A few friends of mine (still living on the islands) told me to maybe try some place new because Alan Wong's is just a fad and not THAT great. As much as I love taking advice for restaurants, I decided to stick with my decision. And plus, we've never been, so why not? Service - it was good, but our... More

My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Alan Wong's and we had a wonderful time. When we made our reservation, they asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, which we were and received a complimentary dessert after dinner. My husband and I began with the chopped Ahi stacked on crispy won ton, then the tomato salad.... More

That restaurant is a absolut "To-Do" for culinaric Honolulu tourists. We have been there twice and had the pleasure to sit at the bar, where you can watch the chefs and their creativity. The way of cooking and the food itself were fantastic. The service was also great, but you should bring some money with you, as the food has... More

sorry. i see all the great reviews and the awards on the wall but it did nothing for me. fish that was covered in sugary sweet corn sauce and meat so overdone with peppers that you can't taste it (and i like pepper!). good restaurants at the level this is pitched at usually value subtlety and allow great produce to... I worry about the places that are really hyped but Alan Wong's restaurant was fantastic and well worth the time to check out! We chose the tasting menu with wine parings. Every dish was absolutely perfect! The chef integrated and highlighted local farms and growers into every dish. Each was presented beautifully! I appreciated the chef working with me to... More

This place looks pretty average from the street however it is a very nice room inside. There is exciting viewing of the kitchen action and the fitout is well done. We had a 5 or 6 course tasting menu with wines. One of the servings (a lobster dish) was quite tough, very difficult to cut and eat in fact. Apart... More

First, you have to find it. It won't be where you're expecting. Once you do, settle in and have a ball. Service is thoughtful. Food is inventive. What your server tells you is true. I enjoyed every culinary moment. Barry O. wasn't there in person, but you'll see plenty of his pics. Not hard to figure why he lives this... More

This was my third occasion to dine at Alan over the past 15 years, so I feared that the quality of the food would have declined. Not so. Chief Wong has made the decision not to over expand his empire. He is not locating his franchise in airports nor has he opened locations on the mainland. Rather he has chosen... More

The food is amazing, but it's a bit on the pricey side. Be advised that the portions on the a-la-carte menu are huge. You likely don't need both an appetizer and entree. So, consider sharing an appetizer or skipping it all together.
