Used to be good, now overpriced and bland

We've been here a number of times throughout my life, and we used to like this place. The last time we came, though, it was awful. We got the kalua pig plate and the laulau plate, both with poi. First, the service was very disinterested and unfriendly. There wasn't a line to get in, and it... read more

This place serves delicious authentic Hawaiian food at a reasonable price. I was told locals eat here and we did see many local customers. We got there late and they were out of laulau. We ordered pretty much everything else on the menu. The Kalua pork was very juicy and tasty, the poke was so good and the haupia (coconut)... More

We drive by Ono's a couple of times before we finally saw it. It was well worth the find! Incredibly yummy and authentic Hawaiian food. My husband is not a fan of raw fish, but he loved their poke!! :)

I was glad I found this little gem on TripAdvisor or i don't think i would've braved this far from Waikiki Beach. We went a little early for lunch (11:30) hoping to beat any crowds. I had passed it once on the way to dive on the southeast shore and saw people waiting outside. I knew I wanted to hit... More

Referred here by locals for dinner. Very small and casual family run restaurant. There is a sign on the door that says have a seat and form a line to the right. We were seated right away, but by the time we left a line was forming. We watched several people enter, and be asked politely to wait outside. The... More

I was searching for good ole' Hawaiian food, maybe a little plate lunch and boy, did I get exactly what I was looking for and more... lau lau, lomi lomi, pipikaula, kalua pig, haupia, the freshest poi I have had since my first taste over 40 years ago, and good ole' local service... What more could you ask for? The... More

Our goal during our short stay on Oahu was to try as much poke bowls as we could get our hands on. This best was hands down, the best. Its easy to miss and very little parking. Be prepared to eat and get on your merry way fast (or take it to go). But I seriously cannot stress enough, how... More

We had read about this place in sites and Fodor's I believe, and I was dying to try authentic Hawaiian Food. So we went there past 3pm for lunch - and it was all he had hoped for. Place is small, super authentic. We asked the owner to help us out because we had no idea what to order. Poi,... More

The best Hawaiian Food in Honolulu. Salt Beef Soup, Lau Lau, Long Rice Noodles can't be beat. Seating for 20 folks so come at off hours to avoid a wait. Man the place hasn't changed in 25 years.

Want some real island fare. Pretty hard to go past Ono's. There are plenty of eateries that go for 'up market' versions of traditional Hawaiin. This is great home cooking - straight up. The portions are small and inexpensive, so take the time to try a few. It's a small joint so you may need to wait outside for a... More
