We all ordered interesting dishes but the favorite was the unusual chile rellenos stuffed with meat, raisins and nuts. The menu is quite varied and lengthy so we were surprised that everything tasted freshly prepared. We were there at an unusual hour (mid-afternoon) and the service was great. We had eaten at other Mexican/Southwestern restaurants during our visit in Santa Fe. Los Potrillos had the most flavorful Mexican food. We dined for lunch at Los Potrillos on August 22nd. I had the enchiladas and my wife had chile rellenos. We arrived early. When my wife cut into her chile rellenos there was LITERALLY about a cup of grease that poured out of them! She had to ask for an extra plate and extra napkins to sop up the oil!... more

I grew up in the southwest and when I get back for a visit, we make it a point to get to Los Portillos. It is worth going 200 miles out of the way for. Go for breakfast. Way more than huevos rancheros. You won't believe how good a breakfast can be. more
