This was my first run at Hawaiian food and Halena's didn't let me down. I'm not counting the spam I've eaten growing up. One of the cooks brought out my order and sensing my naive ness towards it made a few suggestions such as mixing the shredded pork with the poi... But honestly I just can't stop thinking about those... More

Went here after seeing an episode of Man Vs Food. Was not disappointed. Was good to get away from the touristy Waikiki. We had to wait for about 10 minutes for a table. Food was quickly prepared and tasted great. We sampled a few different dishes. Far more fun then a buffet with fire show at a hotel.

We like to try different cuisines so when we were on Oahu and were trying to find a place to eat, we web-searched for Hawaiian food and this place came up on the recommended lists so we drove to it and found ourselves in a small family run restaurant serving cuisine we had not seen, smelled or tried before. We... More

My wife and I have been going there every chance we get when we are in Hawaii, have been going since 2008. The pulled pork and cabbage is out of this world. This is one of the few native Hawaiian restaurants, if your looking for elegence this is not the place for you. If you want local food with casual... More

Let's just say you are doing yourself an injustice if you do not try this place at least once. We are such die hard Helena's fans we do not arrive on Oahu nor leave on a day when Helena's is closed. We hit this place before we check in to the hotel. Go there and try everything.

After eating Japanese, and then more Japanese in Waikiki, we went in search of some Hawaiian food and of course Helena's comes up on an Internet search. Thus, we were happy to drive out the Helena's, wait 20min for a seat, and watch eagerly as the dishes came out to those already seated, hoping to get an glimpse of this... More

A favourite with locals, as testified by long lines. But the fact that a place is popular doesn't necessarily mean it's great. That said, this restaurant is not a bad way to try popular Hawaiian dishes at a reasonable price. Owner Helena infuses a friendly culture to the staff. The food is not top quality, but they have everything here... More

We stumbled upon this gem after leaving the Bishop museum. This food was AMAZING. The services was quick and to-the-point but still very friendly and fun. Did I mention the food was amazing? Order the luau chicken, order the ribs, order everything and enjoy. :)
