This old-fashioned German restaurant in Downtown Springlield closed last year and then reopened under new ownership/management. It was once a fine place for lunch and dinner so there were high hopes. The restaurant and its bar are lovely - handsome seating, a fine collection of steins, corkscrews, German prints and old stuff of all kinds. But the food....lousy. Even the... More

This is an iconic place in downtown Springfield, and like others, I'm so glad it has been saved. The updating is beautiful! Tasteful and classy. ( And I'm not a beer stein lover.) Easy to believe you're in Bavaria. Our food was good, not great, yet. They are still working out some kinks I think. Husband's weiner schnitzel was crispy... More

To be fair, our visit consisted of a party of 12 at 6:30 pm on a Saturday night. As usual, downtown Springfield was buzzing and the wait for valet was just a few minutes. However, there were so many cars and people waiting to get onto Fort Street, that traffic was becoming backed up on Main. We waiting for about... More

This was my first time back at The Student Prince since the sale and renovation. Well all the things that we loved from be fore are still there, only in an ever so slightly updated setting. The fried camembert, salad with Roquefort dressing and Creme Souchard are exactly the same as they always have been, the various entrees were all... More

My absolutely favorite restaurant in the Pioneer Valley has always been The Student Prince in Springfield, MA. So, when it was announced several months ago that it was closing, I was devastated. Fortunately, a very prominent individual in Springfield stepped up and purchased the establishment. It was closed for a few months for "updating" and reopened the night before Thanksgiving.... More

I met a date here for drinks for a first date. The staff was outgoing, friendly and engaging with both me and my date which helped to break the ice. The atmosphere was chill and low key, the drinks plentiful, I'd recommend it as a good place to meet up for drinks or a lunch date.

First time visited, the atmosphere was great! Food was tasty and superb, and the service was excellent. Our waiter, Cory, was pleasant and informative about what we chose to drink and eat. A very good experience. Will highly recommend to family and friends.

Place looks good after the remodel. it's more open up. Free valet parking a big plus. Nice new tap system in place. Some on the best bar tenders in western mass. The food seams portioned, and more expensive and lacking of the old flavor. Had dinner there a couple times and just hope its just opening with new people and... More

Been here numerous times before the big revamp and usually averaged out 3 1/2 to 4 stars. The portion of the Wiener Schnitzel at lunchtime used to be twice the size and more tasty ....also went up a dollar in price and it's half the size! The potato pancakes were good as they always were.... More of limited menu at... More

After being closed for a few months, we met my family and the re-opened student Prince. The interior has been updated and is a touch more modern. A lot of the same dishes are on the menu, including the fried cheese. New items on the menu as well including potato dumplings with chanterelle mushrooms. This was very good. Lots of... More
