The food in this pub/sports bar was decent and tasty, but nothing to get too excited about. Service was unfortunately very slow, and the waitress seemed somewhat annoyed at us when we asked if we could be served (after we had waited for quite some time). A nice place to go for a drink and perhaps a quick bite, but... More

I met up for drinks with friends here while visiting Newport -- only drinks, not food. The service was fast and friendly. It definitely seemed like a locals hangout - nice to find something less chi-chi in Newport. It did seem a little grubby, though.

Fun spot. Good food ( steak tips), large portions, multiple beer options. Darts, pool, ping pong if you are friendly staff! up to it. Flash backs from a trip to Ireland with all the Irish memorabilia .

This actually took place February 25, 2007, but there has only been two other pubs in the New England region that have done for me what this man has done. As a Gunners fan, I was looking for a place in RI to watch the Football League Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea. The match was at some time early... More

It was great to get out of the snobby overpriced tourist places and have a quiet dinner...bar fare,, with a curry gravy with pub fries delish...awesome number of beer choices, it was a nice hidden gem in the old town area...I highly recommend sneaking in to this locals pub

We stopped in here by chance looking for a reasonably priced meal in Newport. The beer selection was good. The food tasted good, not great. We got fish and chips and it just seemed so greasy. It was a good meal, but maybe that wasn't the dish to try. Service was okay, but not terribly interested in us.

My husband and I came down to the Fastnet Pub while on our trip to Newport. We walked in and really liked how the restaurant was open to the outside. The waitress was very friendly and suggested some local beers. My husband and I both got a beer that she suggested and we enjoyed them. My husband got the fish... More

My rugby team has recently started a tradition of going to the Fastnet Pub whenever we go to Newport, RI. This past weekend was our second trip into the Fastnet Pub and it was just as good as the first. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere. Nothing fancy, just a good time. Great place to bring a large group of... More

The Fastnet Pub in Newport is popular for its Traditional Irish Sessions on every Sunday evening. The musicians start assembling around 6PM and build to a peak (sometimes 10) by around 7PM. Great music and vocals - worth visiting for nice entertainment and a few beers. Very good draft beer selection. Also good service if you want some pub food... More
