An old favorite.

Growing up in Newport in the '50's & '60's, a Saturday morning treat after shopping at Almacs and Perrotti's drug store was to have hot chocolate and English muffin...after being away for 40+ years, I had a couple of lunches there during my visit to Newport during my 50th prep school reunion week... read more

We travel to Newport RI often and when we don't want to get caught up in the visitors on Thames or America's Cup, we head to the Newport Creamery. Not fancy and just the right amount of choices to pick from. If you like milk shakes, the Awful Awful is amazing.

This is a great place to grab a bite to eat - nice range of choices on the menu and the ice cream is the best - if you are really into milkshakes, have an Awful, Awful!

The ice cream was fine, though nothing to write home about, but the service was at a snails pace. No get up and go at all. Thankful we weren't there in the summer. We never would have gotten our ice cream!

My husband and I were at the Carey mansion near the cliff walk around lunch time. We were talking to a couple of local guys and they suggested the creamery. That is where the locals eat, it was a great choice. They have a large menu, more American fare food with good size portions. If you are visiting check it... More

Design your own omelet was wonderful. Eggs, waffles, and good chicken. The service is attentive. Your coffee cup is never empty. The waitress is informative on local sights. Price is good. Would return.

My husband and I went for icecream, and the man working there was talking about someone else while serving me. He put three scoops on the smallest cone I've seen, so when I got it, it spilled all over my clothes and my husband who was next to me. The man was too busy talkig to notice the mess being... More

I love the hot dogs, and where else can you get a coffee malted frappe? Service is spotty - not unfriendly, but usually your waiter/waitress will show you only passing interest. Sometimes confusing - they really don't want you to come inside 'just' for ice cream when they are busy...so they asked me to tell them what I was going... More

Since none of the mansions serve lunch anymore (surprise), this place at the beginning of Bellevue Ave in a shopping center is perfect for lunch. There is a parking charge, but with validation, and free parking on weekends. Good selection of food and ice cream treats.
