This is the restaurant to go to if you are NOT looking for a loud and modern atmosphere. This is actually the inside of Newport's only Casino from way back when(read about it on the restaurant website)..The wood work and architectural details are amazing! The dining room has a rich warmth to it and is not too crowded with tables.... More

The restaurant, like so many places in Newport, has a storied past. The food is remarkable. Very well done and the presentation was great. The staff and chef went out of their way to make our Valentine's dinner memorable.

I found this a difficult review to write. We had reservations. When the hostess went to seat us she took us to the center of a large dining room when there were seats available on the side. I asked to be seated near the wall as I preferred not to have people passing on both sides of the table. She... More

Someone at Waves salon recommended this restaurant to us (we never would have found it) and we had the best meal (celebrating a few birthdays). The atmosphere is so different than most of the restaurants by the water, so that was unique and fun. Some of the old gambling things are still there. Really cool painting behind the bar. Our... probably our favorite restaurant in Newport. Maggie and team go out of their way with service, menu choices, convenient parking, courteus staff and wonderful food.

Canfield House once was a casino in the early 1900's and it is now a restaurant and bed and breakfast. It's not your cozy restaurant feeling since it is in one big room. We just had dinner there and it was a little disappointing. I'm not sure because it was off season or right after the holidays but there was... More

The menu has something for everyone. We had an early reservation and had the place almost to ourselves for a short while. Our server Stephanie (?) was great. Professional, sincere and good sense of humor. We asked to do a few things a little different than the menu and no problem. The food and the service exceeded our expectations. The... More

Have always wanted to try this restaurant and it is very hard to judge a restaurant on a busy holiday. The Canfield House far exceeded my expectations. It was located near our B & B which was great plus they had Parking, which can be a problem dining in Newport. We had a late seating for New Years Eve. We... More

The atmosphere mid-week the second week in Dec. was fabulous. The decorated tree was enormous. What a wonderful place to visit this time of year. No lines, no waiting.
