We booked a table online, supplied credit card details and received a confirmation email. We turned up at the appointed time (having walked for an hour in torrential rain) and, on announcing ourselves, were told in an extremely rude manner by the proprietor that we had not supplied our card details and that our reservation was cancelled (copy of my... We got to this restaurant at 7:00 p.m. without having a reservation. They were completely booked but they were so nice and accomodating. They found us a table but advised that we had to done by 8:30 p.m. That was plenty of time to enjoy this delicious and fresh Italian dinner. We ordered two salads, two main courses, two cappuccinos... More

Really enjoyed dinner in this quaint restaurant out of the way on Thames Street. First time here. Outstanding Italian food . Great sauces. Very good wine selection. Superb service. Highly recommend.

my wife and i came here for our anniversary dinner after it was recommended to us by some friends. It was cozy, and offered 2 floors of dining with many separate rooms, as it is a converted house. Our waitress was new to the place, but it seemed as if she was new to the food industry/hospitality business. So the... More

We walked by, very hungry and were impressed by all of the accolades they displayed. When we told them we didn't have a reservation they look perplexed as to what to do...we probably should have left right then. We waited 20 minutes for someone to come over. We as we were ordering the table next to us sat down. We... More

Seriously one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever eaten at. The interior is so charming, the wait staff very attentive, but the food was amazing. I didn't think you could get Italian this good off of the Hill in Providence. Can't wait to go back.

We were entertaining friends from New York. They've been to Newport before, and we all wanted to avoid the frenetic food/bar scene on the waterfront. Mama Luisa's seemed far enough down Thames Street to be away from the maddening crowd. A little Trip Adviser research suggested we would not be disappointed -- and we weren't. This is a not-so-small restaurant... More

During our three week vacation in the US, we were looking for a more European style of food and found it here. Great pasta, attentive (and not too pushy) staff and even the espresso was just right. Can really recommend this place!

I made dinner reservations at this restaurant less based on the reviews on Tripadvisor. I had only lived in Newport 8 days when I visited the restaurant. I plan to go again. I wanted a non-seafood restaurant with vegetarian options for out of town guests. It was an excellent choice; we were all very happy with our meals. The waitress... More

We fancied an Italian meal for a change and went to Mamma Luisa on a Friday night. We had no reservation but after only 25 minutes in a nice waiting room we were seated at a lovely table. The atmosphere is cosy, intimate, relaxing and very romantic. The service was friendly and very efficient. The food and wine menus were... More
