This place is a real surprise. The decor is very basic, like a retro diner in the 60's but the food that comes out of the kitchen is amazing. After 2 weeks of eating steak, ribs and fries and not much else whilst in America, the choices here were such a refreshing change. Great waiter, great atmosphere, great, great, great!

The owner and staff at the Salvation Cafe put on a great party for my husband's & my Vow Renewal Ceremony and Party. They were flexible in working with my requests, put on a fabulous buffet with delicious foods and made recommendations for other local businesses I could work with for services I was looking for. We are not a... More

Don't judge this place by it's informal decor. Food was outstanding and inexpensive. We recommend the pretzel bun burger, curried butternut soup and foie gras with chocolate and sorbet, until the seasonal menu changes that is. All dishes offered unique combinations that worked. Clientele is a mix of locals, students, middle aged insiders and randoms that happen by, and no... More

Went there with friends & was so excited to try this place. There were four of us and we made clear we would be using our Newport Diner's club cards & needed 2 checks at the very beginning. The calamari was very tasty, flat iron ok with a wonderful root vegetable puree. The pad Thai was heavy on the tamarind.... More

We visited here in October 2014 on the recommendation of a friend. I had a fabulous salad, with a helping of their gorgeous fried spinach (yummy, not at all greasy). My dining companions both had fish and cleaned their plates. I was visiting Newport, and doubt that I will be back there again, but I did want to write a... More

We hosted an event in the upstairs loft and then enjoyed dinner downstairs with a group of friends. Unique, imaginative décor; comfortable and friendly surroundings. My husband enjoyed his usual pad thai and I ventured out with a tempeh, squash and chick pea curry dish. Folks at the table relished and shared a neat dessert that included little wonton purses... Made a res knowing we'd be coming in for rhw weekend and not wanting a line. The duck sausage app was yummy and then the salmon with the lemon jasmine rice superb. Didn't really like the flash fried spinach as it was too greasy for me. The pad thai was also tasty, but the rwc from my dining companion would... More

We had dinner here last evening and were very pleased with the menu, service and food. Seasonal menu sure to delight everyone. Fabulous salads (beet salad so delicious) and excellent chili. Saved us on our rainy visit to Newport.

A quirky menu, with a chili that's one of the best I've had. Our tablemates couldn't say enough about the food and service. All in all a fun night out especially the barn out back and the fire pit on the way into the dining room.
