Had a wonderful dinner here for our first experience at the restaurant. The reviews were so good we had to try it out and weren't disappointed. Very friendly service, comfortable environment in an older house, and the food was great. Liked that you could get a smaller portion of all entrees for $3.50 less so you could get an app... More

Had a lovely dinner here, in one of the dining rooms upstairs, which only had 4 tables. Loved that we were dining in an actual house. Very charming. We started with the Insalata Esotica, which was wonderful. I had the Garganelle Bresciola, which was delicious, and hubby had the Cotoletta di Pollo, which he enjoyed also. Nice wine list, great... Words won't do this restaurant justice. From the moment I walked in the door I felt as though I was back in Italy. Visit and let the food do the talking!

We have dined at Mamma Luisa's several times on trips to Newport, most recently this past weekend. As usual, the food and service were superb. First, the restaurant is very charming, located in an old home on Thames Street, divided into four quaint dining rooms all decorated with authentic items from Italy. It was very cozy in there this rainy... More

We were in Newport this past weekend. The highlight of this very rainy weekend was our dinner at Mamma Luisa's. I loved everything about it. The quaint, well decorated restaurant which is a house with 4 small rooms was charming. It reminded me of the little places in the North end of Boston. Our waiter, Pete was very attentive…but the... This Italian restaurant has authentic Italian food and it is delicious! It's a quaint restaurant with not only excellent food, but with excellent service as well. The pasta is homemade, the bread is fresh with a delicious crispy crust. A truly enjoyed meal, from start to finish.

The service and attention to detail was remarkable and stood out in a town that I consider to have great service in all areas. We sat on the second floor of this home turned into restaurant and enjoyed the character the house had to offer. The server had an attention to detail that made the experience one would expect in... This is the only genuine Italian food in Newport, in our opinion, and we live here. Service is impeccable and the menu is perfect. Favorite appetizer is the Zuppa de mare - mussels and mediterranean clams in a wonderful soup. You can't pick a favorite pasta as they are all outstanding. The veal scallopini, veal chop and sole are favorites... More

The restaurant is like going to your favorite Italian friend's house. Full of homey items, warmth of greetings and highly attentive people who just want you to eat and enjoy. The food was delicious with layering of flavors that just popped in your mouth that left you satisfied but wanting more. The staff was highly attentive without being intrusive. They... More

My wife and I went to Mamma Luisa on our honeymoon as a result of its good rating on Tripadvisor and Yelp. First, it should be noted that the restaurant is quite a walk on Thames away from the main part of the street. That said, this can be both nice, but can also make for a tiring walk if... More
