A quaint little place near a corner, do not underestimate the food because of the size. This place is always packed and parking is tight. I had Menu B which consisted of kalua pig, sliced ribs, poi (which is the freshest I've tasted thus far), haupia (gelatinous coconut usually served in cubes or prisms), Hawaiian sea salt and slices of... Good food. I'd never had poi before, but it wasn't too bad. The staff was very friendly and the pork ribs were great. I would definitely recommend eating here. If I go back to Honolulu, I would go back in a heartbeat,

We went to Helena's after a day at the Bishop Museum. I like dives, but honestly, I did think the place could have been cleaner. We tried a big sample plate with lots of things. The Luau Squid was horrible looking, but one of the best foods I had on my entire trip. I'm going to try and figure out... More

First stop from HNL airport was to Helena's! No wait (we got lucky), and the food came fast and was so delicious. Menu B - Kalua pork, pipikaula short ribs, rice, ahi poke, as well as lomilomi salmon, mmmmm!!! Service was good and friendly. Must go back when I return to HI!!

The food was amazing especially the short ribs. Worth the drive from Waikiki. Will definitely stop by again when in Oahu.

The food here is out of this world. Pipkaula ribs (they marinade it in a soy and salt mixture and hang it up to tenderise for the day before frying it up... absolutely delicious!), Long rice, Frieded butter fish and the Kalua Pig. Eat all of these things and thank me later!

The line of locals waiting outside at an off-time told me this meal was going to be worth the wait. Indeed, it was. We had the kalua pig combination with the short ribs, white rice and haupia for dessert. The ribs were so flavorful and they were falling off the bone. The kalua pig had a wonderful, smokey taste. There... More

By far the best outside of a local luau, place to have real authentic and ono hawaiian food. It is a main staple place for me and whenever i'm ono for Hawaiian food, down school street I go to munch on the best squid luau on the island. The staff and owners are the sweetest. absolutely love this place

Saw this place on "Man vs. Food" a few years back and wanted to try it then...then I read all the reviews before my recent trip and I knew I had to go here. True, authentic Hawaiian food..if you like fish, try the Butterfish collars! The kalua pig and of course the ribs, were all amazing. But let's not forget... More

Some friends and I came to try out the food after a few weeks in Hawaii and I have to say that this meal felt like grandma's home cooking. The Lomi salmon was good but not great. I think it needed more spice. The pork was delicious, but the Pipikola short ribs are some of the best ribs I've ever had.... More
