Had eaten in this restaurant 3 years ago and loved it. I was told recently it was no longer up to standards. Wrong!!!! Ate on the inside casual side and my food and service was way up there. There were 3 of us, each ordering something different. You MUST try their Shepards Pie. Best I have ever had.

I was in Newport for the weekend and we went to the Black Pearl. It was very busy but we were able to get a table inside within 10 minutes. Not bad for a place that was bursting of people. The food was excelllent and they had several specials. I had the Halibut special and it was very good. The... More

It was not the best I've ever had but it fit the bill. Service was good. A little overpriced. Great location.

We went on a busy summer Thursday, 8.30 reservations. With reservations, you can get into the back room (quieter). Good drinks (not cheap: Tanqueray rocks = $9) The food is good but inconsistent. Order the New England clam chowder: rich, tasty, full of clams. It is *always* good. On our four entrees, the striped bass and the Nantucket scallops were... More

If you are into expensive bad food on crowded restaurants this is the place to go! We waited about 1 hr, the food came 40+ mins late and it was dissapointing... What a way to spoil our Newport visit. Dont go!

We often stop for an outside lunch. Beautiful view of the harbor and sailing vessels. Worth the wait depending on the time of day due to the location. The area is usually hot and sunny so bring your hat if you can't get a table with an umbrella or shade. The lobster rolls are great served on a croissant.I often get their... After reading all the reviews of this establishment and its NE clam chowder, I could not wait to get there on my recent visit to Newport. We went at about 2:30PM. The service started out with a bang and not a good one. My wife and I were seated by a young lady promptly (hostess?). When we went to sit... More

A visit to Newport is not compete until you have a bowl of chowder at The Black Pearl. The best there is in Newport. The Pearl Burger is to also die for. There's an art to eating it with the Syian bread though as it tends to fall apart about mid burger. But ridiculously delicious nonetheless. Be prepared for a... More

When checking into our timeshare resort, Wyndham Long Wharf, we asked at the desk to recommend the best restaurant for dinner, as it was my birthday. It did not disappoint! The food was delicious & service very good. My resort ordered a special birthday dessert for me, as well, very yummy!

Outdoor seating was a plus. The food was ok. The staff was overmatched. Waited quite a while for a drink. Location is great.
