Excellent food in a highly energenic environment!

Our meal was excellent. The blackboard menu offered a wide variety of seafood and fish options. Be prepared, however, for a very high volume level. The place is loud! Also, our waitperson was very pleasant, but appeared to be significantly overworked with responsibility for too many tables... read more

My favorite dish in all the world is the Linguine al Vongole from Scales and Shells. With an open kitchen that overlooks the dining area and bar, I watch but can never duplicate (myself) the excellence of this food. They don't even open for lunch as they have all the fresh seafood to prepare from 1 or 2 oclock till... More

From the outside this place looks really nice and a little more up market. Big open kitchen inside and oyster bar, great smells and like the lay out. Unfortunately I found he menu a little lacking and it is very noisy inside, was like eating in a market. Service was great, wine selection good, but nothing particularly exciting about the... More

Busy, bustling place - fun and casual but with great food and service. We sat at the bar - had some oysters and went with the bartender's recommendations which were very helpful. I had the vongole neopolitan, husband had the tuna. Both were very good. Best was the atmosphere, loved the open kitchen as well.

Simply great seafood, no booking, just turn up and look at what others are eating, listen to the specials and have a great meal. We had a great time, fresh fish, fine wine and refreshing staff.

I ordered a pasta dish that was very oily and the garlic was not cooked. Her friend ordered Tuna which was way over-cooked (super well done), they replaced it with a shrimp dish that had no flavor. None of us were happy with our dinners. The service was great, the ambiance is nice, although it can be a bit loud.

Scales & Shells seems it is really trying to be an upscale, trendy, expensive restaurant, and the fact that they are trying but really haven't made it yet shows. When we arrived, there were very few diners; why our service was slow (tho accurate) is a mystery. Prices are rather dear for what you get, compared to, for example, the... More

Seafood heaven! You will drop some coin for a meal but food is really awesome. Out waitress was also very nice. Get there early or prepare to wait.

I thought this restaurant was amazing. Granted there were two of us so we have only tried two things on the menu, they were both incredible. I had the Mako Shark dish with vegetable kabobs which was amazing. Then my boyfriend had the linguine and clams... now this is one of his favorite dishes ever. He gets it anywhere that... More
