we got a seat at the side overlooking House without a key so we got to hear the singing and the dancing. we could see the sunset too but we were a 2 rows away. the whole view and scenery was really nice for a special occasion and the food was great too of course! the food wasn't amazing, i've... more
I am currently working in Hawaii (yes, I know, poor me:)) We had actually planned to go to Le Mer doing my first week out there, but were unable to because my husband did not have the appropriate clothes. Le Mer is very strict about their dress policy. In my humble opinion, this is unnecessary in Hawaii. Unless you know... more
I've dined at La Mer twice. Once 10 years ago, and again on July 14, 2009, with a group of former co-workers (24 people). We did not have the front ocean view as we reserved a private room, but the private room was very nicely appointed. Simply put this is a 5-star dining extravaganza. The food is expertly prepared and... more
Two course dinner plus dessert, Glass of wine and their appetizer sampler cost right @ $320 including tip and was worth every penny of it. I would suggest as have others that the earlier the better for dinner as it is less crowded and the sunset on the ocean is beautiful. more
Whatever Zagat or a tour book tells you is the cost, add $100. We did the two course + dessert and a glass of wine with the first two courses - the bill was $330. Amazing food. The view is amazing. Be sure to book right when they open so you can see the sun set (although you do not... more
We came to Honolulu for our anniversary, and heard wonderful things about La Mer. We enjoy good food and don't mind paying for it, especially if it is a special occasion and we're expecting a great experience. The Halekulani hotel is gorgeous, and the restaurant has spectacular views. The service was friendly and attentive. However, all of this was overshadowed... more
I think you really should be a foodie to eat at La Mer. The complex menu items can easily be lost on most restaurant goers. The setting over looking the beach is gorgeous. I would recommend this restaurant for a very special occasion. more
This is simply the BEST meal of my life! I read it was good but I was overwhelmed with how good the food was! If I could, I'd steal the chef and hire him to be our personal chef at home. The food was not only delicious but beautifully artfully presented. I have a serious photography addiction and took over... more
While Honolulu restaurants generally are sub-par compared to international (or US mainland) fine dining, La Mer excels. The service is outstanding and attentive; the food is well priced, delicious and served in an appealing manner. If you want to spend money on fine dining while in Hawaii, don't go anywhere else. We had the 9 course degustation menu with matching... more
