Great Local Food

A friend turned us onto this place and we are glad they did. This the type of place where you order thru a window, get your number, wait for your food and eat at picnic tables. Not fancy but the food was awesome. Plate lunch type of place served in Styrofoam. Rice, one other side and your main... read more

We essentially stumbled upon this place while driving back to our hotel. Hungry kids - and we decided to try it. The food is simply delicious! Great spot for foodies to get their fix and the kids to get their "loco moco" (hamburger and sunny side up egg on rice). Don't forget to get the cobbler from their market next... More

After hiking up and down Diamond Head we decided we would stroll back to our hotel. Along the way we came across the Diamond Head Market & Grill and when we saw the police in line to order, we knew it was the right choice for us. They make a homemade lemonade with honey that is absolutely delicious. I had... More

My wife and I were walking around diamond Head when we stumbled across this popular shack. This place is a popular take out spot with the locals with an attached little market that sells many precooked meals and salads. First , we got a quinoa salad from the market which was delicious. Then we ordered Ahi steak with Wasabi and... More

Busy when we stopped for lunch. You order at the outdoor window and eat outside at picnic tables or take away to eat elsewhere. I loved the portobello mushroom hamburger. Mushroom was the size of the burger. Husband loved the pork plate. Plenty of food at a reasonable price.

My favorite place for a plate lunch. Really, it's the only place I go for a plate lunch. Plate lunches can be greasy, not so great quality (though high on quantity), and bad for you. Diamond Head Market and Grill is the solution that that problem: the head chef there is great, serving high quality food with healthier options, (and... More

About a 15-20 minute walk from our hotel which was located near the Honolulu Zoo, this was a great place to get a kalbi rib plate lunch which included 4 meaty ribs in a delicious sauce cooked medium rare, along with a heaping scoop of rice and really tasty potato-mac salad that we substituted in place of green salad. There... More

Had breakfast here recently and must say I was impressed by the quality and portion size. Not overwhelming but more than satisfying. You could go elsewhere and be overwhelmed by the portion size and less by taste. For me fried rice served at breakfast determines how good the breakfast is. The fried rice was a little sweet, not as savory... More

Frequented by locals and tourists, the DHM is one of many simple, out-of-the-way eating joints that's definitely worth a visit, or in our case, several. I'd consider moving to the neighborhood just to be near the DHM. The scones are renowned and rightfully so but their breakfast and lunch plates are also tasty, substantial and well prepared. They have diverse... More

Read about the Market in a magazine we got at home in Arizona and made a note to try it next time on Oahu. It was the breakfasts that had been highlighted and the scones in particular. We climbed Diamond Head and rewarded ourselves with a blueberry cream cheese scone. It was huge and absolutely delicious. It is an obvious... More
