I have previously posted my approval and enjoyment of the food here at Mavro’s. The food is great and every season a new menu is set along with excellent wine selections to be paired with each dish. My last two visits have been less than my previous experiences and this is the focus of this up to date review. The... More

"Oh oh" I thought, after reading some of the yelp reviews for Chef Mavro's. I had already made reservations. Will this be one of those dinners where we spend a a small fortune, eat foam and single bites of food, and have to stop at Zippy's on the way home? It turned out to be a wonderful, memorable dinner. Creative... More

Hubby and I recently dined at Chef Mavro and had the tasting menu or degustation. Everything from the superb service (deferential without being stiff or fake) to the food and matching wines was fabulous. We actually dined on the first night that Chef Mavro was bringing back two of his most famous dishes: the Onaga baked in salt crust and... More

As with Sundays at Hula Grill, a visit to Chef Mavro on our last night in Hawaii had become a ritual for us. The food was great, the atmosphere elegant but relaxed and, whilst expensive, the cost seemed appropriate. However, on our last night this time, we came away feeling ripped off. Perhaps the wonderful lunch we'd had at Orchids... More

Easily the best meal we had in Hawaii. Definitely recommend for a romantic dinner. Had degustation with matching wines and loved every course.

To all Gentlemen, Chef Mavro and his staff deliciously takes care of all the pleasantries while you and your spouse dine and converse intimately for a marvelous night out. The soup and fish courses were my favorite along with the dessert. Please do not judge this review based on my lack of recall for the culinary descriptions. After I ordered,... More

Chef's menu was superb, a delight for the eyes and palate. The only negative were the rolls, much too hard for me. The abalone, duck and lobster courses were wonderful. The wagyu course was good but not exceptional. The course that I am still salivating over is the goat cheese with chives with pickled kumquats and Big Island white honey.... More

Did I think I was in Yountville - well almost. Chef Mavro is doing some amazing things in his kitchen and offers one of the most unique and well planned meal experiences you will ever have. My highest compliments to the chef and his staff,

My dinner companion and I had the chef's menu, which was 7 courses. Standouts for me were many!! The meal opens with a delicious chilled carrot and orange soup with coconut foam amuse bouche, the tender abalone and creamy sea urchin foam paired with a 2012 Albarino from Spain for the next course was very imaginative and precise. We substituted... More

We experienced a bad to mediocre menu. A couple of dishes were okay. None justified the high ratings we read before making our reservation. The service was fine, a lot of show but poor delivery. We were told several times during our dining experience that the dishes will 'blow us over', in fact all were below what we have enjoyed... More
