After an easy drive on Route 66 we located Satchmo's, a small Cajun style eatery on the east side of town that offers a nice menu selection. My wife had the BBQ ribs with a side of Red Beans & Rice which were both tasty and the ribs outstanding. I ordered the Jambalaya with a side of Shrimp Gumbo and... More

Someone recommend this to me so I tried it out for lunch today. If you like Cajun food you will like this place. I had the Po - boy with catfish and thought it was very excellent.

The reviews sounded good so we headed out with our handy GPS. Satchmo's is located in an old building attached to other old buildings, but we were able to park right outside. As we entered, we were greeted with by a nice man behind the counter. We told us to pick up a menu next to the door and come... More

On a recent lunch, I ordered the small size of Gumbo and Jambalya. Perfect amount of food. Both were excellent!! For a moment I thought I was in New Orleans. Will definately go back.

My wife and I went here last night for the first time. We went because of reviews on Yelp. There were those who loved the place and those who were not impressed much at all. Having had BBQ in Memphis, St. Louis and Little Rock/Hot Spring, I must say this is so - so. The ribs were tender but dry... More

Easy to drive by, and you might decide to take a pass on this old storefront unless you know about the tasty food inside that awaits you. Nothing fancy about the decor, but we truly LOVED the Jambalaya. Not a soup or stew, but a dish of great flavors that is very unique...eaten with a fork. We shared that and... More

Came here because of the great reviews for this restaurant and had high expectations. We were surprised to see that this high-rated restaurant was right next to a gas station! The inside had dated decor and very few people. The meat was questionable because of its processed texture, and the only decent food was the tater tots. The servers were... More

A key test is consistency. Well Satchmo's passes with flying colors. Ribs are fall off the bone smoked and sauced to perfection. We have been here several times now and have never been disapointed. Funky and fun, great service, wonderful personalities and a sense of humor.

To me, BBQ and Cajun are totally separate genres of food, but now that I've experienced Satchmo's, my mind has changed forever. Restaurant is cute, love the jazz murals, the employees appeared to be having fun, but the food was the star. Ribs were fantastic, set apart by the seasoning (little sweet, little Cajun spice). Pulled pork, jambalaya and sides... More

Our GPS had problems finding this place, but we're so glad we found it. The catfish po' boy was excellent! However, the sides are even better - great smoked beans! Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food is great, prices are reasonable - highly recommended.
