We would probably have passed it by if it had not been a suggestion of our hotel concierge. The food was fantastic. I had a wonderful risotto with scallops. But the calamari salad was the best dish of all. My husband had fish 'n chips and it was overflowing the plate. Great atmosphere. Fairly quiet but not stuffy and very... More

We visited Benjamin's on our visit to Newport in October. Food was very good, service was good, no complaints at all. If you are looking for good seafood in Newport, this would be the place.

This is one great restaurant! Six of us walked in, sat down and immediately were greeted and handed menus. Cocktails first which were generous and apps to follow. The 6 appetizers came at the same time and were outstanding. The local oysters were crisp and delicious. The entrees were also all served together and were all delicious. Scallops were yummy... Stopped in with our son while visiting for family weekend @URI. The set up of Benjamins is interesting - downstairs is accessed at the street level, while gaining access to upstairs is via an outdoor staircase. We chose to go upstairs. The room is inviting and warm. The hostess was friendly. Our server was not so, but perhaps she was... More

Great bar. Seemed to be full of locals. Not a fancy place, but they were selling clams and oysters faster than they could shuck. I ordered a manhattan, which was made with care and perfection. Perfect place for a drink, dinner looked good, too!

We were told that this a favorite locals restaurant and we can see why. While casual it has a wonderful atmosphere. The food was delicious including an app of fried oysters, home-baked mini loaf of bread (extra charge), full bar, great prime rib and a delectable seafood casserole. Too full for dessert! Convenient location in town near shops. Reasonably priced.... More

You have many choices for raw bar when you come to Newport RI. Benjamin's is the place to go! Paul and John the owners make sure that you have the freshest seafood at a fair price. The bartenders are great along with the wait staff. Try it out in the off season. You won't go wrong.

I ordered the linguini which had fish, shrimp, mussels, and calamari. It was decent but the sauce didnt have much flavor. Our food took forever to come out, so it was a good thing we didnt have anything planned for after. Yet, the waitress was very nice and checked up on us several times. I'd suggest trying benjamins only after... More

Visit every time we are in town! The menu, service and location ate all the best. Lobster, oysters, clams are fresh and well prepared. Drinks are the best!
