A delightful little bit of France amidst RI glamour!

This place is a breath of fresh air after all the hustle and bustle bars on the waterfront. The food is faultless - beautiful crisp duck, tender steaks, crab cakes among the best, a creme brûlée to die for - large but someone had to finish it! Difficult to find lo fat, low everything food - but hey... read more

I visited here during the summer months and enjoyed a Malibu/Pineapple juice drink. The bar was completely crowded and seemed to be run by locals and overtaken by regulars. No idea how this place gets new people in without the food. "Have to visit" for Newport- next time will be better with food :)

Had a 3pm lunch there on Nov 8, 2015. It was restaurant week, so we had an app, meal and dessert for $16 a person. I had the clam chowder, very good. Fettuccine with a pesto cream sauce, delicious! Dessert was a bourbon bread pudding, very tasty! Atmosphere was nice, service was very good. We went at 3pm so it... More

I thoroughly enjoyed this place. Big room with an L-shaped bar, good drinks, great atmosphere, big windows looking out onto Thames Street. Can't say a bad thing.

It's hard reviewing this place becasue the meal was great. So really 5 stars to the kitchen. And the service was very bad. No stars. So I guess that average is 3 stars. We had great calamari and mac and cheese. Kids lived their flank steaks and all adults enjoyed entrées but to be honest the waitress was not nice..not... More

I was introduced to this place several years ago by a friend and ever since then I have been making a point to go for dinner almost every time I get to Newport. The Atmosphere: this is a real Newport Place, lots of sailing memorabilia, pictures and a very nautical decor. Small yet cozy bar on one side and the... More

Zelda's. For 20 years now, one of my top go-to's. Great food, always someone there that I know. Good drinks. 100% Newport. Thank you Zelda's. Please never change.

We arrived a half hour after they opened, the bar was packed and noisy. We were allowed to pick out our own table, we chose a table in the back, which was cozy and quiet. This is a very intimate dining room in a very small space, but it works. Our server was excellent and steered us in the right... More

Friends recommended making a reservation at Zelda's. I said with all the place to eat why here and she said you won't be disappointed. That was for sure. Menu excellent, seating very cozy, service was over the top. I would take a shot here if you are looking for an alternative outside the wharf area. On lower Thames so it... More

Fantastic staff and food make cafe Zelda a great place. Start with the RI style calamari and finish with the root beer float. In between the scallops were done perfectly and the chowder hit the spot.
