Refreshing to find after a long day hiking and especially if it might rain. Good food and fair prices. Friendly people. Nice.

The Big Meadows Restaurant attached to the Lodge in Luray, VA was going to be the high point in our trip through the Blue Ridge Parkway. It turned out so much worse that we could have imagined that we would NEVER recommend anyone stop to eat there. Our server, Joe, was so old and moved so slowly we had a... More

The food is really good, but the portion sizes are a bit smal for the amount of money you pay. I had one thing that bothered me and that was the snide remark a waiter made when our large group came in and he said Oh look out a stampede....really just totally rude and really, the restaurant was not prepared... The portions are large, but that is all I have to recommend the restaurant. If you are staying at Big Meadows, you will be a captive for breakfast and most likely, dinner since it is about 22 miles to the nearest exit from the park. However, the staff at the restaurant was terrific and more than made up for the... More

While we were expecting things to be a bit pricey, had no idea how badly we would be ripped off. Way overpriced for what you get. And we had to wait an inordinate amount of time to be served. It was not the fault of the wait staff. They were really hustling. Apparently the cooking staff has been greatly reduced... More

My wife and I had dinner here while staying at the Lodge. We were seated promptly. The server was prompt and we had no problems with speed of service as mentioned in other reviews. The room was about 35% filled. I ordered the fried chicken and Pat had the BBQ ribs. We had a salad to start. Tossed greens with... More

The breakfast menu has a lot of selections. I ordered buckwheat pancakes and they were a little over cooked, very dry. But we've been coming here for years and will continue to do so.

We've been visiting the Big Meadows Lodge dining room regularly for the past 17 years, partly because of the incomparable beauty of the national park and mostly for the excellently prepared food. Our visit today was dramatically different from any previous visit: the meals were poorly prepared - the fried chicken was lukewarm and the crust was soggy and gummy... More

Big Meadows Lodge Restaurant was a delightful surprise for a good dinner with friends after hiking through the Shenandoah National Park.. Beautiful setting and nice walk in the Big Meadow after eating. Good food and service in New Market Taprooml Looking into staying at the Lodge on another weekend -- open from May through October.

Ok, it's a National Park lodge, so my expectations are realistic: I'm not expecting a super high-quality dining experience. While camping at the nearby Big Meadows Campground on Memorial Day week we decided to treat ourselves to a nice breakfast at the Lodge (usually we head over to the Wayside for breakfast). After being seated, we waited for 15-20 minutes... More
