Description: Mark Kiffin, celebrated chef, owner, and author of the Compound Restaurant, has won the James Beard Foundation award as one of America's Best Chefs. The Compound is Santa Fe's premier restaurant with Chef Kiffin's acclaimed seasonal Contemporary American cuisine derived from Santa Fe's rich heritage of regional and Mediterranean influences. The New York Times, Gourmet magazine, The Wall Street Journal and Wine Spectator have all selected the Compound as Santa Fe's favorite. Equally impressive is the attentive, highly knowledgeable and friendly staff. Chef Kiffin's menus focus on the exclusive changes in seasons such as hearty braised dishes in the fall and winter using apples, pears and cider from local harvests, osso bucco and porcini risotto while in spring and summer feature fresh local vegetables and naturally raised organic lamb and delectable strawberries.

Had business guests in town and took them to this restaurant. First of all, they ran out of tonic for our vodka tonic drink, and had to run into town to get some. Took a long time to get that drink! Service was slow the whole dinner through. Food was good, but not memorable. When it came to pay, we... More

The Compound remains the best restaurant in Santa Fe! After booking a large party here last year, which people are still talking about how fabulous it was a year later, we decided to dine here on my 50th birthday. Aside from the rude hostess experience, it truly was a night to remember! We had requested a table outside, but when... More

A truly exceptional restaurant with a fantastic wine list and a menue that will please the most discerning guest. We always plan at least one lunch and dinner at The Compound. Each time our experience is extraordinary. The ambiance is quiet elegance, the service by professional wait staff is perfect and the meal is always excellent. Seasonal specialties are incorporated... The Compound has a captive audience. It is alone on Canyon Road so when one is hungry and desires a break from gallery poking this is the venue. It's ambience is elegant and refined. There appeared to be business lunches underway I imagine between gallery owners and collectors, or owners and bankers, and collectors and other collectors. I say this... More

The bar at The Compound only has 12 seats. The uniquely designed square shaped, service floor sunken bar is a favorite with locals for good reason. The menu at the bar is delectable and affordable. The chatter around the bar is interesting and energizing. Alexander Girard was the architect for the conversion of the compound buildings from residential use to... More

Stopped in here for lunch and were seated inside as the tables were full on the patio. Inside was nice and comfortable but outside looked wonderful and I wished we were there. Had 2 teens with us and everyone found something to order. We had seared tuna nicoise (delicious), burger (was amazingly tender and flavorful), lobster and crab salad, and... More

We were four people for lunch. The food , service and ambience were terrific. I had the highly recommend chicken scallopini prepared as a schnitzel and it was excellent. Service is elegant and non-invasive and the dining space very pleasant. I would have loved to come back for dinner. Don't miss this one.

We had two lunches at the Compound this year, one last year. I's a great place to "interrupt" a stroll up Canyon Road, looking at all of the galleries. The seating areas (both outside and inside) are very nice, and the service (particularly the host/sommelier) is very attentive.

My favorite restaurant used to be The Modern in NYC. The Compound is now #1 with The Modern a runner up. We had lunch on the patio and all our senses were satisfied. The atmosphere was lovely, flowers and sculpture everywhere. Service friendly but not overbearing and the food amazing. I had the lobster salad and my husband had a... More

This restaurant is down off the world famous Canyon Road Art Gallery strip, so is very convenient if you need a break. If the weather is good, take a table out side in the sculpture garden. It's divine with grass, adobe and sculptures. Take your time to chill! The Compound has a great reputation, probably after Geronimo's as a first... More
