An old restaurant recently re-opened

A great place to meet and greet. Food is simple but well prepared. Nice array of appetizers which you can eat at the bar with a cocktail if you prefer. Friendly staff and good service.

After coming back from a vacation where the food was not so good, this was a welcomed meal! My family and I were just staying one night in Springfield on our way back home and wanted some GOOD food and boy did we get it! Parking was a bit tricky, but they offer valet. The food was not only outstanding,... More

Eight adults went for lunch. Two had onion soup which was very good, although a bit salty. The salads were generous and tasty. Those who ordered German meals were very happy. Two had fish and chips and thought the batter was a bit heavy. I had whole belly fried clams. The clams were good but they were served on top... More

On a recommendation I visited this establishment - wasn't sure what to expect so everything was a surprise. The food portions were large and the German fare was probably authentic as it was a bit bland to be frank. The beer list was impressive and the local draft craft beer was strong and tasty. Staff friendly and attentive. Assume the... More

My grandfather introduced me to the Student Prince over 50 years ago. Business took me back to Springfield this week and I had to give the SP a try. I am awfully glad I did. As we walked over from the Marriott Hotel there were several cars pulling up for valet service - a good sign. We went in and... More

A little hard to find, I arrived during an intense thunderstorm. Learned the Entrance is on the side street. Got some strange looks for coming in soaking wet. Seated right away, impressed with large bar area, and lots to see on the walls, covered with beer steins & other memorabilia. Prompt, friendly service. Great menu, prices lower than I expected.... it was nice of you to share your thoughts. The establishment is a unique one. Last year an extensive remodel was done. We had some discussion about the small booths and it was decided to leave them. The set up dates back to the 1940's and perhaps people were a bit more flexible at that time or smaller. The little... More

My husband and I used to visit this restaurant forty years ago when we lived in the area, and this was our first visit since then. It has been remodeled by a new owner, and retains much of the old-fashioned charm (massive collection of beer steins), but has an improved dining room. My dining partners found the filet mignon to... We are glad that you enjoyed. We have been trying to adjust the recipe for the Veal Calvados. We might bring forth a new edition this fall when naive apples appear. The next time you stop in try one of our classic German meals. More

Used to visit often. Our friends wanted to go there for there anniversary. Several items we used to like are gone from the menu. Added several American items. They have also made some changes inside and it looks good. Service was good with a waitress and a helper. Ordered drinks and appetizers. The appetizers Liver Pate and fried cheese were... More

Came in from out of town and heard it had reopened. Convenient free valet. An eclectic menu has been added to the traditional German fare. Service was prompt and friendly. Steak was perfectly cooked and seemed larger than the advertised size. Perfect dinner for everyone. Brussels sprout appetizer was a little to tough for the ladies, but I enjoyed it.

Hands down, the best in town. Amazing selection of German beers and the German food on the menu is something too. The service and food is excellent. Valet parking so you don't have to hassle with the lot. Definitely worth a visit. Don't miss it!

We appreciate your taking the time to write about the restaurant. We have always prided ourselves on the German dishes. the Valets are very pleasant and go out of their way to make sure that your evening on Fort starts on a good note. See you on Fort Street, More
