Another great lunch at The Compound

Walking up Canyon Road in Santa Fe, the obvious place to have lunch is at the Compound. Nicely situated off of the main road, it has wonderful places to sit on the patio in back or in the nooks and crannies of the building. Our third year in a row, having lunch at the Compound. Tasty food and a... read more

This is a lovely restaurant toward the top of Canyon Drive. Since we were a little too casually dressed we were relegated to an inner courtyard, which was understandable and fine. The service was good if a little slow. They had a very nice luncheon menu and wine list. If walking along Canyon Drive, this is where to stop. However... More

The first thing we noticed when we got here was the significant number of locals dining there- good sign! Be aware that the restaurant has its own free parking available. It is stylishly elegant, and the food is great and reasonably priced. By all mean try the chicken schnitzel!

A beautiful restaurant, on a lovely street. The dining room is artfully finished and really nice. We had a great lunch there, after touring the nearby art galleries on Canyon Road, and it was first rate with a good waiter, Thomas, and the food was excellent. We came back for dinner, on Sunday night, and I think it was the... More

My wife and I had dinner at the Compound during the Santa Fe Indian Market. It was my first time dining there, although I had heard it was very nice from several friends and reviews. The wine list was just right - not overwhelming like some restaurants but with thoughtful, good quality choices at different price points. We recognized several... More

Beautiful restaurant & we were excited to be there. Appetizers were good- foie gras/sweetbreads quite good & tuna tartare nothing special, but good. Then the main course... My veal porterhouse, ordered med rare was dry & well done. Tasteless yet pricey. They returned with a properly cooked one but by then the rest of the table was nearly finished. It... More

excellent food, good service, went out of their way to accommodate my wife and I. I would recommend reservations even for lunch, as this restaurant is always busy.

We have eaten at the Compound many times over the past years, and chose it again tonight for our farewell to Santa Fe for the season. We asked to be seated outdoors, and had a lovely table looking out over the garden. Our server, Brad, was the consummate professional. He rotated smoothly among several tables, timing his attention and food... More

This fine restaurant has become a perennial favorite of ours. There are several reasons but the primary reason is the wonderful blending of ingredients and flavors that they use in their meals. The most recent examples included duck with roasted plums, pork tenderloin with cherries and the Bitter Chocolate Peanut Butter Marquise. The atmosphere adds to a wonderful dining experience... The table next to us must have been VIP because we were basically ignored the entire meal which was very disturbing. Food has also gone over to the pretentious side.
