My husband and I wanted something other than seafood when we visited Newport, RI. This restaurant hit the mark. Mexican food with a delightful modern twist. I ordered the chicken tacos and my husband had the burrito. We found both dishes to be tasty and liked the fact that they added pineapple to the toppings!

Not what we were expecting - we misread/misinterpreted their posted menu! Our fault, not theirs. Their local spin on "Mexican" food wasn't as close to Tex-Mex as we'd have liked, but it was worth the stop. Chicken Quesadillas were good, and their chips and salsa were very good. OK, they were excellent. My chicken tacos were miles off from what... More

We were not looking for Mexican, but the guys at Mansion Rentals suggested Diego's and we gave it a shot. So glad they did! The nachos are amazing and the drink selection is unreal. Sitting at the bar and seeing the guys and girls make these creative drinks was so much fun. They seem to really enjoy their job. We... More

Two nights in a row my family and I tried to go to Diego's and had bad experiences both times. As someone who calls Diego's her "all time favorite restaurant in Newport" I am extremely upset that I have to write a negative review. Night 1: Because it was a birthday and we had a party of about 8 people... More

The positive reviews for this place are a bit of a head scratcher. My wife and I came away from our meal disappointed. We rate restaurants on four factors: 1) food, 2) service; 3) atmosphere; and 4) reasonableness of price relative to food, service, and atmosphere. Food - the food was nothing special. It wasn't bad, but it was far... More

My husband, who is a proud "Mexican food snob" is in love with this place - which basically says it all. It's got a cool, laid back vibe inside and the servers were great. We stopped in twice while on vacation in Newport for a quick bite. Guac was incredibly fresh, as was the salsa. We also tried the pork... More

Surprisingly, this ended up being the best meal we had during a four day stay in Newport. The food is fresh and well seasoned. We had the blood orange margaritas, the fresh guacamole and salas and the rangoons as an appetizer. I'm a vegetarian so I loved that I had the option of tofu in my quesadilla which was really... We shared several small plates and loved every bite (duck empanadas, pork spring rolls, mushroom/goat cheese quesadilla, tuna tostada)! The guacamole was fantastic too! When planning our trip, I had no idea we would end up eating Mexican food in Newport, RI but we did on a friend's recommendation and I'm glad we didn't pass up this gem! Diego's has... More
