Spent the weekend in Newport and stumbled on this great restaurant. I very seldom log on to review any business but this restaurant deserves a shout out. We had made phone reservation and we were met at the front desk by Maggie. Our server as well as Maggie were very pleasant and willing to share the interesting history of the... More

We came here when staying at the Hotel Viking for my husbands 50th birthday. It was one of the best meals we've ever had. We had the mussels and clams app in a creamy broth that we needed to,ask for extra bread so we could soak up every drop of the yummy broth! My husband had the prime rib and... More

Just got back from the Canfield House, and we are still raving about the food. It's a lovely place, and the menu relates the tale of Mr. Canfield (big-time gambler and casino owner). We had the restaurant virtually to ourselves (Sunday night, off-season, so it's understandable). The waitress was pleasant and attentive, and the service was fast. With one glass... More

Once again my wife and I visited Newort and ate at the Canfield House. We have never had a bad meal here, (or even just an OK meal). The two dinners and a bottle of wine for $35, can't be beat! (Tuesday thru Thursday) This time I had the mussels and clams. Outstanding! The sauce was delicous. My wife had... More

We had a wonderful group dinner at the Canfield House. Food was great and the service was lovely. The ambiance was warm and welcoming. We ate dinner at many of the finest restaurants in Newport over a long business weekend-many were good-but the food at the Canfield House was the best.

We dined here earlier this week and took advantage of the two entree and bottle of wine special. The steak frites were very good and the pasta Bolognese was even better. I'd most definitely dine here again.

I went for dinner on Valentines Day and couldn't have been happier. This isn't near the water but you usually can't see the water at the restaurants that boast waterfront dining. The best part was, the food was fabulous, the menu was varied and interesting, the service was attentive and the prices were reasonable compared to the more recognized restaurants... More

If you're looking for a Victorian atmosphere with high quality food, this is the place to go! The food was delicious, the service was great, and our server was so friendly that it made the dining experience even more pleasant. The dining room was a unique, comfortable, old Victorian style and the outdoor porch bar had a more updated chic... More

This was our Holiday dinner with the sales reps of our company. We go to Newport each year for 3 days to thank the people in our company for all that they do. 4 years ago we decided to try a different restaurant for the Friday night dinner. I won't say who we left. The Canfield House was where we... More
