Just had dinner at this restaurant recommended by several friends, and we were very impressed. Casual, eclectic atmosphere, very good service, and an enticing menu. Shrimp and grits was an unusual offering in New England, but out of this world in taste! The swordfish special was outstanding as was the dessert. We overheard several other nearby patrons commenting on how... More

I had read good reviews of Salvation Cafe and I'm glad we went! It's a quirky looking, unassuming place with good service and delicious food. They were able to modify my gluten and dairy free diet by modifying the entree, which I always appreciate! Our server was friendly and pleasant and did her best to accommodate, going between the chef... More

We were attracted by the signage outside and the recommendations of our hosts. When we first arrived we were surprised by how empty the front bar was and we were actually surprised by the big back room and outside patio. Initially we were unimpressed with the very limited menu, but we forged ahead and ordered the lobster spring rolls which... More

This has always been my favorite restaurant in Newport. Unfortunately, my last trip here was disappointing. The beat salad was mediocre and the recipe changed. It used to be the best beet salad, can't imagine why you'd change it to make it like everyone else does. The Pad Thai had all dark meat chicken, but the chicken was very fatty... More

With its interesting name I was curious as to what sort of place this would be and I was not disappointed. Retro artsy decor with colorful staff made this a perfect choice for dinner. The menu was varied and healthy with fresh ingredients and able to be modified for singular tastes. I had the beet salad with salmon on top,... More

Fabulous soup and I thoroughly enjoyed the beet salad with its hearty portion and fabulous taste. Great place for dinner--oh and the waiter was very felicitous.

Just about my favorite place in Newport to eat. Salvation isn't located in the middle of town but easy to find and walk to. Great drinks, service and food. Try the banana purses for dessert or some crispy spinach that melts in your mouth. You will not be disapointed.

We were looking for a nice romantic place for a Valentines Dinner and were referred to this spot when by our first choice resturaunt that was booked. Boy were we pleasantly surprised. A ten minute walk in the driving snow from our hotel brought us to a quirky downstairs and then a walk up the stairs to the funky 70's... More

I love the choice of dining rooms (funky front room, pagoda room, outside out back). During the summer it gets a bit busy, and loud, so it is definitely not a place for a romantic dinner. Wait staff is draw- some are excellent, and others could care less. The food quality has generally been consistently good and interesting but not... More

Our family enjoyed a spectacular menu designed specially for New Year's Eve, just as we have done the past handful of years. We all look forward to Salvation Cafe's creative genius with flavors, textures and culinary sensations. While we adore this eating spot anytime throughout the year, their special offering each New Year's Eve has become the highlight of this... More
