Visited again on our trip to RI. The food is absolutely delicious. Last vist we had lasagna, spaghetti with meatballs in huge portions and the kids had smaller sized past dishes. All very fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is very quaint and welcoming, right in the heart of Newport. It would have been perfect had the service been better. Our... More

The food in this restaurant is excellent. I have eaten here many times over the years. However, the increasingly condescending and rude attitude of the male reservationist is uncalled for. Whenever I make a reservation he says that my husband I will have to vacate the table fairly quickly because he has another reservation coming in. Basically eat quickly and... More

Unassuming from the outside, seemingly tiny on the inside but worth trying on every level! My daughter and I dined on a Thursday night without a reservation. We were shown to a table upstairs and felt very welcome. Quick service, great specials and a very comfortable dining experience. The mixed salad was simple but very fresh and had an outstanding... Flavorful, bountiful, colorful - we especially enjoyed this traditional menu. They offer the option of smaller sized pasta dishes for $3.50 less, leaving enough of an appetite room for their great desserts. Atmosphere in this old house is cozy, with service that was very attentive, more on the casual end of the spectrum than professional. We'd definitely return.

Six of us dined at Mamma Luisa's in May. The place is small, but we had a reservation. We enjoy round tables with a lot of people and they met that request. From the pasta to the fish and veal, everyone enjoyed everything, and even dessert was outrageous. Everyone was so nice, we will definitely go back. Thanks.

I live in Newport and visit Mama Luisa's a few times each year. The quality of food is so consistantly excellent that my wife and I always dine there on our anniversary and each Valentine's Day. Try the mashed fava beans on bruschette. My favorite entree is the Picatine Di Vitello ( Veal Scalloppine with artichokes, lemon, and capers) which... More

Nice italian food. I love it when I find an italian restaurant with gnocchi and they were delicious. We had a very nice and polite service. Nice wine too. They do not have a kid's menu but kids who want to eat something else than kid's menu everywhere can choose in the menu and they do a smaller portion. I... More

The butternut squash is wonderfully cooked and the flavor perfect. The bolonese was good and the gnocchi was excellent. There is also a very decent wine menu for pairings. I recommend the salad with the insalata esotica for a nice beginning. The bread, although warm, was relatively plain. Overall, worth it for the variety of well flavored and cooked pasta... More

The six of us dined here last week. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to take us right away. Without going into individual dishes, as some had the specials, we all had lovely meals. My husband especially enjoyed his veal chop. The profiteroles were perfect as they were filled with cream and not ice cream! We found... More

I always say that a quality restaurant contains two parts: great food, and great service. In the case of Mamma Luisa, it had the first component, but not the second. I came here with my party of 9 for dinner on a Friday night, Fourth of July to be exact. After scouring hundreds of reviews on trip advisor, we decided... More
