This is by far the worst Mexican food I have had the displeasure of eating. The food came out very fast which tells me that it was pre cooked always a bad sign. Absolutely no passion everything was very bland. I had the enchiladas and taco special with refried beans and rice. The beans we're almost unidentifiable; like they were... More

If you like all of your Mexican food to look and taste the same then El Canelo is for you. The taco chips and salsa while far from being the best I've ever had we're the high point of the visit. And if you want queso don't bother. It resembles a bowl of yellow milk, bland and runny. When we... More

I recently moved from Florida where there are plenty of outstanding Mexican restaurants and I like El Canelo which is one of two I've found to be good but the other one burnt down last year so this is it! I recently drove over one hour for another Mexican restaurant and found this one to be about on par with... More

We were disappointed when they moved from Dingens but the location across from McKinley Mall is just as good. Same great food, same reasonable prices.Like another reviewer said, don't be put off by the strip mall location. Hey, it's good enough for Outback, Friendly's & Wild Wings!

I can't understand why anyone would say good things about this place. I heard good things so I was excited to go there -but man was I dissapointed. This was the worst tasting mexican I've ever had. I don't compare this to Taco Bell or other fast food chains because that is not real mexican anyway, but I would have... More

I lived in Texas long enough to know it when I see it -- this is the real thing. Great, salsa that's always a little different every time -- you can tell they make it fresh by hand. Tex/Mex dishes gringofied just a enough to meet people's expectations (what's with all the lettuce?) And attentive wait staff who don't mind... More

The closest thing to actual Mexican food in Buffalo. Not fancy but good, basic Mex. fare. If you're desperate for enchiladas with ranchero sauce or hot chili relleno, this might do the trick.

El Canelo is located right off the Odgen St. exit off the 190. In my opinion in regards to Mexican food, this restaurant is one of the hidden gems of Buffalo because this is as close to an authentic Mexican restaurant as you will find in Buffalo so far. The atmosphere is quite casual and laid-back and the serivce is... More

Not a bad little mexican Joint. Realistic Mexician for decent prices. Not perfect, but if you're looking for something more like 'real' mexican.. this is a place.
