Perfect dining experience after visiting the Mansions!

The main dining hall of the Canfield House is right out of the museums you've just visited in Newport. The elegance and detail in the hall heighten the trip but that is nothing compared to the tastes my family was about to experience. My younger daughter had the lobster Mac @ cheese - well crusted... read more

Beautiful decor and historically interesting building, food was above average, waitstaff was very friendly but not super knowledgeable about wine, ingredients, etc. Clam chowder was very good. Desserts and espresso were disappointing. Many empty tables on a Sunday evening.

Thank you Maggie Wiggins for your graciousness and hospitality. We had an amazing dinner with you and look forward to seeing you on our return visit to Newport. Canfield is worth an evening out. I loved my clam chowder, caprese salad with balsamic reduction, and chicken breast grilled to perfection with risotto , peas, pearl onions, and mushrooms. Had a... More

We dined here on a Sunday night in August and arrived at 9:00, closing time. The hostess checked with the kitchen and they were willing to take us. Glad they did because it was a really nice dining experience. The dining room was a casino at one time and is a fantastic space, great size and all in perfect condition.... More

We took advantage of the wine and dine package. $35.00 for two entrees and a bottle of wine! Prompt pleasant service. Hot food delivered promptly and it was delicious! Going again!!!😋😋😋😋

Ill start with the positive, there was parking, that should have been my clue. Nothing qualified as outstanding never mind delicious. The PEI mussels could not have been from PEI, the smallest salad I have ever been given (after the waitress delivered the wrong salad to begin with). The main meal of mixed medley came out cold and when returned... More

It always gets great reviews but I sure don't know why. Rather than a lengthy description of my evening, allow me to present a list: Cons: -slow, slow service -'oh,.... you want fresh ground pepper with that steak?' -I could have bought better beef at the grocery store. My two companions and I all ordered ribeyes and had the same... More

Our innkeeper( Cindy - Victorian ladies b&b) suggested this dining experience to us. We walked to the restaurant housed in an old exquisite mansion with quite an interesting decor and story. Reservations are needed. The prix fixe menu in two entrees and one bottle of red or white wine all for $35.we both had the salmon which was perfect ,... More
