My poor son lives in Dallas, Texas. He spotted an L & L there and ordered BBQ and rice. He says he took one bite and nearly burst into tears missing Hawaii so much. OK, so it's not gourmet. It's the essential local plate lunch. Enjoy! Mahalo Mr. Flores.

One of the great things about L&L Drive Inns is that each franchise is privately operated. There are standard barbecue plate lunches at all locations however the magic is finding a special location that serves specials that the local chef creates. Most locations are open for breakfast. Try the Portuguese sweet bread French toast--a real morning treat! Lunch mixed plates... More

We had heard L & L to be a must have experience while in Hawaii. We must have had bad luck when we arrived. The lady working the register seemed bothered we were there as she had to get up from reading her paper. She didn't greet us, was inpatient in taking our order and was impossible to understand. Then... More

It was late and the only fast food open had no other options @9:40pm Gross meat was tough, rubbery, fatty, I could not finish it just dumped it and spent $11 what a waste of money, Never again!

I love their chicken and pork katsu. It's deep fried with a panko covering that is crispy. I always eat part of my boyfriend's portion because the portions are so large.

Its an acquired taste, I suppose, but there is nothing special about this chain...and nothing particularly authentic. Everything tastes as if its cooked from frozen and with so many other choices in town, its not worth the stop.

A friend recommended the BBQ plate. So we made this a destination. We went to the Wahiawa location. The BBQ plate was excellent. Pork ribs, chicken and beef with brown rice. The sauce it was marinated in was tasty. The shop itself was rundown and in need of renovation, but the food made it worth the trip.

We really enjoy most of the menu items, lau lau is excellent, we found that we have a L & L here in Salt Lake City, however it's not the same taste for some reason.

L&L Drive-inn is a local chain that is very popular with locals. Greasy food at low prices. That's just what the locals like. It's kind of one step down from Zippy's, which isn't saying much. But if you find yourself virtually anywhere on Oahu and want a grease fix on the cheap, you're bound to be close to an L&L... More

Great food (not your typical mainland fast food) and relatively quick service! Large portions. Multiple locations. Must visit one of these places when in Hawaii
