The only thing we ate here were the manapuas as we had been told by locals that this was their specialty. We tried the char sui, Kailua pig, and the sweet potato manapuas. All very tasty, but preferred the "meat" ones. The Hawaiian sweet bread was a great twist on the traditional manapua. Great value, great manapuas!

This is a great place to try. It is much like a kolache except that the bread is 10x better. The sweet Hawaiian bread makes this a great dish. We tried the Portuguese sausage, the Kailua Pig and another pork that had a sweeter taste, I just don't remember the name. The pig was the best and the Portuguese sausage... More

If you like manapua, and want to take something back to where you are traveling from. Give this place a shot. Reasonably priced and easy to take home, it's a great treat to bring to your loved ones.

Great baked char sui bao manapua and pork hash for snacking! Reasonably priced plate lunches. Good roast pork, shoyu chicken, and roast duck sides.

I don't make manapua at home because of the amount of work it takes. Consequently, I appreciate that cheap dim sum of any kind comes at the price of exploited workers. The manapua at the Royal Kitchen are tasty, but they are not cheap. I hope that means that the workers get a wage more in keeping with the amount... More

A very popular place for baked manapuas! Tried the Portuguese sausage and it was to die for - highly worth the trip!

Tried the stuffed rolls. Some sweet, some savory. At a $1.30 each they were a decent deal. The ones with meat were a little light on the filling. The sweet ones were fantastic. I had purple sweet potato and coconut. Excellent. Area out front is a little seedy, with ample homeless population. Right on the canal, only a block and... More

I ordered a party platter sized CCS. It was very tasty but didn't have a lot of actual chicken in it! Service was quick and friendly. A definite try for anyone visiting...

You can't go wrong with Royal Kitchen if you're bringing goodies to the office, a meeting, a party, or wherever. I usually order the char siu baked manapua, pork hash, and maybe some half moon or look fun if I'm buying for a large crowd. They even have two types of chicken manapua if you're buying for people that don't... More
