Our favorite place on the island and our anniversary choice!!

My husband and I have gone for the last three years, the first time being when a client gave me a gift certificate which was already amazing. I made the reservation while my then boyfriend was deployed to Afghanistan. We went on the anniversary of our meeting weekend and he proposed that night with... read more

Service was great from the moment we entered the place, we had the 4 & 6 course menus with wine pairings. Food was inventive and exceptional, including dessert. This place deserves a Michelin star or two.

Most recently visited Chef Mavro on June 18 for a special cold water fish dinner after his recent visit to Alaska. The meal started with a creative and successful foamed vichyssoise. After a slightly disappointing ceviche (perhaps a bit too mildly spiced) the following fish courses were very good, the halibut was the best I have had, perfectly and simply... More

Perfect balance of friendly and formal service. The wine parings can be adjusted to one's taste, say, more red than white. Each plate is very special. Inventive yet classic. Chef Mavro presents fine dining, not just eating. No sense of hurry, so don't go there if you are in a hurry. The next plate arrives as you are talking about... More

We decided to dine here based on a friend's recommendation. If you like expensive, pretentious food without having a choice in what you order, then this is your place. Everything is decided for you -- you simply get to choose how many courses you want. We started with cold foamed potato soup, then a minimal plate of salad vegetables --... More

While not in the most scenic part of town, we found the food to be excellent. The service, while not in the same league as La Mer, was also prompt and courteous. Each course was prepared well and came out of the kitchen at a nice pace except for the meat course. There was a 20 minute delay in service... More

Thank you to Donna and to all the staff (and of course, Chef Mavro) for an outstanding experience! I was dining solo and the owner Donna went out of her way to make me feel welcomed. The 6 course dinner was excellent - especially the lobster and oysters. The lychee dessert proved to be a very good choice also. Easy... More

I can't understand why this isn't rated higher on Trip Advisor! It must be because it is small enough to have absolutely personal service, and the food is more than a typical tourist looks for on a Hawaiian vacation! A five diamond restaurant and in the top 40 guyot ratings! Every dish we had was extraordinary last night. Starting with... More

We had dinner last night. Great expectations... Very poor outcome. Service is excellent. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Foods are the worst one we've had in Hawaii in the past 5 days.Everything is salty and tasteless. We ordered an extra Wagyu beef dish. It tasted like rubber band... My sister could not even eat it. They did offer to... More

Mavro takes local ingredients and serves them in a truly Parisian style. Great food but out of the way location. Expensive but if a foodie worth it
