We always visit this Honolulu staple when on the islands. It is very touristy now, more so than in the past, but well worth the wait. We actually bought souvenir t-shirts which they are now selling. This place has been around for decades and it's the great food and fast service that has kept people coming back. The prices are... More

We wanted to try some "authentic" Hawaiian food while on the island. It's a bit off the beaten path from the hotels, but still easily accessible by car and bus. I thought it was just alright, but my friend loved her "loco moco" plate.

I haven't been to Rainbows since it was on DD&D so it's weird to see all the touristy shirt and souvenir selling and the parking is ridiculous. But it's still Rainbows. It's still cheap, freaky fast and super yummy so it's worth it.

If you want a great meal like the locals eat and don't want to spend a lot, this is the place to go. We ate here several times during our stay and it was great every time. Even if there is a long line don't worry, they crank the food out at a good pace and it doesn't take too... More

I always wanna tell tourists: it's okay to leave your hotel area and eat local. Rainbow is primarily local and casual with a smattering of tourists like me. Counter service and wait for your food. Lots of tables or take it to go, although I doubt gravy travels well! Enjoy local style food. Very good plates and an inexpensive price.... More

If you are looking for romance, or ambiance, or attentive wait staff, or premium cuts of meat, you are at the wrong place. This is a drive in, where the food is reasonably priced and reasonable good. We had a moderate wait to get our order in, but the food was nummy, and worth the wait.

Great plate lunch style ...walk up window..tables outside..large portions..great prices..plenty of variety...long lines that move fairly quickly. You can't beat the prices here.

Definition of plate lunch - large portions and tasty. Rainbow Drive-Inn never fails to give you large portions and tasty food. I lived in this area for 5 years and this was always a place to eat. But this time, as a transplant to Nevada, and, as a visitor, I took my bf here for lunch. We were staying on... More

I got the mixed plate with gravy all over. It was really good. The location was very close to Waikiki. You could walk from Waikiki if it was necessary.

This is a locals place and seems to have a pretty constant line. My cousin lives on Oahu and works in Waikiki and told us that we needed to get a slushy float after we had dinner next door at the Corner Kitchen. We ended up going back the next day for plate lunches. If you're in the mood for... More
