I know German food isn't for everyone....or so people may think, but if you visit The Fort, there is definitely something on the menu to please everyone. It would be impossible for me to count the number of times I have eaten at this restaurant as it was my father's favorite, so growing up this was the place to celebrate.... More

We ate great food, drank wonderful bier, were given a tour of the facility -- and loved it all. One of the nicest things about a not very nice city. Such a pleasant surprise.

My Massachusetts relatives took me to this stein-filled restaurant in east-central Massachusetts and the fare did not disappoint. Several birthdays were celebrated there, indicating a strong local following. I had the roulade with spetzel and red cabbage. It was superb. The other dishes were equally enjoyable. An (all-too brief) accordion performance make the evening even more enjoyable. The service was... More

A 'must-go' spot for great German food, beer and décor. Whether it is decorated for Christmas, May Day, Game Week - or just any day of the week it is visually interesting. The stein collect and the stain glass is beautiful; the service is spot-on and professional and the food is delicious. I especially like the house dressing (Roquefort, mixed... More

Parking is hard to find- the food is a bit pricey but it is really good. The atmosphere is cheerful & the waiters/waitresses are excellent I must say it's one of my favorite places to go when I can.

German food at its best. This charming old German restaurant is full of memorabilia and great food. I have been told it is great to visit at the Christmas Holiday...but have done done it yet. You will need to make reservations well in advance to get a table during the December holidays. It is also a fun place for lunch... More

The Student Prince has been a staple in Springfield for many years. Authentic German cuisine. I love the Sauer brauten. For an appetizer be sure to try the fried camembert cheese. If you love Octoberfest beer, visit them then. Their collection of rare steins is a must see.

Two of my favorite foods at The Fort are not on the menu: the fried Camembert cheese, which is an open secret, and their delicious fried butterflied shrimp, available as an appetizer or dinner. The shrimp are not of the heavy, battered variety; instead, they must be dipped only in water and then in flour, making them light but crunchy,... More
