so I get to cross a small item off my bucket list. Went to anchor bar to see what AUTHENTIC buffalo wings are about. The bar is friendly, fun, upbeat, crowded. the wings were delivered much faster than I expected considering it was standing room only. great fun, environment, etc... the story of the buffalo wings is better than the... Had a chance to stop in at the famous Anchor Bar, and was very excited to taste the wings that started the Buffalo Wing craze. Unfortunately, despite the hype, they were only average. I had hot wings, and my son had medium, and neither of them would rank as MILD wings anywhere else. Disappointing, and pricey. Also, and I'm assuming... More

We were quoted a 90 minute wait for a party of 7 on a Saturday at 5:30 PM (home game for the Bills so the place had lots of visiting Packer fans), but it ended up only being an hour. Yes - the place is popular. And we felt it was worth the wait. The wings were excellent, but again... More

Visiting Buffalo, NY for just one day, we thought we have to try the very original buffalo wings, so at least we can tick the box. Arrived at the restaurant at around 1:30 pm, the place was packed with people. We saw some tables were empty but we were told to wait for couple minutes to be seated, which was... More

I travel to Buffalo every month and have been for two years. I went to the Main St location on 09Dec14. I ordered a single order of mediums. They came out quick too! Within about 2 mins. And once I started eating them, I found out why. They were already cooked ahead of time and more than likely had been... More

Stopped in to Buffalo and decided to try the original buffalo wing. Amazing sauce. Also tried the potato skins, those were the largest I've ever seen. A must try.

This place makes great wings. Since they invented the buffalo wing it came as no surprise. Here is why: the wings are crispy on the outside. This is the most important thing in a chicken wing! The sauce is delicious. A big pile of celery and Blue Cheese. Ranch is for amateurs! The big surprise was the chicken wing soup!... More

The downtown Anchor Bar was the originator of famous hot Buffalo Wings back in the 1960's. The chicken wings today are wonderful. Order them as has hot as you like them and they will be deliciously served with celery and authentic Buffalo-style blue cheese dressing. There are now branch locations, including inside the Buffalo Airport.

Wings and atmosphere were fabulous. The other food was not as appetizing. It is obvious that they cater to those who are seeking out the home of the chicken wing but next time, we will be trying Duffy's...

I know, I know the Anchor Bar is the home of wings. Where it all started many years ago BUT! They lost the touch that made their wing famous and are living off their history. Better wings can be found at many bars around town or Duffs. This place is old, dirty, and with greasy wings sitting in sauce. Not... More
