One of my favorites in Newport!

Eat in the pub, not the Captain's room. Best Clam Chowder anywhere. Good wine list. Make a reservation.

This offers the best claim chowder I have ever had and I have had a lot of chowder. We spent most afternoons for drinks and the chowder, we had dinner in the main dining room one night and it was a great meal

This place was not good at all. The dining room was historic and cool but that's the only high point. The clam chowder was watery and tasteless. My BLT and fries were bad, I ate a few bites and threw the rest away. Avoid this place its mediocre. So many better places in Newport.

Had lunch here on Friday; staff is not receptive, very eager to rush you out. Food is average, chowder is worse than from a can, this place has seen its better days. Our last visit left us with no desire to ever come back.

The Black Pearl is a consistently good restaurant. The service is great and the prices are right (then again, we live in Manhattan so most places seem inexpensive by comparison). On this trip, we had: New England Clam Chowder - delicious and not too thick Mussels - delicious, they use the same base for their clam chowder Filet Mignon with... More

This is a must stop for a bowl of chowder and a beer. We heard from all the locals that this is the best chowder on the East Coast. Well, we are just happy we listened because after all our travels as seafood foodies, it was! Yummmmmm. Can't stress it's lusciousness more!

The black pearl has the best New England clam chowder around! All of the food is delicious and eating on the patio waterside is cool too! Love Newport!

My wife, toddler daughter and I stopped by the Black Pearl for lunch on a fairly busy Sunday. Started with clam chowder that was pretty good although not the greatest. My wife had lightly breaded bay scallops while I had a reuben sandwich. Both were pretty well made and tasted great. About the only minus was that they lacked high... More

We had breakfast at the Black Pearl on Sunday. It was fun, energetic and the food was good. We enjoyed the casual experience by the water.

The musssels and the broth they were in were excellent! The clam chowder just okay. The staff was friendly.
