We showed up at Salvation Cafe without a reservation and found we might have to wait 20 to 30 minutes... unless we were okay with sitting way out back on a porch-like addition which, in the summer, leads to outdoor dining. As there were effective heaters suspended from the ceiling we decided to stay. There were, however, a couple of... more

I've read some great reviews on this place, and while it wasn't top on my list (we were looking forward to great seafood, french and upscale restaurants to dine at), it certainly was a delicious meal! One evening, after a full day of touring Newport, we decided not to get dressed up to go out to an expensive meal. Instead,... more

Funky atmosphere was lively, service was as good as possible considering they were packed. Drinks and food were delicious and we returned the next night for a repeat performance. We'd definitely recommend this restaurant! more

Nice, fresh energy at the hip Salvation Cafe. Innovative and skillful meals on a small and focused menu. Great fish and vegetarian dishes. The drinks were equally adventuresome and delicious...a coconut mojito? So good. We really enjoyed our meal here. The cafe also has outdoor dining with a festive ambiance. more

Salvation was very busy the evening we stopped by in August. My husband wanted to try this place...I have to admit it was not my first choice - it was crowded and extremely loud. The only reason was stayed was because they had a table and leaving would mean driving back downtown and parking somewhere else. Which, on a weekend... more

We ate here this past weekend with our group of 6, and we couldn't have been more pleased with both the food and the atmosphere. The place is a funky, fun & eclectic mix of stuff, and we were pleasantly surprised to be taken to the rear dining room for our meal. Way in the back of the restaurant, there... more

Despite the initial misgivings when you first step into the restaurant, everything that follows is fantastic.Keep walking and you'll find yourself in a garden patio reminiscent of southern California. Cool, hip, funky, wild...whatever. Decor and atmosphere are surpassed only by the food. I had Tandouri striped bass and it was the best meal I've ever had. And when you enjoy... more
