Where the locals hang out

I try and eat here every week or so. The beer selection is always changing. The food specials are so good that I don't order off the main menu except about 25% of the time. They are that good. Go, you will not be disappointed.

Went in one Saturday evening to hear some blue grass music and figured I should have something to munch on with my beer choice. So I ordered the nachos which came hot and crunchy with an appropriate smattering of cheese and goodly dollops of guacamole and sour cream. Took a picture of the beer selection to temp my brother the... More

We popped in here for a quick lunch while touring the railyard district. It's a brewpub, but not much else. The beer was good so if that if why you are going, then mission accomplished, but if you want a good meal and service, I think you are better off selecting one of the other hundreds of places in Santa... Good, bike friendly place to go for a good local brew and good food, whether appetizers or meals. Casual. Friendly, busy wait staff. Live music most nights. Only downside is- Can be too noisy to have much conversation.

The beer was quite good, although they were out of my first choice when I arrived, and the green chile stew was very tasty. The parking situation isn't great (the lot is very small, so you often have to park off to the side of a nearby dirt-and-gravel road by the railroad tracks), but the staff are friendly, and the... The interior is warm and inviting industrial. Pretty big menu, but we only tried a couple of small things (pretzels, soup, all good). The place was busy and bustling and it looked like most tables were there for dinner. The beers are good, but not anywhere near as strong as beers made by the other local brew pub Duel. Like... We recently joined a group of friends from the office for some blues music and socializing. The band was entertaining (loved the flautist and fiddler) and had some yummy snacks. The Lamb was locally-sourced and flavorful, sauce lemony and on the spot and greens very fresh. There are lots of choices in local brews and the atmosphere was very conducive... More

This is strictly a beer review. Loved this place. Came in on a Wednesday afternoon and sat in the back. They didn't have a "sampler platter" but I saw they had 4 oz pours for $1.40 so I ordered 4 (in order of how I liked them: International, cream stout, rod's bitter, IPA) There are so many IPAs these days... Second Street Brewery has a fun, lively atmosphere with a great menu. They have an extensive mico-brewery selection to satisfy everyone. The food is excellent and the service is always fast and friendly.

If you are a fan of brew pubs Second Street is a must. Their beers are a bit too hoppy for me, but if you love hop beers you're home. The food is good pub grub. A good place to watch the big game or catch up w/ friends.
