Something about the Hungry Monkey seems a throwback to the 1960s but in a good way. Its excellent breakfast menu--some of it written in chalk on the back wall--is always appealing and delicious. The place is packed and my favorite seat is at the counter. Like a number of Newport breakfast places the Hungry Money features Portuguese influenced food. Pictures... More

We visited The Hungry Monkey for breakfast. The food was ok but the poached eggs had dried out and the home fries were bland. The fruit salad was basic, melon and pineapple with half a strawberry, no blueberries or raspberries. The staff were professional. The menu said no substitutions. Overall ok but the food was not the best and the... More

really cute place to stop and enjoy breakfast. the food was delicious and the owner was funny and made jokes. She asked people to move over, so that my friends and I could sit together in a group-which was really sweet. thanks!

Got here about 30 mins before closing and they were still really friendly and accommodating for lunch! The waitress was really sweet and came back with servings of coffee. Great fries, sandwiches, and salads! Would come back here again!

If nothing else, it’s a pretty adorable name for a restaurant. Luckily, they had more than a cute name to offer. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? And, well, lunch is pretty important too. Hell, I take all meals pretty seriously. This local, casual restaurant only serves daytime fare, breakfast and lunch, so, make sure to stop by... More

Big portion of breakfast. Banana split French toast is highly recommended if you have a good appetite. I couldn't finish it. Reasonable price. Service is a little slow but it's worth the wait.

This is a really neat place to have breakfast. The menu is quite extensive and creative. The Portuguese Hash is great. We had good service although we missed seeing the owner, Jimmy. (We had talked to him the day before and he was very helpful in giving us directions and advice.) The decor is really cute. The use of the... More

Cute place for breakfast or lunch. I had a little bit of everything for breakfast, great selection including monkey bread French toast. The cinnamon rolls were great too. Nice place to stop if you are taking a walk through Newport.

We were intending to go to Corners Cafe, but due to the wait, we walked down a block and saw the Hungry Monkey. We waited about 15 minutes. The service was a bit slow, with one waitress running around. However, the food was very good. I had the sweetbread french toast and Portuguese sausage hash. It is a definite go... More
