Not great

Old decor and food that was not worth the money. Great device and good German beer but most dishes were bland. Duck special was the only exception.

Went there on Valentine's Day for dinner, it was a very snowy, windy and cold night. Thank you to the Valet crew for enduring the weather. The restaurant was not busy, probably due to the weather but was busy. The menu is fun, the food was delicious German fair. Sausages, Steaks, just delicious all around. The restaurant is comfortable, warm... More

Thanks so much for posting your nice review. Mother Nature was not kind to us on V-Day, but it seems that those who braved the elements had a great time. We hope to see you again on Fort Street when it gets a bit warmer, or even if the cold still persists, More

So happy they have reopened with the same historic feel and great menu. We missed this restaurant when they were transitioning to the new owners. Well Done.

We are thrilled that you enjoyed the new edition of the Student Prince. Lots of thought and work went into the renovations in the hope of keeping the same traditional feel and adding some 21'st century touches, as we head toward our second eighty years on Fort Street. More

Visited Springfield for the first time to see a museum show and saw nowhere inviting to dine. Picked the Student Prince from a list and became more dejected walking here from our hotel. However, on opening the door, it felt like we were in the Land of Oz. Suddenly things were Technicolor and animated (though the staff were not Munchkins).... More

Thanks you for sharing your thoughts. I hope that you enjoy your stay in Springfield. Many years back, we were fortunate to host several of the original Munchkins. They were in town to promote the arrival of Santa at a local mall. Many of our customers have sat in booster chairs and many of our customers have sipped a martini,... More

We missed this place! Beer is cold, food is great, seems to have stepped up with a new crew. The whole attitude in the place was great. Reminded me when I was a kid, glad its back. My favorite spot is the side bar by the corkscrews. Spatin dark is tremendous!

This old-fashioned German restaurant in Downtown Springlield closed last year and then reopened under new ownership/management. It was once a fine place for lunch and dinner so there were high hopes. The restaurant and its bar are lovely - handsome seating, a fine collection of steins, corkscrews, German prints and old stuff of all kinds. But the food....lousy. Even the... More

This is an iconic place in downtown Springfield, and like others, I'm so glad it has been saved. The updating is beautiful! Tasteful and classy. ( And I'm not a beer stein lover.) Easy to believe you're in Bavaria. Our food was good, not great, yet. They are still working out some kinks I think. Husband's weiner schnitzel was crispy... More

To be fair, our visit consisted of a party of 12 at 6:30 pm on a Saturday night. As usual, downtown Springfield was buzzing and the wait for valet was just a few minutes. However, there were so many cars and people waiting to get onto Fort Street, that traffic was becoming backed up on Main. We waiting for about... More

This was my first time back at The Student Prince since the sale and renovation. Well all the things that we loved from be fore are still there, only in an ever so slightly updated setting. The fried camembert, salad with Roquefort dressing and Creme Souchard are exactly the same as they always have been, the various entrees were all... More

My absolutely favorite restaurant in the Pioneer Valley has always been The Student Prince in Springfield, MA. So, when it was announced several months ago that it was closing, I was devastated. Fortunately, a very prominent individual in Springfield stepped up and purchased the establishment. It was closed for a few months for "updating" and reopened the night before Thanksgiving.... More
