Best restaurant in Honolulu!

This was the best meal we had in Honolulu (and we had some fabulous meals). Chef Mavro combines the discipline of French techniques with an Asian/Hawaiian sensibility in his blending of flavors and ingredients. The service is impeccable. My husband and I went there for our anniversary and my birthday. We were early but were seated immediately. My husband ordered the 4 course Hana Hou menu and I ordered the 6 course Chefs Choice Summer Menu. Before we started, our server (she didn't tell us her name) asked if either of us had food allergies. My husband has... More

Our anniversary meal at Chef Mavro was spectacular! The wife is a tough critic, being the gourmet veggie chef, and she was delighted. The wait staff is friendly and professional, did a great job — really made us feel pampered.

My husband and I have friends who rave about Chev Mavro but we really had no idea why they were such fervent devotees until we went there ourselves. Yes, a dinner at this restaurant is extremely expensive. But in my estimation, it's worth it--even if you can only afford to go once. Every dish that came out was an exploration... More

Chef Mavro used to be one of our "go to" places when we wanted a lovely place to eat with fantastic food. Well, after our last outing there it has been changed to a "last time" place. First of all, we were surprised to find this usually crowded restaurant almost empty, and this on a Saturday holiday night! Perhaps we... More

We flew in from Maui to spend a gastronomic/shopping day. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave (for a plane to Maui), you are treated with gracious hospitality in understated elegance. The parking lot attendant escorted us to the front door and the hostess Ali seated us (we were a bit early for our 6:00pm reservation). Mrs.... More

We had dinner here on 17/05/15 as part of our exploration of places listed in the book 1001 Restaurants You Must Experience Before You Die. My diary notes for that night say "the most technically elaborate, perfect, multi-flavoured, presented, expensive meal I think we've ever had." There were set menus to choose from - Hubby had the 6 course and... More

The service was great and the ambiance friendly. The food was magnificent and well presented. Taste sensations that did not leave you feeling full. A great night out. Memorable. I am a foodie having dined at The Fat Duck, The French Laundry and Per Se. Chef Mavro rates as high as these prestigious restaurants.

On a daytrip to Honolulu, we had the good fortune of spending an uncrowded Sunday evening at Chef Mavro. Of course, Chef Mavro greeted us and welcomed us back. Since we planned to lavishly feast on the Grand Degustation menu and it was 6:00, Justin was informed that we had a 9:40 flight. He assured us that Chef Mavro and... More
