Feels like you're in a boat!

Obviously an exclusive dining place but when we called for reservations we could not get one for our party of 10. Our Concierge called and got one however! Dining room is a bit dark but the food and wine were great. Enjoyable time for all.

A long established favorite on the wharf. Good seafood and reasonable prices. Always reliable stop over for a great bowl of clam chowda and a great Bloody Mary.

No matter where else I'm going, I must have clam chowder at Black Pearl. - the best! Noisey and crowded and a fun place to grab a bite.

Quintessential New England waterfront! Cool restaurant with great history ... Have enjoyed many meals over the years but the chowdah keeps me going back!

The Black Pearl is a rare gem. I have always felt as if I were below decks on a sailing ship. The close quarters have never detracted from the exceptional service or food. Masterfully prepared seafood, a prix fixe option. Vibrant one of our favorites.

We have been going to the Black Pearl since we started dating almost 40 years ago, and we never grow tired of it. The seafood is outstanding and it is no wonder why the chowder continues to win awards. The dishes are served with little ostentation but clear elegance, and the sailing ship decor of the restaurant takes you back... More

The Black Pearl has a great location in the middle of Bannister's Wharf and a nice cozy, comfortable feel though it was quite busy when we 1st arrived.Great nautical feel and we were seated a few tables away from their attractive bar. There is another room of the restaurant to the right of the bar that is connected by a short... More

Came in for dinner and it was not busy that night but it made for a relaxing, romantic dinner. The place was warm and lit with candles adding to the atmosphere. Our server was friendly and accommodating. We ate the mushroom salad special, chowder and a scallop dinner (roasted not fried) and all were delicious!! Shared a bottle of wine... More

We arrived around 7:30pm and were placed immediately at an interior table - the seating area is small but efficiently planned out. If you need lots of elbow room and do not wish to be in close proximity to others find somewhere else BUT you will miss out on some delicious seafood and rolls. I can't even believe I am... More

Historic and delicious are the two reasons to make the Black Pearl a "must" when in Newport! We always get the chowder....both to dine in and for take out. It's creamy, flavorful and loaded with clams. It is the standard from which we judge all other chowdah's across these great United States. Other fare is also delicious and perfectly prepared...
