This is a cute and fun place for a reasonably-priced lunch. I had soup and a half sandwich, and we returned later for milkshakes called Awful Awfuls. On Mondays, you can buy-one-get-one-free, which is a great deal. I got a coffee flavor but it didn't taste at all like coffee, so I suggest another flavor; my husband got chocolate and... More

My companion and I stopped for breakfast at one of a chain of Newport Creamery Restaurants in Rhode Island - and not for the first time, either, at this exact same establishment. Which, of course, suggests it is doing something rather well for us to keep returning. And it does. The food is good, the service is cheerful and efficient,... More

My family is in to visit & the Awful Awful was on the list of their must have foods. It was every bit as good as remembered. We also had actual food the tasted great.....clam roll, spinach pic grilled cheese, fish & chips...all great.

Of course we had to stop here for lunch. We all had something that we enjoyed, can't remember specifics except that the onion rings were delicious! Had a junior Awful Awful which is a great milkshake!

My family ate lunch at Newport Creamery on two occasions while visiting Middletown. The food is good (similar to a Friendly's Restaurant). The difference is the ice cream was much better than Friendly's. My older son loves ice cream cookie sandwiches. They make them fresh for you with homemade chocolate chip cookies, your choice of ice cream then rolled in... More

Nowhere else can you find the simple, homey menu and service that you get at the famous Newport Creamery. They are so much more than ice cream. Great for travelers on a budget or those looking for the basics at a "lunch counter" type establishment.

We aren't from the area and wanted ice cream. We went here and ordered what we throught were comparable to a blizzard...it turned out that it was actually a milkshake. We were disappointed and this wasn't what we expected.

I lived in R.I. as a kid and I LOVED this place growing up. I revisited the area over 20 years later and it did not disappoint. It's like Newport's version of Friendly's. I had the Newport Creamery style burger and a chocolate awful awful shake. You MUST get the shake, however, I recommend the vanilla--even better. Our server was... More

Always a family-pleasing experience, from the fried clam sandwich to the Awful Awful shakes. Food is good and inexpensive, nothing over-the-top, but very satisfying. Bigger menu than it was 30 yrs ago, but most of the trademark items are here. I wish they would bring back the cowlick cone....my high school favorite. Also, I miss the stores in the East... More
