Fun old fashioned Tiki Bar

A bunch of us were in HNL for a tennis tournament, the last arrived about 7:45 so I looked for a restaurant near the airport. La Mariana was perfect! It was like stepping off into an episode of Hawaii Five-0 and we had a blast. There was a singer-piano player and the food was good.

Hidden at the end of Sand Island Access Road, where Honolulu is planning to build a homeless shelter is La Mariana Sailing Club. There's no sailing and it's not a club but a very old, very funky tiki bar. This watering hole is like stepping into a Hawai‘i that no longer exists. As perhaps one of Honolulu’s last remaining authentic tiki... More

Fantastic tiki atmosphere, very friendly service and decent bar prices. Went here to essentially get a dose of kitsch, but was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the drinks and the food. This place is a little out of the way, but if you want some great drinks and excellent bar food, its worth a visit.

La Mariana is a locals restaurant in Honolulu that serves a wide fare of food. It reminds me of a Tiki lounge that we would have visited in the 60's. We ordered from the appetizer section and had six wonderful side plates. What impressed me the most was how thoughtful the service was. We had a large party and the... More

This place totally surprised us. It's located in a heavy industrial area of Sand Island, and comes with it's own private sail boat marina. Once inside, it's like a throwback to old Hawaii. The menu was extensive, service great, and the food was excellent. The only downside is that during our infrequent days of no trade winds and muggy atmosphere,... More

It was a little hard to find but so worth the trip. The drinks and fresh fish were amazing. We plan to eat here again before we leave for the mainland.

Literally the best seared Ahi I have ever eaten! It was seasoned well, cooked beautifully, and there was a generous portion (we split it for lunch). Their onion rings were also delicious, and the mud pie for dessert was good, but not great. If all we had was a mai tai, I probably would have given it more like 3-4... More

This is pretty much my ideal of an old tiki bar. Ok, the drinks are not super fancy, but they will get the job done. Waitstaff were super friendly, I loved sitting amongst the trees that look like the bar has sort of organically grown around. It's not the easiest place to find, in a warehousey area, and the first... More

We happened upon here after a recommendation from some friends and we weren't disappointed. It's in a bit of a strange area, but once you find it, the restaurant is a charming and authentic looking tiki bar and restaurant. We had read that the Mai Tais were exceptional, so we ordered one and it was actually nothing special. We shared... More

Brilliant period restaurant off the beaten tourist track - tiki bar and memorabilia and great selection of food. Down near Sand Island but worth the visit to take in the history of Hawaii past!
