The people are nice and the drinks and food are good. A place to stop to get the local feel and get tips about where to visit.

Had a wonderful visit to Luray Caverns and stopped here for lunch. Waited just a bit for a table, but once we were seated, it was a long wait to get our orders - it just felt that they were tremendously understaffed for a beautiful summer Saturday afternoon with a main tourist attraction just down the street. My Roast Beef... More

Fantastic espresso bar. Got a dry cappuccino. The foam was so thick you could spoon it off and the flavor was terrific! The sandwiches were amazing too!

Went there for Lunch this week and were seated by a young man who appeared to be a waiter. My wife and I than sat for 15 minutes as waiters and waitresses delivered food, drinks and menus to surrounding tables. Not once did any of the staff speak to us or ask us if someone had waited on us yet.... More

I liked the "back in time" feel of the place but the staff was not very friendly and the food was average.

I very much recommend this place! The atmosphere is amazing. It's like an old firehouse or something. Huge main dining area, it was packed when I got there, but I only waited about 5 minutes at most. It was full of knick-knacks and old furniture. It did seem to be the gathering place of the small town. I saw many... More

We were in town for a wedding. The Woodruff House recommended the Gathering Grounds for a light lunch before the big wedding event. Well they were right.. Best coffee and we were so impressed with their food and staffing. They were a touch slow in service but they were very busy. It was very nice and highly recommended.

This is a real family style and friendly restaurant. Food to accommodate any palate. The best German Chocolate pie. You need to see and eat it to understand.

I was at GG one evening, and the place was slammed. I was attempting to get a coffee, and the place was in the "weeds"....it took almost 20 minutes to be served a single coffee.. However, sitting down relaxing and having a nice meal (in the middle of the action) were a nice looking middle aged couple....they were dressed like... More

Hi, My name is Elizabeth Butler, and I am the owner of Gathering Grounds. I take pride in building this business from the ground up, and I take pride in this fact.  I had to respond to your comment because not much of what you wrote was true.  I do not know who the patron was, but he/she had it all wrong.  I... Loved the ambiance of the place and their espresso was just right, however while food was very good it was not as yummy as the food at the West Main Street market, so I am giving it a 4 for that reason and comparison on prices. Staff was great-friendly and helpful:)
