By far the best outside of a local luau, place to have real authentic and ono hawaiian food. It is a main staple place for me and whenever i'm ono for Hawaiian food, down school street I go to munch on the best squid luau on the island. The staff and owners are the sweetest. absolutely love this place

Saw this place on "Man vs. Food" a few years back and wanted to try it then...then I read all the reviews before my recent trip and I knew I had to go here. True, authentic Hawaiian food..if you like fish, try the Butterfish collars! The kalua pig and of course the ribs, were all amazing. But let's not forget... More

Some friends and I came to try out the food after a few weeks in Hawaii and I have to say that this meal felt like grandma's home cooking. The Lomi salmon was good but not great. I think it needed more spice. The pork was delicious, but the Pipikola short ribs are some of the best ribs I've ever had.... More

We arrived just after the dinner rush on Labor Day weekend Friday. We were told it was a 45 minute wait. Not wanting to wait, we asked another single diner if she would share her table with us and she said "Yes". The menu is simple, with basic Hawaiian staples on the menu. As a vegetarian, I worried that I... More

You could have a 30-minute wait to sit down in this restaurant or if you take-out, it's only about a 5-minute wait. There is very little parking even at the off-hours (we tried going around 2:30 and there was still a line of about 10 people in front of us). The laulau, lomi lomi salmon, kalua pig, (with rice) and... More

I came in early on a Friday night around 5:00 and luckily was seated immediately but proceeded to wait a good while for my food, but I came in not in a hurry and relaxed. The place is packed and the few guys in the kitchen are juggling the regular tables and take out orders. My waitress was kind and... More

We love this place and had another fine experience at Helena's. While I cannot comment on eating there, we do takeout, the food stays good and hot all the way back to Waikiki, the pipikalua ribs are outstanding, the lau lau is great and the Kalua pig is amazing. We learned to enjoy poi here, too - dip a slice... More

Our "luau experience" at Helena's has been great! We waited just less than 30 minutes for our table and then the fun begun! We ordered the Combination dinner D plus a fried ahi. Everything was delicious! I wanted to try the poi for my very first time, and I found it very good with the kalua pig. The short ribs... More

We went there twice on our visits. Also find a store in the shopping center sells the t-shirts. The pork ribs is tender good and we had the salsa with salmon with rice. The onion with sea salt was tasty with ribs.
