The best in home-cooked German and American food. We also serve a great fish fry and other seafood, gluten-free, vegetarian choices and offer a kids menu. We have 5 Deutsch Biers on tap and several more in bottles as well as the usual Domestic and Canadian brews. We also offer 3 Wines from there and several others. Scharf's has a full liquor license. We bottle our home-made German House Salad Dressing. We offer catering for private parties and office parties. In-house parties are also welcome. Potato Pancakes are our claim to fame, hand-grated and mixed on site, using graters imported from the old country. Rouladen, Sauerbraten, and Schnitzels are on the menu, besides Roast Duck and Pork. On the American side, we have Roast Beef (on weck or dinner), Fried Chicken, Pork Chops and more. Our fish can be served breaded, battered or broiled. We also have Yellow Pike! Serving Buffalo since 1967. Coupons are available on our website. Patio open.

We have been wanting to try the "New" "Old Scharfs German Restaurant & Bar - new because they are now located on Clinton St in Buffalo, NY and old because Scharf's has been around for decades. The current location has a lot more parking and the restaurant is much larger. There is a nice display case inside the restaurant with... More

Probably the worst restaurant meal I've had in many years. My grilled pork chops did not have a grill mark on them...obviously fried in a pan. The garlic mashed potatoes were watery and had gravy on them so I couldn't eat them with a fork. Red cabbage had absolutely no taste. Salad bar was boring. I was with 6 other... More

If you don't know the restaurant has moved to Clinton near Harlem . The old Deer head ! Jerry has done a great job ! I've been twice already . Food was great first time . Not as great second time . Pork didn't have much flavor . But maybe just a off night . Great German food and great... More

I have heard about this as being one of Buffalo's only German Restaurants and even signed up as a Facebook friend a few years ago when they were in dire straights. I am sorry I ever heard of the place and probably will give newbies a bad 'taste' for German Food. First of all it is a DUMP. They moved... More

Went with a group all ordering different items. After we were seated with friends already there whom had been seated for at least 10 minutes still no waitress. Asked waitress placing bill at next table if someone could take our drink order.... she reluctantly took our order. Asked for separate bills and waitress said we were driving her crazy. Told... Nothing good about this trip at all...sorry we wasted our time & money. we entered the restaurant and were asked if we had reservations, which really weren't necessary, there were a few empty tables the people that did have reservations were at the bar. We were accommodated with a table in the bar area, which was ok, but crowded. It... More

4 of us walked out hungry after a $84 bill. The German sampler platter for 2 was barely suited for 1 person. The "Schnitzel" was so small, I would be ashamed as a restauranteur to call it a Schnitzel. Our anger over such a rip-off makes it hard to rate the food's taste. In Germany this offer would consist of... More

Arrived with reservations. Waited 10 minutes for someone to seat us. Waitress showed up 10 minutes later to take our drink order. My wife's Manhattan was very good albeit in a very small glass. Two sips and it was gone. At $4.95 a glass,I would expect a half way decent size Manhattan. Our schnitzels were very good except for the... More

I have been to German restaurants in other cities as well as locally. My experience at Scharfs was a big disappointment. The general restaurant environment was below average, the lights were too bright and the table arrangement was tight. Those things would have been overlooked to a degree but when the food arrived, I was disappointed. My schnizle was dry,... More
