Description: Mark Kiffin, celebrated chef, owner, and author of the Compound...
Mark Kiffin, celebrated chef, owner, and author of the Compound Restaurant, has won the James Beard Foundation award as one of America's Best Chefs. The Compound is Santa Fe's premier restaurant with Chef Kiffin's acclaimed seasonal Contemporary American cuisine derived from Santa Fe's rich heritage of regional and Mediterranean influences. The New York Times, Gourmet magazine, The Wall Street Journal and Wine Spectator have all selected the Compound as Santa Fe's favorite. Equally impressive is the attentive, highly knowledgeable and friendly staff. Chef Kiffin's menus focus on the exclusive changes in seasons such as hearty braised dishes in the fall and winter using apples, pears and cider from local harvests, osso bucco and porcini risotto while in spring and summer feature fresh local vegetables and naturally raised organic lamb and delectable strawberries.

Excellent!

The Compound continues to deliver excellent food in a wonderful atmosphere. The heirloom tomato salad, Scottish salmon and molten chocolate cake were the best dishes we had on this visit. Can't wait to return!

We went for lunch earlier this week and really enjoyed it. The interior of the restaurant was amazing - I was staring at the fabric patterns and wall decor (note the folk art santos and the shrine to fine dining) and realized that I had read about this place - all the decoration was designed by Alexander Girard - the... Santa Fe seems to excel at beautiful little restaurants that are quiet enough to have an actual conversation. This is one of the best. Lovely restaurant in the art district of Canyon Road, with great service and great food.

We went for lunch and had a wonderful experience. Lunch prices are on the high side but the food was completely delicious. Artistically presented, artisan breads, creative and delicious cocktails. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the atmosphere. Our waiter was fantastic! A good mixture of elegance and charm without being pretentious. Though we were too full yo enjoy... More

Difficult to find better food, more creative presentations and more attentive waitstaff anywhere. The setting is delightful - the servers very knowledgable about their menu and the wine list is super - its a treat to eat here but make reservations.

In all the years I've been visiting Santa Fe, I have never had dinner at the Compound. This time I was with people who wanted the best and that's what we got at the Compound. We ate on the patio which was elegantly comfortable. Our waiter was a true pro and the food was exceptional.I felt as if I was... More

Brought my Sweetie for a milestone birthday celebration, told the waiter and then no mention of the birthday thing from Compound. Food was really disappointing considering their astronomical prices. Go someplace where the staff actually care about you. Not Recommended.

The Compound was the first upscale restaurant my local friends took me to years ago. And I still try to go back there most visits to Santa Fe. The eclectic atmosphere is interesting and relaxing. Although the food is expensive, you get what you pay for. The vegetables are especially outstanding.

The restaurant was recommended to us as a romantic place to eat good food. Based on dining inside, I don't know if I would call it romantic as much as serene and restful. We could hear each other talk without difficulty. The service was excellent. as was the food. A relatively simple chicken dish was prepared quite well; the filet... More
