We were seated with 6 other people at a large half mood table, since my partner and I are vegan, we opted for a vegetarian dish with tofu, and so they were sure to cook all the veggies first for us with no butter and then proceeded with the meats for everyone else. I will say, they veggies could have... More

We visit this restaurant on every trip to Waikiki. The service is great, and much more authentic than similar restaurants on the mainland.

Being a big fan of tepanaki cooking, (hibachi) this restaurant exceeded my expectations. Sans reservations, two of us arrived at 8:15PM for dinner. Understand that seating for this type restaurant usually requires a minimum of 3 or 4 people. After a few hurried phrases back and forth between the staff,we were seated immediately. This is a relatively small seating area... More

Good food, fresh and nice. Waiters are a bit inexperienced we ordered way too much for four of us and he should of told us that when we were ordering. Will go again, nice clean tepenyaki place. Expensive!!

Our chef was really entertaining and friendly. Unlike some teppanyaki in Australia where they toss food at the diners, there was none of that here, much to our relief. Our server was on the ball and looked after us really well. We had a lobster, steak and scallop combo which was only about USD45, which we thought was amazing value... More

We just loved the entertainment by our lovely Filipino Chef, making volcanoes out of onion rings and creating huge flames lick up to lots of applause, and cheering. Our food was delicious and we thought very good value for money. The staff are pleasant and it was a well run restaurant. It was nice to have a meal without batter... More

We went to Tanaka East for dinner on a Thursday night to celebrate a birthday. The Good: Chicken was good. Prices reasonable considering it’s Waikiki. They do a nice job with birthday celebrations. Very convenient to the hotels, especially the Hyatt which is right in front of the small shopping center where Tanaka East is located. They come round to... More

We are here on our last night in Honolulu. They prepare your food there on the flat grill. If you are familiar with Benihana's or similar style where they cook in front of you, then you get the idea. Very classy place. Service was great and the hosts were very accommodating.

We decided to try this place out while out and about. We were walk ins and told it would probably be a 15 minute wait. Unfortunately, the wait ended up being quite a bit longer. Definitely recommend reservations as those got seated immediately. However, they did provide us with free drinks while we waited. When we were seated, there was... More
