Wonderful little hole-in-the-wall!

Had the Laulau, it was really good if you are into that sort of thing! The Kalua pig and cabbage was delicious! Shortribs were amazing! They were like no ribs I've ever had! Haupia was also really tasty! All around a great "authentic" Hawaiian experience!

We ordered short ribs pipikala style, kalua pig, luau squid, poke fish with opihi and rice. They gave us a plate of haupia. Haupia was excellent! The short ribs were quite different and therefore special. But a bit too burnt and dry for my taste. Luau squid was interesting. Poke fish w/ opihi was not very good. Lots of places... More

We went to Helena's for lunch during the work week. We had seen the restaurant featured on Man vs. Food. It was very hot outside during the wait and parking was challenging. But, it was definitely worth the wait! I had the laulau and my son had the pipikaula short ribs. Mmmmm! The rest of the crew had the beef... More

Good food!! Awesome service!! The shortribs were nice and tender with a slight crisp outside and very tasty. The kalua pig was very moist and it had just the right amount of smoke and salt flavor...

The doors opean at 10am and Im ready to order the Ribs and poi, and lomi salmon. The servers are so friendly and lots of Aloha Spirit. I always bump in to friends there and tell new friends about Helenas. I take my tutus there on tuesdays and they really enjoy the food and service.

Not easy to find, not easy to find parking and maybe not the best side of town, BUT just get there! If you do not have a reservation ( don't worry, things go fast here ) you are greeted by the friendly waitress who will give you a menu so you can have your order ready when a table becomes... More

Lived in hawaii, moved away, and when I come to visit my family I always stop by Helena's. Great Hawaiian food and service is awesome. You might have to wait long and parking is limited. If your a tourist you might have a hard time parking but for locals it's easy

Great restaurant located in a residential neighborhood. Bus #2 from Waikiki. Kalua pig, pipikaula(short ribs) with rice and you get complimentary haupia(coconut pudding/jello) for dessert. Left full and very content; that, ladies and gentlemen is true Hawaiian food for you.

Helena's is a local establishment serving authentic Hawaiian food with its own style and character. The service was excellent and in the aloha spirit. Even better though was the food. As others have noted, you can choose from the set menus (which are just set combinations of different items) or pick a la carte. Overall, we tried as many different... More

The Waite might be long and the parking sucks but the Hawaiian food is well worth it. I love that you can buy everything ala cart with portion sizes that allow you to try many different thing. So Ono!!!!
