Best plate lunch!

I moved here 20 years ago, never was a big fan of Hawaiian food until I tried Helena's. Eat their pipikaula, squid luau, chicken long rice, lau lau and kalua pork once and you'll crave it forever. Casual and cash only, closed Sat-Sun-Mon. Get there when they open at 10 am to avoid the long line.

If you want to get a true taste of Hawaiian food, go there. You can order a variety of food in small portions for a fair price. Bring cash!

We came here on Halloween 2014 when there was that huge traffic jam which brought the whole island to a halt. It took us an hour and a half to get here from Waikiki but it was worth it! I'll start by pointing out that they are cash only. Save yourself the walk down the road to the ATM and... More

We ate here today after 10 days of being in Hawaii and eating Hawaiian food and we still thought it was amazing. Definitely the best Kahlúa pork and ribs we had during our stay.

Giving Helena's my coveted 5 star review. The 5 stars is for the food and service. The place isn't fancy and the parking is lacking, but the food and friendly Hawaiian service make up for it! We tried just about everything on the menu. Everything was excellent. My favorite was the pork and cabbage. The short ribs, luau chicken, grilled... More

This was my first run at Hawaiian food and Halena's didn't let me down. I'm not counting the spam I've eaten growing up. One of the cooks brought out my order and sensing my naive ness towards it made a few suggestions such as mixing the shredded pork with the poi... But honestly I just can't stop thinking about those... More

Went here after seeing an episode of Man Vs Food. Was not disappointed. Was good to get away from the touristy Waikiki. We had to wait for about 10 minutes for a table. Food was quickly prepared and tasted great. We sampled a few different dishes. Far more fun then a buffet with fire show at a hotel.

We like to try different cuisines so when we were on Oahu and were trying to find a place to eat, we web-searched for Hawaiian food and this place came up on the recommended lists so we drove to it and found ourselves in a small family run restaurant serving cuisine we had not seen, smelled or tried before. We... More

My wife and I have been going there every chance we get when we are in Hawaii, have been going since 2008. The pulled pork and cabbage is out of this world. This is one of the few native Hawaiian restaurants, if your looking for elegence this is not the place for you. If you want local food with casual... More

Let's just say you are doing yourself an injustice if you do not try this place at least once. We are such die hard Helena's fans we do not arrive on Oahu nor leave on a day when Helena's is closed. We hit this place before we check in to the hotel. Go there and try everything.
