As others have mentioned, the food here is good and the place is small and far from fancy. Sort of a "dive" but somehow has its own charm. We had a late lunch around 3:00 pm and had no trouble getting seated immediately. Service was prompt and the food was good. The only disappointment was the portion size of the... more

When it comes to food, I am passionate about trying new dishes. I went to Hawaii a few months ago, and of course I had to try local food. I've been to many local restaurants and I must say Ono Hawaiian Foods was the best ever! Their food is so fresh and tasty!! I loved the restaurant atmosphere also ,... more

We first saw this restaurant on an Anthony Bourdain show and had to give it a try. It is for sure a "hole in a wall" , but the best hawaiian food we have ever had. Be ware that during busy times, you have to line up outside to be seated, but it is well worth it. more

I've lived in Fiji so the food here didn't surprise me at all but if you have never tried real Polynesian food it might not be what you expect. It's a good experience to have while in the islands but do know that this is a tiny little shack mainly frequented by the locals on their lunch breaks so you... more

Previous reviews said the male waiter was rude - don't mistake his kurtness with rudeness. He is in fact very friendly as is his female colleague both of which are happy to explain anything on the menu to you. The food is really nice, as far as Hawaiian food goes. Somethings I liked, somethings I didn't - but those that... more

My wife and I would never have ventured inside this hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant if we did not have a strong recommendation. We credit our tour guide Robert's effusive praise that this is the best Hawaiian restaurant in all of Honolulu, which made us want to seek it out even if it is a bit out of the way from... more

Please don't expect anything fancy. Plastic, checkerboard table cloths, diner style plastic plates and silverware.......beaten down location. The place needs a renovation! But, that's also what makes it so charming. Not many tables here, so go early or later. I recommend the Kahlua pork, Lau Lau or Chicken Long Rice. The staff has been around a long time and can... more

Fantastic place to get away from the glitz and tourist traps of waikiki and come get a feel for what real hawaiian food is about. Me and my boyfriend shared a combination plate and that was perfect. Loved the pork or chicken wrapped taro leaves. Even enjoyed the poi (taro paste) which is their equivalent of rice with the meal....lots... more

If you just want plain, honest to goodness, authentic Hawaiian food, you can skip the outrageously priced luaus, and head for ONO instead. This little, hole in the wall cafe is popular with locals and tourists alike. You can expect to wait a while for a table at lunch and dinner times, if you have managed to find a parking... more
