Tasty, creamy, perfect consistency..Loved the outdoor patio . We had lunch here twice. I had the sauteed Narragansett Bay Scallops and they were so delicious, tender and delicate. Also returned another evening for dinner and had great lobster tails. Will return to this restaurant when in Newport.

My husband and I arrived in Newport well after lunch but decided to wander around town in search of a quick bite to eat before dinner. I was lured into the Black Pearl by a promise of kale salad which is one of my all time favorites. The kale salad that I enjoyed was lovely and a perfect late lunch.... More

We selected the Black Pearl for our final dinner of a five day visit. The food was superb, the service was helpful and attentive (pretty formal...). It was the most expensive of all the places we ate (entrees are $30 to $50, most in the upper range). I had a wonderful grilled swordfish and my wife had an excellent filet.... More

The best location in Newport, directly on the touristic port. Pleasant for music, people around and outside tables. But you you look for unforgettable dinner for the food side this is not the right location. Nothing exceptional in the menu, service fresh and young but not expert. food quality is good but nothing that you cannot find elsewhere.

Newport experience is not complete until you have the Clam Chowder soup at the Black Pearl. They will provide it with crackers - but ask for bread - you will never have a better Chowder anywhere!

My wife and I stopped for lunch at the Black Pearl before attending the Newport Boat Show. I've been stopping at the BP since the mid-70's. I'm not very adventurous with the menu. I know I will always get the clam chowder, the best I've ever had. I has a wonderful cream base (not thickened as too often is the... More

We had the chowder and it was great--would recommend! You can also sit outside or in. Definately would recommend!

After asking around about where to go for the best clam chowder we landed at the Black Pearl. I normally like a thick chowder so at first when I saw the liquid consistency I thought I would be disappointed but after trying the chowder, it is the best chowder I have ever tasted. We ate here 3 times in 2... More

I always loved this place. They have added an outdoor seating area. The restaurant is overpriced. The bowl of chowder is 11.00 and I think that is a bit much but it is delicious. Servers kind of snooty. We don't split checks but will do this time......please....with computers is so easy. Would not get anything else here....too pricey
