Underwhelming

This place is very expensive. Dinner for 2 with their regular price fix menu with wine pairing with taxes and tip will come to $600 or more. Is it worth it? I do not think so. Here is why: 1. The place offers price fix menu, no al carte is available, choose between 4,6 or 11 course menu. 4 course... read more

Paid US$ 700+ for three and only one of us had wine. Read the glowing reviews here but was quite disappointed. The staff seemed bored and tired. Almost no information was provided about the wines that had been selected. The food was nice but not exceptional. Pleasant ambiance but not a place to go for a view. Will not return.

Perfect service, gracious. Nice quiet tables. First course (fois gras) was great, perfectly paired for the excellent Sauternes wine. Then it went downhill. Cured opah good but not well matched to Sancere (a light unwooded red would be better). Pork trederloin had strong smoke taste not mentioned in menu. We rejected it and it was graciously replaced with lamb which... More

Second time here. Awesome as the first time. The tasting menus with the wine pairing are superb. The different flavors in each plates marry together perfectly. Here they serve the best fois gras that I have ever tried. Also Chef Mavro made a special dessert plate to celebrate my graduation. Absolutely recommended for any special occasion.

...a 500$ bill for 2 cannot be paid for not having the chance of choosing your meal (when we went there was a list of 3 fixed menus to choose from). Quality and service is very good but excessively expensive.

Went for a birthday celebration, thought the waiters were a bit too formal; would've appreciated a bit more interaction/socialization - especially for the price. The 4-course and 6-course menus were very tasty and well-presented, as were the wine pairings. The extra bday dessert, personalized, was a nice touch. It was pleasant but I expected more.

This restaurant was where our friend who lived in Honolulu took us several years ago. The restaurant is at off tourist area and very lo profile so you wonder. We re-visited Chef Mavro after so many years to check if it has changed. It is still wonderful and it has brought more ideas to their cooking. They kept their service... More

Chef Mavro's is a true French artistic experience. We had the tasting menu which was expertly prepared and presented. Substituting certain courses was not an issue and we essentially created our own tasting menu. The service was excellent although a bit less refined than one would find at La Mer. Even though, it is a true 5 star establishment !

The staff, Donna and Chef Mavro made this, by far, the best dining experience ever for Kim and I. From the time you walk in the door everyone is kind and happy. The staff makes sure you are comfortable and everyone smiles and laughs with you. Obviously a place where employee are happy to work. Donna Mavro stopped by our... More

Easy to find, easy to park. Dining room is quiet, comfortable, a perfect setting for meal perfection. My wife had the 4 course menu paired with wine. I wasn't hungry but had to taste the 6 course menu. We've been very fortunate - dining in some of the recognized finest restaurants in the world. We're adding this one to the... More
