Just because it is downtown, and a total Springfield tradition, you have to go. Go at lunch to see who is sitting at the power table. Go at lunch to see just how many lawyers can fit in one restaurant. But the food, as in the title of this review, is only so so. I know and love German food... More

German cuisine. Well worth a visit to Springfields' classiest restaurant. Prices are average, quality of food is above average, atmosphere is superb. Blue Cheese dressing is a specialty of the house! At least one Chevronet for desert or after dinner drink is a must! Wait staff are true professionals. Reservations are recommended!

If you like the atmosphere of a German pub and like German food, you'll like this place. Moderately priced.

A long-established Springfield restaurant with a good menu and good specials. Be sure to try the spaetzle and the indian pudding.

Had an early supper so no crowds and very efficient service - dinner came before we finished our salad. Nice roquefort dressing. Schnitzel very greasy and spaetzle ordinaire. German cooking can have some oomph to it. This dish was tired. Not many options in Springfield so this place keeps beating! Lots of German decor.

Visited the fort for a late lunch and had an excellent meal. My wife had beef roulard and i had the saurbraten. As we have both spent time in germany we knew the food at the fort was authentic german fare. Our meals were excellent and we topped it off with strudel. The atmosphere is old world and the staff... I have visited the Student Prince many times for various reasons and you can always count on Good German food and atmosphere. they added a newer bar in recent years but the bar and lounge when you walk in is filled with many steins and great German décor. Great place for drinking German beer

I have been dining at The Fort since I was a child. I always chose it for a special occasion because I liked the atmosphere and the service. I have had many of their items and loved them all. I am very fond of German fare and theirs is unsurpassed. My husband is not as taken with German food but... More

The Fort is a great place. The servers are friendly and helpful. John will always find you a seat. The food is never disappointing. Most recently we enjoyed the 8 year of their game month. The assorted game kebab was fantastic. Varied from venison, elk, bison, llama, wild boar and the list goes on. Each piece of meat on the... More

You go to this Springfield mainstay for the ambiance. The food is good, but mostly just good. A few dishes stand out. The rabbit, house main sausages and schnitzel are all very good. Ask for sauce on the side as they do have a heavy hand with the ladle.
