Love the casual atmosphere with open kitchen , menu on a big black board and wonderful martinis. We devoured the Lobster fra diavlo for two. Did not have an app and no need . This huge dish is served in the pan it is cooked in and great till the last bite. Not fancy or too expensive. We will be... More

I have been a customer of scales & shells for over ten years. Needless to say its one of my favorite restaurants. If you enjoy consistent, unique, fresh, creative seafood then this is the restaurant for you. Why it is not ranked as Newport's top restaurant is a mystery to me.

We had a very good, albeit basic, seafood meal here. (I am NOT using basic as a perjorative--this place takes fresh seafood, throws a little aglio e olio on it, and serves it up--the best way). It was packed on Saturday night and we had to wait 40 minutes, which wasn't fun, but it was worth the wait. No fuss... More

My husband and I went in on vacation because we were in the mood for seafood. This place didnt disapoint. Their muscle corn chowder is worth trying! Yum!

We went on Sunday night for dinner. Atmosphere is busy but pleasant. We got order of calamari. It was good but not great. Large side dish of sauce but no peppers. I had mahi-mahi. It was fresh. Grilled okay. My partner had salmon. That also was okay, but I can't say that it was anything special. We each had glass... More

Flavorless skate swimming in a flavorless lemon caper sauce! Avoid this overpriced place! Dark chocolate gelato had no chocolate flavor either! WTH?!

Lucked out with wait time for a party of 3 on a Saturday night in the summer. Food was delish - seafood was very fresh. The calamari appetizer just melts in your mouth! Service was good. Ambiance was a little noisy as to be expected at peak hours, but we had a good time.

We arrived on a Friday night and was going to stay for dinner before we realized that it was an all seafood restaurant. There is nothing wrong with that concept but we were in the mood for turf not surf. We decided to stay and have a drink and they were ok. The menu was a giant chalkboard which again... More

As opposed to many who had waiting issues, we got right in on a Sat. night, but we did go before 6. By far the highlight of our meal, was the tuna roll appetizer, which was rare tuna in a egg roll type of wrapper. My husband had the red linguine with calamari and loved it. My daughter had rare... Great seafood and good service, though a tad noisy. If they would upgrade their bread I might go to 5 stars. Get there early to avoid the crowds.
