The tomato basil soup was fantastic, and the corn and bean salad. The rest of the dinner was very good, but those two were great. The restaurant building is a converted old hardware store, with great decor and very friendly staff who knew a lot about the area and the history of the cafe.

Gathering Grounds was ok, They were definitely understaffed even for a Sunday morning. The layout was great and the feel to the place was fantastic but the service was so-so.

We were here first for coffees, and later for lunch. The food and drinks are good. The pastries are yummy. If they have not yet run out of them they even have gluten-free options. It has a very pleasant ambiance. It can get busy, and with only one person preparing espresso drinks the drinks can be slow to arrive. That... More

We found this place due to many good online reviews. So all those reviews got it right , this coffee house/ restaurant is special and rare. The atmosphere promotes relaxation, reading a book , sipping a coffee or wine. The pastries are made fresh daily, u must get there early or they will b sold out. The chai latte ,... More

We stopped in after a trip thru Skyline Drive to Luray Caverns. The cafe/coffee shop is adorable! It's full of charm. It was an old hardware store that still features an old store charm with an antique shelf set with attached ladder. Seating is self serve and features an eclectic mix of mini booths, kitchen tables and a sofa. Food... More

We live in nearby Madison, Va., and have eaten many delicious meals at Gathering Grounds Patisserie and Cafe during the past two years - each more delicious than the last. We're grateful for a friend's Trip Advisor rave review that sent us there. Gathering Grounds' sandwiches are to die for - they TOAST the insides of their house-made croissants -... More

Stopped in for a latte, received one of the best iced lattes I've had in a while!! It's also just so cozy and beautiful. The ceilings are high, but it's still comforting. The local beers are great! The staff was lovely. We will be back!!!!

Had a chocolate chai latte and a huge, perfectly baked cream cheese brownie. Beautiful old building that used to be a hardware store, with friendly service. Glad we stopped there!

My husband and I stopped here for lunch after visiting the Luray Caverns. Food was great and I especially enjoyed the Bean and Corn salad which was a side to my meal. The veggie wrap was real good and not the least bit soggy which often happens. The portions are large so we didn't order dessert but watched many huge... More

Stopped here for coffee and lemon chess pie. Awesome pie! Awesome coffee! The next day, stopped here for coffee and bourbon pecan pie. Again, awesome pie! And still awesome coffee! My wife had the iced chai latte; this beats whatever iced chai latte any of the coffee shop chains serve! Definitely recommend this place for their coffee, lattes, and pies.... More
