Our experience at The Mooring was both good and bad, but make no mistake, the food is amazing and the chowder was the best we had during our first trip to Newport! We had reservations for 7pm - two adults and a baby. We arrived at 6:40-6:45, and I told the hostess that we had reservations for 7pm and asked... More

We had heard a lot about this place as its pretty well known in Newport. We went for dinner on a Saturday. I called 6 days prior and could only get 5:45 or 8:45 so they clearly aren't slow! The service was wonderful as it was in most places in Newport. That said, the food was a let down. I... More

We were a party of four adults and three children. Clam chowder is a must to have. Service and ambiance was great, we sat outside. Try the coffee, it is pressed and so delicious even if your too full for a dessert. Will definitely go back to the Mooring again.

This is an incredible restaurant located right on the waterfront with ever changing views of the harbor. Try the Chowder and Lobster... both taste about as fresh as you can get in New England. They also have a bag of fried clams as an appetizer that could almost be a meal. All great food and service was excellent.

The staff was polite and welcoming! Beautiful scenic view and that's what you pay for. The food had no flavor. I don't recommended.

Dinner was lovely. Delicious oysters and shrimp from the raw bar followed by a shared Beet Salad Sole Francais and Yellowfin Tuna for entrees. Split an order of brussel sprouts as well. Perfectly prepared and well timed. Nice wine selection. Great ambiance - the bar is fun and the water views from the dining room are spectacular.

Had a Sunday lunch here and the food was underwhelming but OK. The reason to come here though is for the atmosphere and the views. The service was fine and if you need a place to take a group in Newport, this place will do. Xenon bottom line; Yeah, I guess I'd go back.

Went here during the restaurant week in Newport. I got a pork tenderloin. It was cooked perfectly, served over mashed potatoes, and had some well-seasoned kale on the top. Very happy with the meal. My girlfriend got the flat iron steak. She enjoyed it just as much as I enjoyed my pork. Would go back there to eat again. Prices... More

Enjoyed lunch here during restaurant week which may or may not be a good way to review it. Very inviting environment and many tables had a view of the water. Service was very good, food was fresh (oysters delicious) and they had a nice variety even though we all opted for a four-course, fixed price meal with choices. Has a... More
