Tried the calamari pizza - it was ok. But the atmosphere & location of this place is just wonderful. Table overlooked the bustling street outside. We enjoyed it.

We've been to the Red Parrot a couple of times and always had a good experience. We were taking some friends down to Newport who had never been and after seeing the wait at some of the other restaurants, ventured down to Red Parrot. Although it is centrally located, it never seems that busy- we are always seated promptly (a... More

Thanks to tripadvisor, we found this gem on Thames St in downtown Newport, Rhode Island. Our three lunch dishes: the lobster quesadilla, the mahi sandwich and a salad with seafood. Each was fresh, creative, tasty and promptly served. The prices were reasonable, the environment cheerful (reggae playing) and the service excellent. We were very impressed. Good restaurants deserve attention and... More

With so many choices in Newport, it was tough to decide where to eat with our 5 year old and 2 babies. After walking around awhile, we decided on this, not sure what to expect. We were very happy. The man at the door immediately offered to help with our strollers, the hostesses were so nice, and our waiter was... More

Welcomed by the first floor hostess who sent us to the second floor altho there were a few tables we could be seated at. Went to the second floor and that hostess seated us by the servers door in the dark back. We passed by no less than 8 empty tables, to the very back.

Stopped here for lunch after busy morning at the mansions. Good food and service. Clam chowder one of the better ones we've had this trip. Lobster quesadillas were also tasty. Efficient service.. Food came out timely

We return every year for lunch during our annual beach vacation in Narragansett. The food is always carefully prepared and delicious. I had a Blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich with sriracha caribbean sauce on herb focaccia bread, substituting fresh green beans for salsa and chips. Others had pizza, New England clam chowder, grilled chicken sandwich and shrimp. The service was attentive.... More

The food selection is not too great, but adequate. Food is prepared well, reasonable portions. The service leaves a bit to be desired. In all, not too bad, but given the competition in the area, one would expect a bit more effort.

3 floors means lots of availability and no need to book. Nice, clean, smart restaurant, very extensive and nice menu. The size of the place detracts a bit from the atmosphere but it was a good place to have a family supper.

Right in the middle of downtown Newport. Though there was confusion in seating us, things picked up. We were waited on right away, and the water came right up. Out appetizer of nachos was enough to feed an army!! The burger was delicious and enough for 2. A well rounded menu and not to pricey. Just right at the Red... More
