Enjoyed eating here. I loved the opportunity to try some proper traditional Hawaiin food. We allowed the manager to choose our food and we tried a lot of different dishes which was great. The food overall was good, some I liked more than others. Its very reasonably priced. The dessert was great.

Ono Hawaiian foods is one of the few places in Honolulu town that has authentic Hawaiian food. We took our friends from Japan to try it and they found the luau leaves in the laulau quite interesting. The safe dish to order is the kalua pig, which is smoked and shredded pork. Must try the poi, pipikaula (beef), and round... More

We had lunch here and ordered the Combination plate. We enjoyed it - except for the pipikaula. It tasted like a soft beef jerky. Avoid the pipikaula next time, for sure. But, we liked everything else that came with the combination plate. I am a local transplanted out of state so, I have an idea of what good Hawaiian Food... More

Originally from Honolulu, I now call Seattle home. However I get back as often as I can, to visit friends and family. Aside from that, there are 3 establishments that are _required_ visits any time I'm there: Liliha Bakery, Leonards (conveniently just a block away), and Ono's. On this most recent visit, it was the combo for me: Kalua pig,... More

This was the one place I had to hit while on the island, based on reviews I'd seen, and they didn't lead me astray. The restaurant is small and not much to look at, however the woman who served us was amazing!!!! She was an older woman who was so helpful and excited to share with us her authentic Hawaiian... More

Ono was recommended to us for its authenticity and local flavor and vibe, something we always seek when traveling. We were expecting to be wowed by the flavors and cuisine, but were sorely disappointed. The interior was dingy and did not feel clean, not to mention that the water had questionable random particles in it. We shared one of the... More

When we travel, we prefer local cuisine and 'off the beaten path' -- away from the tourist trap environment. Ono Hawaiian Foods was great! Our hotel host recommended after we told him what we wanted. It is a couple of miles from the beach at Waikiki and I'm really glad we made the effort. The store front is not promising... More

If you have a big appetite, get the combination! You'll get a taste of lots of different local food. Kevin showed us how to dip the onions in salt and the pork in the sauce he mixed for us at the table. Two of us shared the combination and still had left overs! it was great food at a great... More

I am originally from Oahu, relocated to Indiana but come back to the islands every couple of years for visits and the one place I always come back to is Ono's. The delicious authentic hawaiian food always calls my name. Lau lau, Kailua pig, haupia and poke. I've tried other places but this is the best. Service is fast and... More

...Go here for authentic Hawaiian food, devoid of pretentious people, servers etc. Ono's is the truth and be sure to try out the Luau platter. It was even a tad better than what I remember from my real luau the night before! Nice owner too.
