Great Food & Excellent Location

My family recently visited this restaurant while on a family vacation. They offer an excellent happy hour menu from 4 – 7 pm. Everything on the menu is $13.95 including the lobster! If you have priced cold water lobster lately, you know this is a great price. The food was very good and the... read more

Love this place!! The oysters rockefeller are some of the best. 1/2 price raw bar from 12 - 2 pm is a great deal...When it is open sit upstairs on the 2nd floor with Bethany the bartender...she is a fun time...and...that is where the only bathroom is!!.....there is also the crows nest, a little known 3rd floor, partially out side... Walked over from our hotel for breakfast twice. Both times, nice fresh fruit, good basic, inexpensive breakfast meals, downstairs. Best part of Benjamin's was the late night kitchen, upstairs. In the off season, Newport stops serving around 9pm. Benjamin's serves full meals, late. We ate good hearty, chowder, soups and salads. Nice dessert. They could use some protection from the... More

Arrived Newport 9:00 on a Wednesday and although most kitchens were closed, I was very pleased was open for business. I sat at the bar upstairs and had a really enjoyable meal with a bartender who went by the name "Jammin" who seem to know just about everyone in town. I had a generous bowl of Mussels Zuppa style and... More

I had eaten breakfast upstairs a few times but never downstairs for dinner. Started with raw bar..oysters and little necks. Some of the best tasting very cold half shell items I have eaten. The wait staff was very pleasant and on top of things. I had the Elk brisket. Delicious!! Everything that came out of the kitchen looked and smelled... More

We always frequent here on Tuesdays to take advantage of the $1 oysters and $0.50 littleneck clams. The shucker is world ranked number two! So clean and fresh you can eat a couple dozen! Great service as well.

When we first walked in I was worried about the smell of last nights spilled beer reminding me of a my frat house from 18 years ago. I'm glad we stayed as the Lobster Eggs Benedict and home fries was outstanding. There is a more of a restaurant atmosphere upstairs than in the bar area but a word of advise,... More

Visited here for a late lunch a couple of weeks ago. Recommended by a local. We actually got there about an hour after the "lunch specials" timeframe but were still allowed to order items on that menu, anyway. If you are an adult, but still a fan of your childhood favorite grilled cheese, you will be in HEAVEN after the... More

Benjamin's is across the street from Bowen's Wharf where we were staying. I had read some reviews that the fried oysters and lobster roll here are the best in town. We ordered steamed lobster with clams and Portuguese broth and fried oysters. We were a little underwhelmed. For example at Blue Fin Grill (Boston), the fried oysters are very plump... More
