Good food and nice service

Liked the signature shrimp dish - service started out abit slow but in the end was very nice - food is good and if you go arrive early enough to see the sunset

We dined at Hoku's our first night in Honolulu on a 4 night visit to the Kahala Hotel. After a short afternoon of watching the porpoises in the hotel lagoon, we conveniently walked to Hoku's from our room. We were seated at a table on the window overlooking the beach. The restaurant was elegant and tranquil. The service was warm... More

This is a very cool space, right on the ocean, with wonderful food! I had an appetizer called the Ahi Musubi that was out if this world; if you're not too hungry, it would make a great entree dish too. We tried several different things and were surprised at how good they all were, despite being somewhat diverse types of... More

The restaurant has a great view and the cocktails are creative and refreshing. The fish was ok, probably a bit overcooked.

Shame. Service was excellent but the food itself was sorely lacking and over priced. $36 for 8 pieces of sashimi, and $65 for a small bit of lobster that didn't work at all with the accompanying artichoke, asparagus and mandarin. Excellent location and could be an amazing restaurant. But it's not there yet.

There was a time when Hoku's was one of the best places to have an elegant meal, outstanding service and inventive, delicious food. It is still OK, but the standards have dropped down. I think because of the amount of tourist that come through the restaurant, they are slipping on service. It appears that they try to fit all the... More

Food was of a high standard in an upscale setting. Ambience was good for fine dining. Service was very slow and unattentive plus got the order wrong. Had to complain and then it picked up.

We dined at Hoku on a Sunday night and it was truly one of the best meals we have ever had. From the location to the service to the food - everything was outstanding. The bank of windows means everyone can see and appreciate the ocean while they dine. India was the lead server and Georgia worked with her. I... More

Excellent pupus! Lovely wine; friendly staff. We just arrived and were exhausted, so a light dinner at the tiny bar suited us perfectly, and the host didn't hesitate when we asked to eat light at their bar. Our local friends recommended it highly, a restaurant they choose for special celebrations. Rightly so!

We had been to Hoku's several times in the early years of its existence. We enjoyed it but were not overly impressed. As a vegan, I was particularly disappointed. We stopped coming over 10 years ago when they offered me two salads for a two course meal and said they couldn't prepare anything else. We returned recently after a friend... More
