My sister lives in Kahala so we went to the Counter when I was visiting in April. It is a rather unassuming restaurant down a ways in the mall near whole foods. I wasn't expecting much but man was I blown away. You MUST order the sliders. These little guys were some of the best food I ate in Hawaii.... More

The Counter has a good menu selection. We built our own burger. Everything was fresh and the spicy sour cream sauce was good. Our waitress Nichole was really sweet and helped us get the most for our dollar. The chilli cheese fries are definitely worth it. I wish we had a place like this in Texas.

There have been a number of changes since our last visit, changes in the menu and in the decor and layout of the restaurant. The food was the same -- good, more expensive than before. We liked the change in layout -- with booths, it did not seem as noisy. Our service was poor. I think this place has real... More

I really enjoyed my burger but of course I got to choose everything that was put on it. A multigrain bun, 1/3 lb patty, romain lettuce, spinach, red onion, pepperjack cheese, garlic aiola sauce. Yum! It was very juicy. I also had sweet potato fries which I enjoyed also. There were 6 in our party and everyone had good things... More

All Hyped up. forget it, not worth getting excited about. just go across the street to Honolulu burger. That is unless you enjoy paying high prices for an average burger and a whole bunch of pretense.

We had been wanting to try this place and unfortunately were disappointed. When we arrived they were very busy but they seated us and were very friendly. We asked what the more popular items on the menu were and tried those. The shoe string parmesian fries were recommended but they were very greasy and just ok. We didn't think the... More

My first visit: came for a late lunch. If you don't like your burger, it is probably your fault, because you decide everything about how you want it from meat to cheese, to toppings, to sauces to bun. When we arrived, there was a 25 minute wait for a table, although I believe it would have been far less, on... More

Ok., ok. I'm really a carnivore. But I was really 'ono for a vegeburger all of a sudden! My sis took me to The Counter and I'm so glad she did. The build-your-own style of ordering any type of burger here was overwhelming, but fun. Burgers are pricey, but when you make it your way, I guess you have to... More

This may not be one of the best "meals" I've ever had in a restaurant but it was surely one of the best burgers I've ever had in a restaurant. Three diners with three totally different tastes and all were pleased. I had the bison burger with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, and a chipotle sauce. Loved it! My son had... More

Had lunch with my wife Colette while shopping at Kahala Mall. Thought we'd try the Counter. Food was very good and large servings. However the best part of the meal was our server, Jimmy. He was polite, knowledgeable and there when you needed him. The food is pricey though. It is a build your own burger which can cost you... More
