The food was very good, the serving sizes were great and it was inexpensive. The staff were polite and prompt. Food was served promptly.

I ordered the Fajita special and my husband ordered chicken enchiladas with red chile. The fajitas were grilled with onion and peppers, but no fajita seasoning at all. Just unseasoned grilled chicken. There was a lot of food, but it was not exciting at all. The enchiladas had chicken that tasted boiled, but, again...not seasoned. The food was only average,... More

We weren't sure about Mexican food at a place called Horseman's haven, but it was delicious. We got enchiladas and my son, who likes spicy food, was warned not to get the green chile as it was really hot. He didn't and it's a good thing. We got it on the side and it was too hot for all of... More

A local joint with good, reasonably priced food. Worth a visit. Eat where the locals eat. Might see some law enforcement types, which in my book, is a good sign.

When you are able to go into a restaurant at an hour of the day that in years past you would have to wait for a seat, and now find the restaurant perhaps 30% full, you start wondering if the locals have assessed the food as having declined in quality and taken their loyalty elsewhere. I've great memories eating here... More

A friend suggested Horseman's for a good lunch. We were told 'their red is the bomb! " And they were right. I had the carne enchiladas and my wife had the green huevos, Good flavor and portions, nice plates. The carne was very tasty, the pasole and beans were quite nice. The huevos with the green were very well done.... More

Anthony Bordain reviewed this joint, especially the green chili, positively so we decided to check it out. We could barely eat half of what we paid for; It was just garbage. The interior looked like a local dive in any small town. The service was acceptable, but didn't make this experience any better. I lived in Santa Fe for 8... More

Breakfast was a dud! I ordered the carne adovado and the scrambled eggs....The service was efficient, the portion was more than ample, the funky atmosphere was to my liking....like an old tavern in Oregon....However the eggs were over cooked, crispy at the edges, the home fries were like mushy cooked french fries, the carne adovado was just average, the coffee... Nice locals place. Wanted something with local taste without an hour wait. Ordered our meals and asked for the #2 Green Chile. Was told it would be to hot for us but that they would bring a sample. I like hot food and consider myself to be a Chilehead. Thanks for the tip. The #2 was not only flamethrower hot,... More

We had Sunday lunch at Horseman's Haven Cafe during a recent visit to Santa Fe. My spouse and I both like Mexican food and he especially likes hot food. He declared his enchiladas with green chili to be the best he has ever eaten, and I thought my roast beef enchiladas with red chili were just so so. I didn't... More
