Place is a little small, but service is fast and awesome food...food was excellent. Combos or ala carte.

Helena's is an institution. Always crowded with locals, and only open tuesday through friday. Very limited parking, also. A must for authentic old style Hawaiian food. By no means fancy, but friendly family service and everything is freshly prepared. Recommend the chicken long rice, kalua pig, poi, lau lau, and of course the short ribs-their signature dish, lomi-lomi salmon and... More

Great food if you are looking for some authentic Hawaiian food and up for trying poi. Try menu option B with poi or rice. Liked it so much I bought a T-shirt.

Saw them on the food network so decided to give it a try. We have tried Ono's and Highway Inn we liked them both, but the difference here is the owner. She is a great lady who works the register and she really makes you feel like family. So kind and friendly you could talk to her for hours. The... More

A quaint little place near a corner, do not underestimate the food because of the size. This place is always packed and parking is tight. I had Menu B which consisted of kalua pig, sliced ribs, poi (which is the freshest I've tasted thus far), haupia (gelatinous coconut usually served in cubes or prisms), Hawaiian sea salt and slices of... Good food. I'd never had poi before, but it wasn't too bad. The staff was very friendly and the pork ribs were great. I would definitely recommend eating here. If I go back to Honolulu, I would go back in a heartbeat,

We went to Helena's after a day at the Bishop Museum. I like dives, but honestly, I did think the place could have been cleaner. We tried a big sample plate with lots of things. The Luau Squid was horrible looking, but one of the best foods I had on my entire trip. I'm going to try and figure out... More

First stop from HNL airport was to Helena's! No wait (we got lucky), and the food came fast and was so delicious. Menu B - Kalua pork, pipikaula short ribs, rice, ahi poke, as well as lomilomi salmon, mmmmm!!! Service was good and friendly. Must go back when I return to HI!!

The food was amazing especially the short ribs. Worth the drive from Waikiki. Will definitely stop by again when in Oahu.

The food here is out of this world. Pipkaula ribs (they marinade it in a soy and salt mixture and hang it up to tenderise for the day before frying it up... absolutely delicious!), Long rice, Frieded butter fish and the Kalua Pig. Eat all of these things and thank me later!
