We were told this was the place to go by the rental car attendant at the airport. It's a local place that serves comfort foods. I thought it was worth a try since Guy Fieri visited the restaurant on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. I didn't see the episode so I don't know why Guy thought....but I won't be going back... More

We were in Hawaii for vacation. Just in time to witness 2 Hurricanes split the island. While there, I visited with a man watching his grandson fish. He was a local and new alot about the economy. I was telling him about all the great places to eat and discussing the over priced menus. He then pointed me to the... More

If you're looking for a great meal, that won't break the bank then Rainbow is it. If local food is what you want then stop by Rainbow Drive Inn on Kapahulu, you won't be disappointed.

So I fell victim to all of the hype from Diner's, drive inn's and dives. I had high expectations for this place. Only to be disappointed. I love local Hawaiian comfort food! The loco moco was terrible the cheap frozen hamburger patties and what tasted like bottled or canned gravy not good. The other food we ordered was very bland... More

See what you can gather from this....was in Honolulu 6 days and had 5 meals there. This is the real deal Hawaiian BBQ. Always a line...from opening to closing. That ought to be a BIG clue. If I am anywhere near it then I know it's meal time. Go for it!

Great casual spot for a quick lunch at super cheap prices ($2.50 for a burger and maybe $6 for a plate). Lots of locals!!

I loved the ambiance at Rainbow Drive-in where you order from a window and then take your food to a picnic table to eat. I shared plates of Loco Moco and Shoyu Chicken and both were delicious! I recommend!

We always visit this Honolulu staple when on the islands. It is very touristy now, more so than in the past, but well worth the wait. We actually bought souvenir t-shirts which they are now selling. This place has been around for decades and it's the great food and fast service that has kept people coming back. The prices are... More

We wanted to try some "authentic" Hawaiian food while on the island. It's a bit off the beaten path from the hotels, but still easily accessible by car and bus. I thought it was just alright, but my friend loved her "loco moco" plate.
