Was expecting a more elegant restaurant from the descriptions I read and was very disappointed. It is an ordinary restaurant with ordinary food that is overpriced. Would not recommend

This is a very expensive restaurant with a very limited menu. Service is good but understand why the crowds. You always need reservations. I don't think it was worth it.

Institution among restaurants in Newport. Very simple but elegant combined with very good food and excellent service. I am referring to the formal dining room called Commodore Room, not the pub side. For two and half decades our place to celebrate New Year and other special occasions. Little pricey but worth it since the food will not disappoint you. Chef... More

The clam chowder was hands down the best we have ever eaten, anywhere. It was smooth, full of flavor, tender clams and not a bit of grit! The rest of the food was pretty average, but was hot, plentiful and filled our bellies on a dreary day. We ate in the tavern and were seated in a tight little corner,... More

We popped in in mid-December, out of the cold to a warm and bustling, but cozy atmosphere for lunch. It was packed but tables turned over quickly. Chowder was fantastic. Most sandwiches were great; lobster roll was a little shy on lobster but was good. Service pretty good (she was busy). Very fun place!

Went for dinner with my sisters. Food was great and the ambience is wonderful. We ate on the Pub side and really enjoyed ourselves. Best mussels I have ever had!

My husband and i eat here every time we take a road trip through New England. The food is amazing, the staff is excellent and the atmosphere is just breath taking. It is a ship on the water attached to the waterfront, filled with shops, snacks, festivals and boat rentals. Depending when you go, there could be a wait. It... More

Go here for the clam chowder and to sit outside in the summer. Otherwise, the food is not memorable. The mid-wharf location is a plus as is the people watching.

Had a great bowl of Gumbo here and my first taste of soft shell crab didn't disappoint. Was a busy night so had to eat at the bar. Good food and service made up for it though.

It is off season. Expectations are high because we have heard a lot about the Black Pearl from many people over the years. Yet, it was so disappointing, my adult daughter and I wound up only ordering an appetizer and a drink each (for a total of $50.00) and left. We had a difficult time finding anything on the menu...
