Fantastic experience and even better food

We were looking for something other than the typical tourist dining experience and hit the jackpot with Ono Hawaiian Foods. Dont be put off by the down market appearance of the place because what waits inside is worth a closer look. The service was quick and helpful and on the waiter's advice we... read more

Total dive, few seats and authentic food. Loved it. Server really nice and helpful. We split the lau lau chicken - it was like a combination plate. Would definitely go again if I was in Oahu.

The restaurant is like a relic from the past: it offers fantastic food for almost nothing. We ordered a long chicken rice platter and laulau, definitely enough food for two people. Laulau is to die for: it's a generous portion of pork wrapped in taro leaves. It's definitely worth a 20 minute walk from expensive Waikiki where $30 will get... More

We tried the location on Kapahulu because a friend recommended it. As a fan of lau lau, I was very satisfied. The portion was huge. The pork and butterfish inside were tender, moist, and juicy. The tako poke needed shoyu, but the texture was on point. I recommend Ono for authentic local food.

Went there for lunch with some friends and had a great time. I got the tip from a relative who lives on the island. The waitress was very nice, even though the place was crowded she took some time to explain the food to us and most of all how it should be eaten. I would recommend going before noon... More

Got a tip from a local, if you want real local Hawaiian food without going to a luau, this is the place to go, small family run restaurant, doesn't seat many people, must get there early gets packed fast and they close early when they run out of the fresh food, excellent excellent Hawaiian food

It's not fancy, it's small and chances are that you'll have to wait outside to open, the menu is not that extensive, the food is presented into plastic bowls, and they don't take credit cards. Cash only. And it was one of the best lunch that we ever had in Oahu... the pulled pork was moist, the onions were incredibly... More

Very casual place with only a couple of people working in the front. The guy was very directive and the idea that you have to stand outside until a table is ready could be a bit off-putting. However, the lady who served us was super attentive, quite directive as well, but gave us a good overview of what we needed... More

We were here for lunch during our trip to Oahu. And were fortunate to get a parking lot right outside the place. We ordered Laulau, kahlua pork with a few other dishes. The kahlua pork tasted more healthy compared to those we tried at other eateries. A little bit salty but great. Overall a good dining experience. The food was... More

We were looking for good local Hawaiian fare and were not disappointed. We tried the combination plate of laulau and kalua pig, both dishes were very good. The restaurant has limited seating for 25-30, overflow must wait outside in front of the restaurant. There were a handful of people waiting outside after we finished our lunch. The family owned restaurant... More
