Emma Chase is ok. Small town atmosphere. Good home cooking. Ice water in plastic rubbermaid pitcher on each table with styrofoam cups. Sodas served in cans. Friendly staff. Good cherry pie. Definitely a good value.

The Emma Chase is only open limited hours in the winter, and it's a wee bit pricey (~$8 for a burger), but you get good value. The burger was huge, the one-trip salad bar not as dicey as I expected, really quite good. Wish I'd had the sweet potato fries, though -- they looked awesome! The menu says you can... More

The options for breakfast in Cottonwood Falls are limited, but after reading the reviews of Emma Chase we thought we in for delicoius home-cooked meal. We couldn't have been more wrong. The French toast was dry and had been dipped in egg for about a second. The (maple) syrup served at the table was in a Walmart syrup bottle, with... More

The cafe on the main street of Cottonwood Falls is just a small local place with lots of down-home character. My wife and I had the chicken fried steak for dinner and it was outstanding. It came with a batch of mashed potatos and gravy and some delicious green beans. We shared some of the homemade apple pie and it... More

Stopped here for lunch. Food was adequate. Service was good. Pies were not as good as they were recommended. A little pricey for what one received.. Wouldn't recommend stopping there.

Just a fun place - nice people and a good breakfast. Liked the atmosphere. Disliked nothing but the coffee could have been a bit stronger. At least they served eggs which is something the Grand Central Hotel does not do.

This is a cafe, not a fresh-food restaurant, so set your expectations accordingly. Still, the food is very good and the locals are extremely friendly. The prices are good too. Breakfast made-to-order for $10 including tip is hard to find these days, and the lunch menu is great. Try the sweet potato fries. The chicken fried steak is even very... More

For the reputation it has we found the food to be average for a small town cafe. They do bring music to town well worth hearing and it's well worth going to if there is a music event.

No menu, just tell them what you want for breakfast. Farm fresh eggs. Seen the farmer bring in the eggs. Good food and plenty of it at a reasonable price. Notice they had a large selection on homemade pies.

Breakfast at the Emme Chase is pedestrian, with the exception of the home made biscuits and apple butter-- which are outstanding. Lunch is better, with some of the burgers being quite creative and very good. More interesting than the food, however, is the local color. Sit close to the large table used by regulars and you will get an education... More
