It was a bit confusing figuring out how to order. They don't really explain what ingredients are in the sauce which is a bit of a concern for people with allergies. I went there based on the good reviews and I wasn't really impressed. The staff wasn't very friendly either. One of the workers rolled their eyes at me when... More

Okay to call it the best udon in the world is a stretch. But in the world of Waikiki's overpriced, touristy food options, Marukame stands out as delicious and affordable. It's no-nonsense, no-frills, good food and that's really all you need, when you're on vacation. You stand in line and not for very long, if you avoid the mealtimes rush.... More

Don't let the ever-present line outside put you off. This place is popular and the line proves it. The line moves fast, so just get in it and enjoy the beautiful sites and sounds of Kuhio Street. Worth the wait; noodles are made on site and cooked to perfection. Has the REG curry bowl and it was more than sufficient.... More

It's difficult to find great food at a great price in Hawaii, and this udon place has both. It you like Japanese food, this is the place for you. They make the noodles from scratch and give you choices of different types of udon. You can also add on different ala carte items, such as tempura and musubi. This was... More

The food was tasty, the amount of noodles in a Regular Bowl was fine, and there were a lot of choices of tempura, including soft boiled egg tempura. That was interesting ;-) It wasn't that expensive, for 3 people the total was about $21, which is a pretty good price in Waikiki. One tip: go to Marukame Udon Waikiki on... More

Lets start with my pallet background: I grew up in West Virginia but I'm half Vietnamese on my mom's side so my pallet is well versed in Asian culture. Yet i had never been introduced to the almighty Udon. My wife and I were walking past this place when we noticed it had a line 15 deep to get in!... More

So I'm from West Virginia but I am half Vietnamese. My pallet is very well versed in Asian foods. My wife and I were walking by this place one evening when we noticed it had a line running 15 deep outside the doors. You don't see that often so I stepped closer to check it out. From the front of... More

I never ever wait in long lines for food. It usually is not worth it and means it's over rated. Wrong. This place is worth the wait. Enough said

Most of the restaurants in Waikiki are either tourist traps or generic chains. This one is special and the line out the door proves it.
