each time I am in Honolulu, I have always had dinner at Side Street Inn. It has never disappointed me, ever. I was told the grill was down and we couldn't order kalbi etc but that did not stop us. We had the kim chee fried rice with lop cheong and portuguese sausage, caesar salad, spicy chicken, stir fried beef... More

We went there on a day when their grill was down. They were out of a few menu items(at 2 p.m.). The prices were a bit pricey, but the portions are quite large. The spicy chicken and the house fried rice were really good

Decided to try this place and was not disappointed. Portions are huge and prices were very reasonable. With not liquor, my bf and I spent less than $30 total and had left overs to brig back. Tried the award winning rice. We liked it a lot, more of a moist rice with great flavor. We got the special Cobb wedge... More

This place was packed at dinner time. Good thing we had reservations. The fried rice was excellent as was the beef dishes and the fried chicken. We also had the Caesar salad, the "light" size. Good thing we didn't order the large size as our order was very large. Their version of garlic fries was of the shoestring size. They came... More

I've been to Side Street Inn a couple of times because my husband is a fan of the pan fried pork chops but I'm not a fan. Nothing really stood out and was memorable. PROS: Portion: The food is served family style so the portions are huge. The quantity is there, I just wish I could say the same about... More

The first time I tried the food here was 2 years ago and it was very good. I heard that chefs would come here to try their food as inspiration for creating new dishes of their own. However, this latest visit was more of a disappointment as the food was just not as good as before. We had the Hoisin... More
