Around Christmas we ordered a few pies from this bakery and hoped to share them with our family for Christmas dinner. A couple of days after ordering, we had found out that our sister had already taken care of all desserts. I called this bakery with ample notice to let them know we would not need the pies. The woman... More

After having cupcakes the other day at a competitors. My friend had to bring me to the Mad Hatter and hyphed it up so much. We went on a Sunday morning and were greated by the owner grumbling that she shouldn't even be open because the had a migraine. I do empathize but then dont open. She offered the available... More

Okay, my title says best bakery in Newport. I haven't tried many others in town, but can't imagine any other being this good. We have ordered 5 cakes in the past year from here. NEVER are disappointed! The cakes and cupcakes are very fresh. The staff is always patient and beyond nice. I haven't tried the other baked goods from... More

We get all our baked goods here - especially for special celebrations. This place is the best - always fresh.

We were visiting Newport, but having dinner with friends at their house one evening. They asked us to bring dessert. AH! I had no kitchen to bake, so I quickly looked on TripAdvisor for a decent bakery. You should know - I'm a good baker myself, and am generally unimpressed with bakeries as I find they often don't use high-quality... More

Before heading out to Brenton Point, my wife and I stopped in to grab a blueberry scone. We had recently been to Hawaii and had some of the best scones ever. This one was as good as any we have had. It was moist and full of flavor!

On our first day in Newport we were getting a sandwich at the Deli. When we noticed this bakery we went inside. What did we find? A piece of heaven. The people were as friendly as can be and the display of baked goods was amazing. We bought banana bread, lemon danish and a blueberry scone. It was all so delicious... More

We found this place online before our trip up to Newport last week. We ended-up buying several things as gifts to people there (e.g., cupcakes, scones, etc.) as well as we brought home with us an excellent loaf of Irish soda bread! Fantastic place and super-friendly staff/owners!

Stopped in to Mad Hatters because we had heard good things about them, but ultimately, it was an average cupcake. We split a red velvet which was on the small side, and had way too much frosting. The cocoa flavor was there, but it was a little dry. The vanilla again had way too much frosting, perhaps because it too... More

Forget the typical commercial baked goods, as Mad Hatter Bakery is THE place for a cupcake, cookie, or baked good. Everything looked amazing in the glass cases. The creamed horn was so delicious, as was the death by chocolate cupcake and Oreo cupcakes. Lots of variety to choose from so you will not be disappointed. Two women were working and... More
