Noisy but yummy

Very casual, the food was very good. I must say the place is a bit noisy - so if you want quiet romantic, this is not the place for you. We've been there twice. Food very good. This last time we waited for quite a while for our food, but we were not disappointed with the quality of the meal.

The chef here is unbelievable with sauces to die for. You ask if the seafood is fresh? I once saw the fisherman carry a 50lb bass from the boat to the kitchen. As if the freshness was not enough, the sauce (which I cannot adequately describe with words) was heavenly. Most importantly, they are consistently great regardless if it's a... More

We ate lunch on the outdoor deck. They have several more upscale restaurant that are indoors. The deck served one of the best hamburgers I have had in the past year. The disappointment was the the crab soup. The Black Pearl is noted for its crab soup so the three people in our party ordered it and I observed that... More

Let it first be known that my fiance and I sat in the outdoor patio, that has a limited food menu. Although the menu was limited, that does not mean the food has to be sub-par. We got a salad (which was brought with the wrong dressing) and a chicken sandwich. The chicken was overcooked and rubbery. The way the... More

Love the location and atmosphere, clam chowder 2nd to none. Tried 2 other area chowders and don't know why I bothered.

First time here was in 1970 when they had a Pot Belly Stove for heat. It has come a very long way since then! They feature a clam chowder that is among the BEST anywhere. Their bowl of Mussels is excellent. Service is great. Still amazing after all these years.

People rave about the clam chowder,I thought it was good, but not outstanding. After we ordered, I noticed a chalk board at far end of room, partially blocked by people sitting in front of it. I asked our waitress if those were the specials, her reply was yes,but I can hardly read it. Would have been nice to be told specials or... More

We stopped in for a quick lunch and were quite disappointed. I order the clams casino, which turned out to be 6 small clams with mostly breading for $13. Woof. My wife had the clam chowder ($6), which was good, but we have had others that tasted just as good for less. She also had a salad that was absolutely... More

This historic restaurant should not be missed when visiting Newport. The chowder is the BEST ever and the Dark and Stormys do not disappoint. We usually choose dining inside, but for those into outside dining, an area exists for your choice.

This is a high end expensive restaurant. Not for young children. Service is exceptional with the food tasting even better. The clam chowder is sold in all the Mansion shops, and now I know why. It was one of the best I have had. Rack of lamb was superb. My Scallop,Shrimp and Lobster in a pastry shell was rich and... More
