Healthy Plate Lunch and Delicious Hawaiian Desserts

I love Hawaiian plate lunch, but it can be a real calorie buster so Diamond Head Market is the perfect place to get a "plate" lunch on the healthier side. I love the Miso-Glazed Salmon salad and the kids love the Char Siu Chicken plate lunch. I always stop in the market to get delicious... read more

This is one of my favorite take out places. There are a few tables outside, but usually are taken. We've ordered and taken he food to the park or home many times. They have great Portabello Mushroom Sandwich, Grilled Salmon, Salads, Chicken etc.

The blueberry cream cheese scones are amazing! I got the 3 egg omelet with spam and fried rice. This place is amazing, local, hearty food that will keep you full all day!

Great variety of fresh meat, vegetable and seafood take-out. Can eat outside on picnic tables. Everything we ordered was a large portion of fresh and tasty food.

In our quest to escape the honky tonk that is Waikiki we stopped here for lunch on the way back from Diamond Head, drawn by people streaming in and out. Teriburgers were delicious, charred and juicy ($7). Tomatoes and lettuce on the burgers good quality. Daughter loved her chicken teriyaki sandwich ($6) The bakery goods were outstanding - shared a... absolute classic. A local put us on to this place, there is a market attached with yummy cakes and sweets but most people go for the Hawian classic the "lunch plate" a mixture of meats with mac, rice or salad. All are well priced around $12. I really enjoyed mine and all of the other people there looked equally impressed.... More

A popular spot for locals to grab a bite. There's a small grocery store section and a window order area for grilled food boxes. The blueberry and cream cheese scones seem to be a hit here but be aware that they are FILLING and I couldn't even finish one of them. They had some unique and delicious dessert options (i.e.... Had lunch there after visiting Diamond Head. The ahi and salmon sandwiches sounded better than they actually tasted. Kids enjoyed the filet. Fig bar and flourless chocolate cake were probably the best part of the meal. It is a bit pricey as everything in Hawaii. In summary, a good experience, worth trying if you're around there.

In our quest to mingle amongst the locals and always looking for a good place to eat, we decided to try the Diamond Head Market & Grill before heading out to the North Shore. We had read about this restaurant/bakery in a piece put together by Donna Bender called The Local Girls Guide to Oahu which I highly recommend you... More

Key question: Is is a special dinner / take away with special twist on food and menus? NOPE! DHMAG is a OK to good take away beside a small market / deli. Quite basic. On the food we had (Terriyaki Sandwich, BBQ Burger, Ahi Salad etc.) can't figure out anything special. The Ahi was OK, just last piece tasted odd.... More
