The food was fast and average. Steady waiting lines - coasting on previous reputation. Fried eggs and french toast was greasy.

The booths, old cowboy and rancher photos, and menus hasn't changed much. I suggest the breakfast items, or pies.

Friendly and fast service. Good breakfast although a little pricy but you have to consider where you are. Only complaint was maybe the coffee. Tasted metallic and watered down. Locally owned and operated in a company town so was impressed. Nice a rustic,

Nothing fancy here. Service was a little slow but not horrible. Had a burger. Pretty thin burger and the bun was just a plain old simple bun but was toasted. Fries were good as was the coleslaw. Left some on the plate as I wanted to try the sour cream raisin pie. That was good but they could have left... More

After suffering at the Little Missouri, it was a pleasure to have well cooked food for a reasonable cost. One complaint is the cutlery. The forks were all bent. It happens in the dishwasher. They need to be replaced.

Really great food--home cooked. Enjoyed the western atmosphere. Good service and great location off the beaten path.

Daily specials were bad - my bison burger was a thin patty and a slice of white onion. Service was good and the atmosphere was unique but you don't go to a restaurant for those two things only. Try anywhere else.

If you are expecting fine dining and lots of atmosphere you won't find it here. The decor consists of lots of photos of area ranchers and the furnishings are made of pine (possibly by high school shop dropouts) and decorated with livestock brands. The waitress station is overly visible and unorganized. The seating is at a premium at times and... More

We ended up camping in Medora to visit the Roosevelt National Park after a long drive and were too tired to cook. We looked on Tripadvisor to find a place for a good dinner and decided to follow the recs and go to the Cowboy Cafe. No, there is no atmosphere, which was fine. But there wasn't even a home... More

The food was okay, the soup was actually very good, but the place is so run down looking that it was hard to notice. Medora really needs some casual places for lighter fare so if they could upgrade the place it could be a great choice in a town that doesn't have many choices.
