Clam Chowder is worth the visit

The clam chowder is worth the trip alone to the Black Pearl. It is simply awesome! All of our lunches were really good. I got the swordfish sandwich special, wife got the smoked salmon appetizer, son got the cheese, bacon, tomato melt, and daughter got a house salad. We all thoroughly enjoyed... read more

The Black Pearl is a classic for tourists and sailors, There you can have the best clam chowder I ever tried, among other local classics. The food is rich and tasty, and the service is great, also a great bar for a drink!

It's the shack beyond the restaurant on the right...BEST chowder in the area and it's a styrofoam cup and plastic spoon walking around and loving it kinda experience. Take napkins and extra spoon cause whoever you're with that doesn't get their own, will want YOURS.

Newport classic recreation at the Banister Wharf, one of the landmarks which is known among all RI visitors. Good quality and reliable cousine. Appropriate service. Even if it is a luxury restaurant but their cocktails non remarkable so get a beer there. You can find their canned signature soup which is advertised as the best in RI in every mansion... More

My wife and I sat at the outdoor bar/patio area for dinner and had a great server named Rachel. She was friendly, attentive, and good with the suggestions. We both had burgers and split the chili which was great. I also got an order of oysters which were some of the best I've had so far this year (and I... More

I adore this place I first visited in 1977 and the place basically looks the same and the chowder is still amazing people take it out by the buckets. The menu is lovely and the food and the service is also excellent.

the food is ok,the service not so much so. Kids who want to party and look at their watches to see when they get off does not make for a good server. The food is ok,but not what it once was. They are living on their past but they had better come to the future if they want one. Lots... More

Black Pearl is a Newport staple on Bannister's wharf. You can eat inside in the formal restaurant or outside on their fast food version patio. We had a lovely dinner inside the formal dining room with excellent service and a nice table by the window. Nice atmosphere. The seafood was very fresh and cooked to order. Excellent grilled swordfish and... More

The Black Pearl restaurant came recommended from various sources and we thought it was a good option to try. We arrived at the restaurant, where we had been told to "dress up" to find many people in very causal attire. The wait staff brought us to a terrible table at a banquette, even though there there were tables with chairs... More

After eating in so many water side restos you realise that after a while these restos serve up mostly ok food and use their location as their tourist magnet.Dont get me wrong...everything ordered was served fast and with a smile and the food was..well..ok. The chowder was very...very...patato friendly..and the burger on syrian bread( pita for all you reg folks)... More
