We had dinner here on Friday, August 22, the final night of our week at the Halekulani in Honolulu. What a great choice to end the week. We selected the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings and it was fantastic. Asian flavors paired with European wines perfectly. The only course I may not have gotten was the three butters side... I didn't have high hopes on this restaurant since I had eating at MW early this week which suppose to have trained ex-chefs from Alan Wong's. This restaurant is located in the business district that isn't far from the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Upon arrival, the staff was attentive and explained the specials and how everything worked. My wife and I... More

Tasty food and haphazard service at Alan Wong's flagship on King St. We've been there many times and tonight went for a special occasion. Food was very very good; service not at all. Seems like they had the "B Team" on shift. Friendly kids but overwhelmed by a busy night. Slow to get food; pacing irregular. It got to the... More

There is a reason why this resto is always cited as the best in HNL. The service is superb, the food awesome, innovative, and extremely well-prepared. nothing disappoints. each presentation is gorgeous. the staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. we had a plane to catch and they were so nice and took our time schedule into immediate consideration. they even... Had to try Alan Wong as he is another regional cuisine chef. Glad we did as dinner exceeded our expectations. Do not let the location fool you as there is no disappointment here. We loved our entrée to dessert and will return again.

Food, atmosphere, service~ all over the top!! We have been to Alan Wong's many times and have never been disappointed!! The food is not only fresh and prepared to perfection~ the presentation is picture worthy!! BEST pineapple martini I have ever had!! The bar/wine menu is quiet extensive. All that being said, bring your wallet~But you get what you pay... More

Overall, the food was okay. I found my dishes to be a bit on the salty side. I had the porky pine for my appetizer and the miso butterfish for my main entree. I think with all the reviews, the taste can be a little more sophisticated.

We were aware that this restaurant was in a suburban location without views but figured that this wouldn't be a problem as it should be all about the food. The food was OK but didn't live up to the expectations we had based on reviews we had read. On the plus side is the fact that the menu is based... More

Had expected an amazing eating experience after reading some of the reviews. It was not. We chose a 5 course tasting menu. The first course was entitle 'soup and sandwich'. I am not sure whether Mr. Wong fancies himself as Honolulu's answer to Heston Blumental but having eaten at the Fat Duck he does not come close. The dish was... More

I must admit, this was not on my list of restaurants to visit on my short stay in Hawaii, but when we found out that we couldn't get into the restaurant that I wanted to go to on my birthday, we decided to book here and we were not disappointed. As we arrived, I noticed that it wasn't much to... More
