It seems pretty redundant to say that Big Mamou is one of the best ethnic restaurants anywhere, anytime. Period. Everyone else has already said that. I will only comment by quoting Kevin Costner: "If you build it, they will come". Big Mamou is not exactly located in the middle of exciting street night life (NOHO, anyone?). But if the food... Great environment - fun atmosphere. We always enjoys our meals at Chef Waynes - love the spicy food and the extras that they add. Now that we live elsewhere we miss the option of eating our lunches at the Big Mamou -- the magnet remains on our fridge though ...

Great taste of Cajun experience. Well prepared, priced and presented. Brings the New Orleans experience to the Northeast.

Have visited here quite a few times over the years....I usually either get the Seafood Jambalaya or the Cajun Pasta...its a BYOB...so make sure you bring your booze before you walk in...as they don't have a liquor license...its a small place so tends to be busy but well worth the wait....

Having had read the reviews , and having a love of Cajun food, so when our group was visiting the area we decided to check out the Big Mamou. The exterior is not impressive and many in our group murmured their apprehension. Any qualms were soon dissolved by a warm welcome to our large group and a willingness displayed by... More

We have been many times over the 19+ years they've been there. We bring our own beer/wine, many times wait in line for food, always worth wait. When you eat here you need to be patient as usually all tables are full, 2 waitresses and they get to you as soon as they can. Appetizers are fantastic, spinach and chicken... More

The waitress didn't even look at us when we went in on 10/30. She had her back to us and said 'take out or eat in? You can only do take out' as she sipped on her red wine at 820pm. Take out food was average. Will never go back.

I was a little apprehensive of this place when my colleague took me here; however, I was proven wrong with the first bite. I am from the south, and was not expecting great cajun in New England. The gumbo was as good as mine, and the homemade hot sauce was so flavorful. Even better, I felt like family by the... More

My first visit to Chef Wayne's Big Mamou was 15 years ago. Until tonight I'd not been back for 11 years. It is still outstanding. I started with an appetizer of fried calamari. Very good. Main course was the fried eggplant Po Boy. It was stuffed with cheese, grilled peppers and their sauce. The bread was fresh. An outstanding sandwich!... More
