We hosted our family who lives here in Hawaii for dinner. I must say, I was expecting much more form the advance hype for Roy's I read on the airliner. I did expect a more extensive menu and was disappointed in that regard. Some of the food was tasty, some of it was rather bland. Over spiciness wa a bit... More

Unforgettable again. Had a window seat, 11 people, the sun was just beginning to set. pinot noir was excellent. The table loved the tuna ahi appetizer and several sushi rolls, I think Auntie roll was ordered like three times.... Our waiter was perfect, nothing even small detail was less than perfect. The BUTTERFISH. Ha. wow. I think we had many... More

Our family had dinner here last night. Standouts are the seafood and duck breast: the butterfly fish is exquisite and the blackened Ahi was magnificent. There is a strong emphasis here on wasabi based sauces, and so if you don't like Wasabi, you may not be delighted. The Roy's Pinot Noir was excellent, but it was more delicate in flavor:... More

The food preparation is soo slow I am writing this review between courses. Fortunately the waiter is very nice about our special requests for bread (you have to ask for it; they only serve edaname), and they are very generous about refilling the water. It's also really cold here in the adjunct room even though we had requested the main... More

Roy's Hawaii Kai is the original Roy's and the ambiance and great food cannot be beaten. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff of Roy's did a wonderful job. The pacific fusion cuisine at this restaurant was outstanding. I ordered a deep-fried Japanese snapper, and it was delicious, and the presentation of the dish was amazing. The other diners... More

Roy's Hawaii Kai was once my wife and my favorite restaurant. The last time we went ther the food had degraded so far that I can't see going back. My wife had something like "African prawns " that tasted darn near rotten and I had beef that could have come from a food truck. Too bad..... Hopefully they get a... More

Of all the restaurants we've been to, both in Hawaii and on the mainland, Roy's Hawaii Kai is our favorite. This is the original Roy's, and Roy Yamaguchi still has his hand in it. Our favorite thing to do is hang out at the bar drinking Roy's Prosecco and having an array of pupus, including Auntie Lei's Aloha Roll, Frying... More

Once again, we knew that eating at Roy's was a sure bet. The only frustration was the large table of ~20 people who were incredibly loud (obviously thinking they were the only ones in the restaurant). We mentioned our annoyance to the wait staff that we could hardly hear ourselves at our table, but they seemed to think that there... More

I ordered the Sashimi plate and it was the freshest fish I have ever had. I couldn't get enough of the octopus. While the price was pretty high, the quality was incredible
