Every year we sail to Newport and visit Zeldas. We love their food, enjoy the atmosphere (especially the window tables), and appreciate the attentive servers. This visit my husband enjoyed the mussels appetizer and the delicious duck with duck confit, sausage and pate. I was happy with the salad and the tuna. The staff was very helpful in making a... More

Only stopped in for a bloody nary as we had heard they were the best in Newport. I am not one to argue! Next time we will have to try the restaurant.

This shoreline R.I. town can be a little over the top and cutesy (especially in summer) but Cafe Zelda stands apart, far down Thames Street away from the maddening crowds. It was our first visit -- three seniors with modest appetites (a couple of appetizers and a cocktail each often satisfy our early evening outings. We were not disappointed and,... More

We stayed in the bar side and met dozens of local folks all curious to get to know us. As a bar in a sailing town, the walls are covered with photos of racing yachts, and the patrons all sport rain gear and have wind-weathered faces. The excellent barman mixes up classic cocktails with quality and aplombe. Great place!

Zelda's, a "French bistro," bills itself as "The best little cafe between Bar Harbor and Key West." Au contraire, mon amie! But to be fair, Zelda's Brittany mussels appetizer was quite tasty and ample. Moreover, my companion said her chowder had more clams than any of her many other cups or bowls contained in her previous samplings while we were... More

We walked around and skipped several restaurants because they we're extremely noisy, and we like to have a nice conversation with my wife when we have dinner. Although this place has a bar, they put a door to separate it from the restaurant, so it was not a nuisance. We were lucky that we got a table in Cafe Zelda... More

Started the busy Saturday night by getting a parking spot right in front of the restaurant (awesome). After a warm greeting we found ourselves seated in high energy bistro/cafe.The adventurous menu did not disappoint. Started with a bottle of Savignon Blanc, a bottle of Cabernet, the Escargot (very good), Foie Gras "Bruleè" (awesome) and Warm Gorganzola Sour Dough (average). Main... More

Most of the night life and restaurants in Newport are along the waterfront. Follow America's Cup Ave from north to south then the street turns into Thames Street. We were in Newport on a very busy Summer weekend and it was impossible to get into any place for dinner except after a long wait. On our second night, we walked... More

Great meal with interesting combinations. My husband had the fried lobster, which was an interesting preparation, but very good. My filet was a bit undercooked, but the waitress was very accommodating and it was returned to me quickly. There were four in our party. We each chose different entrees and were all satisfied.
