Fantastic food, quaint setting

This is an excellent Italian restaurant with an authentic feel. Staff was extraordinarily friendly. Great selection of pastas. I had pasta in an oil base, apparently the waiter's favorite selection. It was delicious, favors were subtle but good. It is in an 1870s era house so it has a more... read more

We did not have a reservation, but the staff was tremendously accommodating and found us a spot (2 people). Maybe a 10 minute wait. Food was _fantastic_ - some of the best Italian we've had in a while. Despite being very busy, we were not rushed and allowed to linger and enjoy the night. Happened to sit next to a... More

I have to say that once again the reviewers here didn't let me down. My husband and I had quiet and romantic dinner with wonderful food. We shared the salad esotica and it was artfully presented to us on two plates. Utterly delicious. Endive with figs, walnuts and grapes in light but flavorful vinegrette. My husband had the veal chop... More

Excellent meal! And since we lived in milan for the past 5 years, we are picky! My husband and I both had tagliatelle al bolognese. It was totally authentic. The bread nice and warm with garlic oil on the table like in Italy. Most Italian restaurants keep a bottle on the table cause they pour a little on almost everything.... More

It was a frigidly old February night, but we were wamed by this pleasant Italian neighborood restaurant. The food was nice especially the mushroom brochetta and the pasta dishes. The wait staff was very friendly.

Simply amazing. Ate here on Valentines Day and it was just as romantic as it was delicious. Simple food, exceptionally prepared, just couldn't have enjoyed dinner here more. Shout out to Sophie for taking such good care of us.

We live in Newport and Mamma Luisa's is a favorite destination for us. We especially love it in the winter because of it's warm and cozy atmosphere. There is no better location for those nights you are craving a wonderful pasta dinner and a glass of red wine. The staff is always knowledgeable and professional and the food is ALWAYS... More

Went to Mamma Luisa on a really cold night with the family. Food and the setting were perfect, nice, warm and cozy. Everyone was so welcoming and the food was out of this world. Felt like we were eating at someone's home for Sunday Italian Dinner. Everything was made fresh. We had the Tagliatelle Bolognese, the Pork Tenderloin and the... More

It was a cold snowy Sunday evening in Newport with already deep piles of snow bordering the streets and sidewalks. I found myself in the city on business. The hotel restaurant looked attractive but it was too expensive for my budget. So consulting with my fellow Trip Advisors, With an important meeting the following day, I couldn't risk seafood-borne illness... More

Coming from a nyc living , i have high expectations for a fine dining Italian restaurant. This place was cozy and the food was good. The head waiter seemed to be on top of his game , however our waiter was a bit nervous and his service was mediocre. If food wasn't so good I woulda gave 2 stars ...... More
