Great place for lunch

Had a very enjoyable lunch downstairs but every time the door opened a cold blast came in. The food was very good. The chowder is delicious and the house salad is huge. Definitely will go back but will probably sit upstairs. It is probably fine in nice weather.

Benjamin's is across the street from Bowen's Wharf where we were staying. I had read some reviews that the fried oysters and lobster roll here are the best in town. We ordered steamed lobster with clams and Portuguese broth and fried oysters. We were a little underwhelmed. For example at Blue Fin Grill (Boston), the fried oysters are very plump... More

Cool place to enjoy the raw bar (catch happy hour if you can). Delighted in the lobster grilled cheese. Loved the grand Marnier bottles...would have liked to buy my own and stop by often enough to have made Benjamin's my local spot.

Was so looking forward to having dinner here with my husband for restaurant week. They were severely understaffed, and the service was horrible. I waited almost an hour for my Ceaser salad appetizer, then when it was brought, it was the wrong salad. My prawn dinner was so dried out and barely edible. I would maybe go back here for... More

Yeah, we went for breakfast and very good. Homemade corned beef with eggs. Yum! My husband had the blueberry french toast and I am STILL hearing about it. My nephew had the pancakes and they were bigger than his head!! I'd be interested in tasting lunch and dinner if the pub breakfast was this good.

By far the best place in Newport for a quick and affordable meal that is always fresh and delicious. Have never been dissapointed.

So glad we were able to get into our favorite restaurant on Valentine's Day. We both had one of the specials. It was a puff pastry filled with lobster and I think scallops. It was the best dish I have had there. I have never had a bad meal here.

We stopped upstairs in Benjamin's on March 13th. Staff was very friendly. Our order was out quickly. My husband ordered the special for the evening.....prime rib. It was the biggest I had ever seen and was cooked to perfection. I had scallops and angel hair which was covered with delicious scallops....heavenly ! Our wait staff was very good and we... More

We met here for a business get together. I ordered the lobster bisque. It was terrible (too buttered and too much alcohol) not subtle at al. I could not eat it. The folks I was with enjoyed their burgers. The waiter never asked if our food was ok and did not enquire when he removed my full bowl.

I was in Newport during the frigid sub zero weather in February. We stopped to get out of the cold and enjoy an early dinner. The food was great, the restaurant could have been warmer, but maybe not:-(
