Good coffee shop and mags

If you like to check your email and drink coffee this is a popular spot on the East side a few blocks from both Canyon Road and the Plaza. They also have good pastry

My husband and I recently visited this establishment on a quiet weekday afternoon for refreshments while strolling through the neighborhood. Before placing our order at the counter, we stopped to look at the periodicals along the wall. While we were paging through a magazine, the manager walked by on his way out the place and shouted loudly, twice, that this... More

A short walk from our casita, the Downtown Subscription is an exemplary neighborhood coffee shop. You will not want for a great beverage, a freshly-baked sweet, something interesting to read, a conversation and/or art upon which to feast your eyes. The outdoor garden is gorgeous. Wireless available too! Really loved my mornings there!

Lovely place to have a morning treat and breakfast drink, with both indoor and outdoor seating. It includes a newsstand with a wide variety of magazines from Men's Fitness to Parabola, to suit the both casual reader and the philosopher. The pastries are tasty and the coffee is milder than we like in the lattes;but, to be fair, we could... More

After waiting 15 min to order my ice mocha I waited another 15 minutes to get it. Watched them make it and now I know why so weak. For a large ice mocha only one shot of espresso. Also not cheap at over 4.00. Can't beat the patio and ambiance.

As we strolled up Canyon Road, we noted a directional sign by a side road to Garcia Street Books and decided to take a detour, because I can never pass an independent bookstore by. Downtown Subscription stands next to the bookstore and beckoned as a respite on the hot summer day. The shop sells oodles of magazines and newspapers but... More

Great coffee/espresso/etc. Lots of magazines and convenient to Canyon Road. We loved it because it was right up the street. They do have a lovely outdoor seating area, which is worth getting a drink and a magazine, and relaxing in.
