Gino the Raconteur

Gino is great at greeting you, reciting the menu and making you feel at home. Everything in this authentic Italian restaurant is prepared to order and it shows. Love the stuffed chicken. And, if you're fortunate, Gino will offer you a taste of his home made liqueur.

I've been passing this restaurant for months now, thinking that Trattoria means 'take out'. But then a friend had a pizza here and was very enthousiastic. Especially when I heard they don't serve the thick US pizza's, but the nice delicate Italian ones. I had Pollo Parmiggiana and I loved it! Spaghetti Olio Aglio on the side and a glass... More

We recently ate a Gino's before an event nearby and found it to be an entertaining place with good food and good wine. The entertainment is provided by the very outgoing Gino himself who is part restaurateur and part vaudeville act. We only had the Pizza Margherita but enjoyed it very much. The crust was very good but could have... More

Yes, Gino is a character. Yes, there will be old Sinatra songs playing. No, you won't think you are in Little Italy. There are all the usual Italian offerings, but nothing special, including the wine. This is a perfectly decent place to enjoy a meal, but it has little replay value.

I came here two times, the first time (Monday evening) it was closed. The second time (Thursday evening) they were open and the food and service was great. Gino is a character and as someone else said a little bit crazy (in a good way!). He takes pride in serving up real Italian food. I had the Lobster Ravioli special... More

When you first walk in to Gino's you are greeted by Gino himself. He is a very lively, fun loving man who prides himself on serving great authentic Italian food. His pizza is the best this side of Naples. The staff is very friendly, the food is great and if you are fortunate to arrive when Gino is in one... More

Gino and his culinary creations are based on his Napolitano youth and his ability to bring real Italian, nor the effete or dilettante small pretty plates which leave you poor and hungry. A Trattoria creates a dinner to your order instead of a fixed menu. Gino's always has a variety of specials, lamb shank, fish, filet minion or a seasonal... More

I've been a patron of Gino's Trattoria for nearly fifteen years, his food is the best true Italian food in the area. This is not for the American Italian fast food lover, it's for a person who knows real Italian food and enjoys the wonderful flavours Italy has to offer. Gino, the owner is very pleasant, lots of fun and... More

I have to give Gino's a Thousand Oaks 5 (maybe not an LA or SF 5, but a 5 for the area). If you want good Italian food, drink and a good time, I don't think you'll be disappointed We had a wonderful salad with all kinds of goodies in a very light mellow dressing. Gino was fun, engaging, entertaining... More

Very friendly but if you want a more private, intimate dinner Gino can be intrusive. We enjoyed the casual friendly environment and the best tasting Italian food in TO.
