Still very good after all these years....

We had lunch at the Mooring in our recent trip to Newport. My wife had grilled Ahi tuna sandwich and I ordered Caprese sandwich, containing tomatoes, mozzarella, prosciutto, basil pesto, arugula, and French bread. Both sandwiches were quite filling and delicious. Our server provided a good explanation of the menu and was very attentive; we had a good service. The... More

Sat facing the water, an excellent view. Very nice waiter. Great clam rolls (doughnuts in a bag). The lobster roll and fish and chips were tasty.

My friends and I recently dined at the Mooring. We started with oysters, and the scallop chowder, which none of us had tried before. The oysters were great, and what a selection. The scallop chowder was a real treat, much different than clam chowder, and so tasty. We all throughly enjoyed the pasta. Buttery, garlic, with a little kick. So... More

The Mooring was exactly what I had hoped a seafood restaurant in Newport would be! The staff was young energetic and tried really hard to please. we started with the chowder which was amazing, really one of the best I have ever had. Our entree was shellfish tower which we shared with an additional lobster. The oysters were outstanding, as well... More

A superb location looking out over Sayers Wharf provides a Newport backdrop with boats in the scene. Well designed two level interior with stained wood, booths, tables, seated bar and two dining rooms complete the scene. Uniformed wait staff extremely competent in table tending and the management staff in ties set the tone for professionalism. Food and beverage are good... More

Just got back from a girl's weekend to Newport, RI and we made a reservation because of us researching that this restaurant was one of the best. I didn't find that to be the case. We were seated on the back deck and it was lovely. We had a very attentive waitress but she was having a crazy night. We... More

I was really expecting FRESH seafood. I had the mussels for starter and they were awesome. I followed it up with seafood pasta and it was only so-so. The seafood was overcooked and a bit rubbery. Service was great!

Always a great meal at the Mooring and you can't beat the view from the deck. The "Bag of Donuts" are delicious, little puffs of heaven. Lobster salad served on a croissant is the best in Newport. Generous fish and chips platter was perfectly prepared and the fish wasn't lost in batter. No better place to watch the sunset, sip... More
