My husband and I travelled to Newport with dear friends for a week-end get away. Not realizing it was Newport's Daffodil Festival week-end, we were surprised by the amount of people who were in town. Not having made dinner reservations in advance, we were pleased to get a reservation at The Mooring (which had received very good reviews from TripAdvisor).... More

I bring my Mom here whenever I visit as this is her favorite restaurant. I find the service to be first rate, very professional. The food is always excellent. Even when they are filled to capacity, they maintain their standards.

We visited this restaurant for my 50th birthday. The staff, very professional and friendly! The location excellent! The seafood was fresh and delicious. It was so good that we came back the next day. A little pricey for dinner, but worth it. Reasonable for lunch and more casual.

The first evening we went we just ordered the cheese plate, ahi tuna appetizer, and a side of brussel sprouts. The 4 cheeses were delicious along with candied walnuts, dried fruit and honey with crackers and crostini. The tuna was a tad under seasoned but overall was a wonderfully sized appetizer. The brussel sprouts were huge but undercooked with a... More

We had a great lunch at table 91 to celebrate with friends on a terrific Spring day. Our server Matthew L was fantastic and always available for any requests. He has a great personality for his position as he made us feel welcomed and informed about all the great menu choices! All of our food was exceptional especially the painkiller... More

This was my first time at this restaurant and I'm so glad I went here. The clam chowder was delightful. I had the tuna tartare ap and was very pleasantly surprised. My friend had the crabcake ap which he said was the best he'd ever had. The service was good, the views of the water were also good and parking... More

For our last night in Newport, we decided to visit the Mooring on the recommendation of our hotel. We were not disappointed. The restaurant has a great atmosphere for families and couples. Get a table by the window for great views of the water.

So when you go to Newport, RI, you expect a good seafood dinner. The Mooring is the place to go if you want excellent seafood. I have not had a seafood dinner at a restaurant that I enjoyed as much as I did at the Mooring in many, many years. We ordered, raw oysters, crab cakes, calamari, and clam chowder... More
